New build - Fibrelyte Procat

Finally got most of the parts together so made a start on the build.

Still needs a few parts to finish the build, shocks, bodyshell, undertray & wing.

Can't decide on the shocks Cat SX standard or big bore. I do not have a set of big bore to test to make sure they will fit.

Very nice ;)

I have a boss Cat I'd like to restore - did you buy the fibrelyte stuff recently - do they still make those parts !

Moozo 08-07-2012 07:19 AM

That look sweet John well done:thumbsup:

kaszal 08-07-2012 07:55 AM

All that carbon fibre...

Darren used small bores for his Procat...

maybe it's just a generational thing, but to me this layout always looks like the absolutely perfect packaging solution for a 4wd car. cells and motor close with the motor on the centre line, saddle pack cells and loads of space for radio gear. lovely.

ralphee 08-07-2012 08:57 AM

Its slicker than oil. Looks so good in full carbon, and NOT dated at all, in fact, yeah, a near perfect layout. Great thread!

John, what wing mount are you using, the SX3 one?

How does it compare to the old crashback mount?

You planning to race it?

I will be trying the big bores out on my bosscat later, will let you know

That looks absolutely amazing! As Luke has already said I'm running standard cat sx shocks on mine and they work really well, they give much more travel and adjustability

Thank you for the comments.

Yes, it is the SX3 wing mount

Unfortunately this will never get used, it's going on a shelf. I have put to much money and time in collecting the parts together.

I will be looking into building a Procat or Bosscat to use. Starting with a carbon fibre chassis without the cell slots. Modifying the diffs to use SX drive shafts.

Will be posting info when i start

kaszal 08-07-2012 04:42 PM

Won't be raced!?

That will be interesting, looking forward to seeing that.

8rad on rc10talk has done something similar on a Topcat using a B4 diff.

I just have not got the money yet to buy the bits to start research and development.

I would like to go Bosscat as more parts are still available but the drive belt above the lower chassis limits flexibility with lipo's

kaszal 08-07-2012 06:18 PM

Thanks for the link.

Yes, the belt-under-chassis design does allow more layout options.

I've designed some saddle pack trays for my Procat...

Luke, this is part of the idea to get Fibrelyte to make lower chassis then drill holes to suit lipo holder

Luke, would you be interested if we could get Fibrelyte to make a version similar to the Cougar SV shown below (as you mentioned these in your thread).

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7260/7...aaf1759e62.jpg

If we could get them made as an individual holder for a single saddle (rather than joined together in the pic), then a pair could be positioned close together or apart (would this have an effect on weight balance?)

Moozo 12-07-2012 06:58 AM

I would John:thumbsup:

kaszal 12-07-2012 07:17 AM

With two neat cuts those could be separated into separate trays.

Rudebits also make separate trays...

john73 12-07-2012 03:49 PM

Luke, are they made of brass ?

Wonder what sort of price Fibrelyte could do for carbon fibre to match the chassis with carbon fibre brace.

But they would probably cost more than the £31 from Schumacher. With the alloy posts that's £41.50 hopefully get a 10% discount from the model shop then that's £37.35.

kaszal 12-07-2012 04:27 PM

Yeah, those Rudebits trays are brass. I'm only getting the trays and straps from Fibre-Lyte because then I can use the posts I already have...

I hope it will be a lot less than £40!

john73 16-07-2012 08:25 PM

Update on the build

Decided to fit the Cat SX shocks and a set of JC Racing wheels.

Also fitted the servo mounts

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7132/7...42081acb26.jpg

Just need bodyshell, undertray and wing

Think i have decided on the Team Bluegroove as i will be needing a body set for my Fibre-Lyte Bosscat when that gets built.

j0pp3 17-07-2012 12:08 PM

That car turned out veeeeery nice! I see carbon... and purple stuff
