I realise that this is not a set-up as such, but this website has some incredibly usefull information for all makes of car (not just AE) and explains things quite clearly if you use the "buggy set-up guide" on the left of the page :)

Well last night was my local indoor club racing night where I run my B4. Its a small twisty carpet track that has one straight usually of 40-50ft. Its usally good racing and my buggy goes ok. But last night it just didnt want to turn in at all under power, early mid corner. To the point where I was have to try and hook the break and skid it round the tight corners.

Does anyone have any setups/tips/ideas infact anything :eh?: for a small, tight indoor track on carpet. Jump wise there are only two small ramps which are no problem.

Thanks:(

Richard Lowe 17-02-2007 11:48 AM

How much antisquat and what wheelbase are you running? In those situations I'd either increase the antisquat or make the wheelbase longer.

PaulRotheram 17-02-2007 12:07 PM

few suggestions-

increase wheelbase
25 degree caster blocks
harder rear spring - this makes a huge difference, take it easy as the rear end will want to pivot more.
higher antisquat

FifteenthNeo 17-02-2007 12:39 PM

Richard, Paul, Jimmy thanks for the reply.
My setup is pretty much as follows to my knowledge:o

Richard Lowe 17-02-2007 01:07 PM

The stagger ribs wont be helping unless you're on really, really high grip carpet.

FifteenthNeo 17-02-2007 01:37 PM

I did use some new mini pins front and rear last week and found the car to be really aggressive in the handling. Oh, is such a pain when you aint got a bl:wtf::wtf:dy clue lol.

tc2k 17-03-2007 02:51 PM

Thankyou

Stick to a standard type of setup, Ash's one is nowhere near to what most people run, it's probably going to be more twichy and difficult to drive than the normal one.

ashleyb4 25-08-2007 12:00 PM

How dare you its not twitchy at all i hate twitchy cars i like a smooth car.

A

Southwell 25-08-2007 12:25 PM

25 deg blocks make it twichy, along with short wheelbase, etc etc. Plus isn't Bury astro not grass?
Im not trying to be harsh but if it was that good of a setup everyone would have something like it? I just said to keep the setup more standard than trying something completely different.

ashleyb4 25-08-2007 12:28 PM

because i move front shocks in it know where near what everyone else runs.

A

Southwell 25-08-2007 12:31 PM

Axel height, rear hub links, shock tower ball stud height, limiter in front shocks, caster blocks, rear antisquat, although i tried 0 and liked it.

ashleyb4 25-08-2007 12:34 PM

I started with yardys setup that he gave me then all ive done is changed the front shock oil to 35 from 30 and changed front shock possition as i was suffering from understeer.

Lowie 14-09-2007 12:56 PM

hey guys, wouldn't it be a good idea to also mention what kind of track these setups are for.
I mean, often the name of the track is mentioned buht since I am from Belgium, it is very difficult for me to discover what kind of track it is about: mud, sand, grass ...
It's not always mentioned on the bottom of the setup-sheet.

Or maybe if possible, just posting a resume of the different tracks, with some pics and track-description? That would be awsome!

I'm sorry. Maybe it is my lack of English but I do not understand in "B4 link is pretty detailed" what you mean by "B4 link".

Besides, most of the setup-sheet-links do not function anymore. I have tried them all, searching for a grass-setup sheet for wet and dry conditions. I could only find a dry condition-setup.
Did I overlook something in this thread?

ashleyb4 16-09-2007 08:34 PM

Most of the time we change very little if anything on the b4 in the wet just the tyres we change from schumacher yellow mini spikes to Ballisitic green spikes on wet grass.
