Most difficult subject to photograph?

I tried some wildlife photography on holiday last week, it's harder than R/C.
Animals & stuff
Anyone come accross a harder subject?

Stu 12-09-2006 06:47 PM

Wow, those photos are fantastic :) I like the dog running along the beach, and I love the moon and the sunset photos.

great stuff stu.. yeah I found the motocross difficult in some ways but easier than rc cars in others.. I mean, the speed of them is so much slower relative to R/C cars, panning shots were loads easier because they are just far less erratic.
But there is loads more to photograph as well, loads more possibilities and scope for creativity.

I've not done loads of photography outside R/C, but I took photos for vickys friends daughters birthday (!) and that was hard, I really felt like a nob doing all this cheezy "look at me I'm a photographer" stuff.

Stu 12-09-2006 08:37 PM

On our wedding day we specifically told the photographer we did'nt want staged pictures but that they should all be natural candid ones. She did an excdellent job.
Natural looking people shots are difficult, not tecnically (thats the easy bit) but predicting what they will do in time to get the picture is hard. It's the opposite way around to race cars.

jimmy 12-09-2006 08:45 PM

Yeah, we had my mate from work do our wedding photos. He used his and my nikon D70's (one with a 50mm 1.4 and one with the 80-200 2.8 or 18-70mm on)
Reason we wanted him, I guess first I didnt want to spend 2 grand!, but mainly because unless you spend a LOT of money, you are likely to get someone who quite literally is a cheeze ball. ! lol. I mean, the usual cheezy same-ole stuff, a lot of people like that sort of thing but its not for me.

I am having a right mare at the mo trying to find a photographer (getting marryed next september) Jimmy and Stu you should both start doing weddings the cheapest I have found so far 900 pound.:(

Stu 12-09-2006 09:01 PM

How about spending money & free beer all night.

OldTimer 12-09-2006 09:03 PM

I have done a couple of weddings with a friend, he sorted it all out and i was the second photographer, scarey stuff as you are under real pressure to perform, and you only get one shot, but the money and food is good lol.

jimmy 12-09-2006 09:07 PM

We had a small wedding, so apart from close family and my mate/photographer there really wasnt anyone there! I really wasn't up for anything too big. My friend got married in manilla (I think), and I think it was something like 3 guests he had and his wife had around 150 or more.. They like big weddings over there I guess.

Buy yea, I got asked the other day and I still have to think wether I can handle the responsibility of it. I am not one of these people who can do a crap job and be happy, I would be gutted with anything other than perfect, especially at someone elses wedding.

OldTimer 12-09-2006 09:12 PM

Yes its pretty tricky if you screw up, but we had three cameras, and i used the 300mm for the candid shots which is ideal, as people don't have a clue you are take there photo, so the act naturaly which makes some great photos.

I can see it now "Oople Wedding Photography" :D

craigosh 13-09-2006 10:55 AM

Photographing animals for staged shots now thats hard... NEVER try and do an ad campaign with an untrained boxer dog!!!

Drunk people at parties are the easiest..
