HobbyWing Software?
Hi there I have a HobbyWing v2.1 120amp and im wanting to update to the xtreme software, how do I do it? and what software do I have to download on the lcd box and esc. Many thanks Louis
|
What do you mean by the "xtreme" software? If you mean 'blinky' mode you need the one that says "no timing" and if you want boosted you need "508 STOCK" HTH :)
|
The standard 1.64 software download is here
The new 3.1 software is here When you install it (as Pete says) 508_NoTiming is for blinky mode, and other versions can do timing. The 3.1 software can run with all versions of speedos including the new V3 controllers, whilst the 1.64 software will run on speed controllers up to 2.1 Any questions, please shout :) Thanks Chris |
There's an excellent step by step guide on YouTube that shows you how to upgrade software.
The software you want to run will depend on what car and class you are running. I run the 'mod' software on mine for off road. I put the new 3.1 software on the programming box and it didn't want to talk with my v2.1. I need to investigate further. .... |
re v3.1 soft ware
i did same thing use the other firmware downloaded (within 3.1) v1.08 050412 (or something v.similiar i think) it will talk to V2.1 and extreme stocks again  fid |
If you put that on the programming box then it'll only work with the V3 Speedo.
You have two options here: 1: Downgrade the box back to the 2.1 compatible software and it'll work again. 2: Connect via a copy of the 2.1 software (v1.6.4) using the upgraded box and change parameters on the PC rather than using the box. |
"If you put that on the programming box then it'll only work with the V3 Speedo"
i think politely you may be incorrect there are two sets of firmware within 3.1 one as you quite rightly say is for v3 speedos the other v1.08 040512 (or something very similiar ) allows you to talk to v2 hobbywing etc ask me how i know !!! regards fid |
Does any of the software talk to both?
|
as far as i can tell so far
if you have a V2.0 V2.1 or extreme stock and a V3 you can use V3.1 latest software but you will have to reflash your LCD programmer via laptop or pc each time you change from v3 to others i do of course stand to be corrected by the experts on here just what i have found so far by downloading v3.1 after being prompted by an update regards Fid |
Trial and error = expert lol
I'll try it out tonight and see what happens. I have an old led box to adjust things if needed. |
Realy easy way i do it is plug my Pro Box into my esc on the car then plug the other lead into my pc and then let the software update itself from the website. Job done, No probs at all as also been updating the new Bullistorm esc that is out so it doesnt blow up for other members of our club.
Plus what i`ve found is the Pro Box will only show what your able to adjust dependant on what esc you plug in. Eg an Xerun will be different to an Ezrun and so on. |

i think once againfrom past experience once you have gone to v1.64 or above the red led box no longer works on xerun series esc |

At least the programming boxes aren't £60 so no major hardship there. |
For the V2.1, V2.0 and Xtreme Stock speedos - at time of writing (because HW change things all the time without sufficient documentation)...
1. Download and install the software package v3.1 - http://www.hobbywing.com/upload/soft...tup_120517.rar (older installations may prompt you to update automatically) 2. Run the software on your PC as an administrator (right click on the program to get this option, you can also set it to do this every time under the "Properties" option). 3. Wire everything up - Computer to LCD program box via USB; LCD box to ESC via receiver cable; ESC connected to the running battery and switched on. 4. Update the LCD Box first - on the "Device" menu select "LCD Program Box". In the left hand column select "Firmware upgrade". Update to V1.08_120504 (not the version marked xxx_V3). 5. Next, update the ESC - on the "Device" menu select "ESC". In the left hand column select "Firmware upgrade". In the drop down menu you will have a variety of softwares - 930STOCK is the latest stock motor version with maximum boost; 930MOD is a modified motor version with less boost; 508_NO_TIMING is the "blinky" mode; 205MOD is an older modified software with no boost. These will cover most racers needs. If the update fails (not unusual), try again. 6. Switch off the ESC and unplug the cables. You are now up to date with all the software. As far as the settings go, I would recommend leaving them at the defaults and changing one thing at a time if the feel is wrong. Explaining the settings is another thread's worth of info! Hopefully this is clear. |
eloquently and accurately written
like wot i said but just better !!!!:D Fid |
I was under the imprecation 3.1v was for the v3 speedo so don't be surprised if it do's not work on the V2.1 speedo. Not sure so if it do's work please post back.

If you don't put the V3 specific software on, then you're good to go. I'm working on a FAQ section on the CPD Racing site at the moment, should be ready by Monday/Tuesday of next week. Things like: Software installations Programming box firmwares Speedo firmwares Starting points wiring boosters 1s settings, blinky mode etc etc |
One little tip for you:
If you put the V3 firmware on the programming box, you CAN still use it with a 2.1 speedo. To do this, plug it in to the PC software, it will warn you to update the firmware otherwise ! If you plug it into the PC, you can update the settings from the PC software and send back to the ESC as normal, but not with the box alone. |

Just put up a section on the site for some information on the Hobbywing products. We'll add more in the near future, but if there's a specific item you'd like shown (how to set up for TC etc) then let us know ! |
Hobbywing program box with Orion (or others)
Has anyone got the Hobbywing box to work with the Orion R10 yet? They used to be compatiable across all platforms and I wasa hoping with the V3 software that it may have been.... but couldn't get it to work (admittedly didn't try hard)
I'm still using it through the PC fine though and have the box set for the 1S. |
Hello chaps,

Hi all
I just got a HW program box and it has software V1.17_140315 I have never heard of this software and wonder if I can get the V1.08 on there again? Thanks |
Yes ,download the HW software ,connect the box to your PC with a USB cable and the software should allow you from the drop down list to choose the firmware that you want.😁
|
The speedpassion software also works with the hobbywing ESC. I was having trouble downloading the hobbywing one so I tried the speed passion one and it worked.
