RC electric screwdriver advice needed.
 

Hi i'm looking to buy a electric screwdriver for my EDS tips.

We went to homebase but none of the drills fitted the eds tips,they were too big.

Would this work?

i want to homebase to try that one but my eds tip seems to small to fit in the inside of that.

I use the eds power driver tips

I wasn't expecting too much from the driver but it's a great tool, good value as some drivers only come with one battery, it also has loads of different torque setting that are required for what we use them for

Looks good,how big is it? cause i want something fairly small. Also does it have universal adjustment ? so you can screw in and out.

For size it's about the same size as any others, it has 21 tourque setting, hi and low speed, forward and reverse, it also locks so you can use it as a normall driver ( handy if you have a stubborn screw) the ones you linked to maybe nice and small but I think they are direct drive, I think you will end up stripping screws with them .

can i just ask,does this mean i have to buy the whole eds power tool tips?

because i have the standard eds tips.

Yes and no, you can buy a chuck for it from ebay for £1.99 delivered which will let you use the tips you have, or you can get the power tool tips.

This is the one I use, great peice of kit, great clutch on it with serveral settings and I use EDS Tool Tips with it !!

i have the bosch one (dremel and bosch same company) and mine has torque settijngs but its still too mich for rc, Dremel one is good as it has a instant brake on it and variable power control, however im off to screw fix tomorrow as they hitachi are the dogs nuts!!

but there a pain in tha ass as you have to fit each shaft, easier to but the puck tools for the driver

but again,when i went to homebase i took one eds tip with me and it didnt fit. But according to Crtpromachine they do?, if it fits then its perfect.

If not i'm not too sure, i could buy the adapter buy as Mark said they are a pain.

Usually these drivers use a 6mm hex, you could always use a 1/4" socket adaptor and find a socket that your EDS drivers fit snuggly into.
I work for a tool supplier so If there were enough interest in a load of these screwdrivers I could always sort out a good oOple discount ;)

If you have a 1/4" drive socket set try out each of your sockets if any fit your eds drivers (sorry I don't know the size). Then you can use one of these as an adaptor.

Check the for sale section!! The hitachi screwdriver is on sale at the moment and someone has posted a link to it... under £40!!!

I would avoid the bosch as it has no torque settings, so could strip threads..

+1 for the Hitachi from Screwfix. Bought one at Xmas and it's the daddy.

21 torque settings, high and low speed and a drill setting, plus you can lock it (handy for stubborn screws plus making sure it doesn't accidentally get turned on in your toolbox). 2 Li-on batteries and a carry case - all for under £40.

I bought a set of EDS imperial tips for my Associated gear and it really does make life simpler. The other week I had the front diff out of my B44, rebuilt and re-installed in 5 minutes flat.

nas you will find most buy the correct power tool tips, eds do a set and go for the hitachi one, the others are NOT as good even the bosch and im sponsored b bosch/dremel and have one of each i got given, but i have just tis morning bought a hitachi, the others are for wood screws etc and torgue settings do not suit our fine threads

Its got a keyless chuck so i can fit whatever i want,its a bit of hassle but saves me buying another set of tools,and my current eds tools are 3 weeks old lol.

Is the EDS tool hex the same as the fastrax multi tool hex?

No. Fastrax is smaller

Are there any other power tip tool sets besides the EDS ones?
I know OFNA did a set but are there any others?

First 3 are all high end kit. The 4th is a little more budget orientated!

Oh and If you are in funds mip/Thorpe do an amazing range in the USA.
They are the best out there but a little pricey!

So any small electric driver fit the Fastrax?

hi there, any idea what keyboards to search for at ebay to find that conversion chuck for EDS tips to power tips compatibility ? :)

:confused: you spent more than a hitachi one, you know have to unscrw your eds handles, and your hoping to get as much torque from a smooth shaft, the metric eds kit is only £18.00 so minus your £4 over spend on drill £14 would see you with complete hand tools and power tools :confused:
