new HotBodies buggy?? (photos!!)
hi on the net i've found this http://pds.exblog.jp/pds/1/200609%2F...F1671578%2Ejpg
http://www13.ocn.ne.jp/~mirage-j/gal.../06off7_04.jpg it seems a new 4wd buggy from HB......i can't found a closer pic of the car could anyone post one here? Bye! |
darn its hard to see :( Hope it is a new buggy.. it seems to be using the bj4we shell but it doesnt look like a bj4we to me.
that tamiya is mad looking, the shell I mean.. |
The more I look at it the more I think its a modified bj4, different shocks etc, but basically a bj4. probably wrong though ! :)
The tamiya looks cool as well, darn them and their little photos. The warm up looks fun, I really wish I was going to the worlds :( http://www13.ocn.ne.jp/~mirage-j/gallery/06off.htm |
found another photo which looks identical to the two hotbodies buggies above
http://driveon.cocolog-nifty.com/pho...0_10430001.jpg looks like a bj4we shell, but definately something else. what is it ? is it a BX ? |
mmm, whats this ? http://driveon.cocolog-nifty.com/pho...9_17560001.jpg
A kyosho zx5 update ? |
http://driveon.cocolog-nifty.com/pho...9_00360001.jpg
I wonder if that is the hotbodies shell ?? its a bj4we shell but remoulded by the looks of it, since the scoops are angled back and slightly larger maybe. its also setup for mounting on the yokomo BX (or hotbodies car/ same thing) |
The HB car looks to have the same configuration as the Yokomo BX and the Tamiys, hinting at equal length belts, mid-motor design, kinda cool to be honest.
And if that Tamiya has done well, might even see it go into production, I best get saving. |
I hope it is a new HB buggy and not just a BX with a couple of different bits on to make it look like their sponsors car.
|
if it is a HB car, then it will be all their parts Jim, just pinched the layout from elsewhere, lol.
|
what a short memory you lot have its a tamiya
http://www.oople.com/forums/attachme...5&d=1147962101 |
lol, I think you jumped in a bit quick there carl. you can see the latest tamiya prototype at the top of this page, and it looks nothing like the "HB" cars at all.
I have to wonder why Hotbodies would be running a prototype tamiya ? lol :p Thats like Masami helping to develop the BJ4we. The BJ4we-hybrid shell like the HB guys are running in this thread is setup for running on the BX or pretty much identical car, the tamiya has 2 body posts at the front, the BX has one in the centre. Reading a crap translation of the text, the white shell (bj4we style) was given out to BX drivers at the pre-worlds race. Goodness knows what that means. reading even more crap translation, it makes reference to the HotBodies car using pro4 gearboxes and bj4 parts. |
I can remember in a thread a while ago Jason @ Jconcepts confirmed that he had supplied Tamiya with a load of BJ4WE parts :)
Would be nice to see the HB car up close, i hope they try something a little different to the standard layouts. |
Hope so.. I certainly do hope both these buggys make it to production.
Here is a link to a couple of threads with photos from the pre-worlds in japan http://www.rcmx.net/modules/news/art...p?storyid=1866 - you have to dig a little to get anywhere. There is a photo of a 2wd kyosho on there, but its hard to tell wether its a home-brew update for the Kyosho Ultima TypeR, or an official Kyosho development car. |
|
oooo interesting that bx shell..
On that pic at the top of the thread, with hara in, on the right side, is that one of the tamiyas shells painted up in his colors!!!???!!! |
http://www.geocities.jp/goauruds/_gl..._/DSC01218.JPG
does look like it doesnt it, interesting!! good find on the new BX shell kentech, I dont understand why its a modified BJ4we though ? !? ! did they think we would not notice ? :p I see they have some mr4-bx stickers now too!! does that mean no one will want jimmy ones any longer ? haha |
at least it looks better than the old one, i hated it
wonder if it will the bj4 |
I'd have thought so, though the hump on the left is a bit misplaced for the bj4.
I guess this is the same shell seen on the HB buggys, so I hope that doesn't mean the HB's are BX's, everywhere Ive seen results etc its described the cars as HB's, have to wait and see some photies leak out I guess. I should start a "send jimmy to the worlds" fund, I'll get the photies!:jimmeh |

The photo I put in with the yellow bj4style body IS a BX, but now I look again at the first photo in this thread, things become a bit clearer. The HB buggys dont have a clear cover like you mention, they have a curved black gearbox.
Could be a crappy disguise! blue peter style.. or could actually be their own car, possibly cobbled together from their own and others bits. |
Maybe Jconcepts are doing the Shells ?
|
Could be.. I'd imagined they had just nicked it for a quick prototype shell, nothing wrong with that. But it seems to be a new Bx shell. I dont know if they changed the roof line at all, or maybe its those big scoops, but I think it looks nicer than the bj4 shell.
|
HPI actualy made a prototype 4wd off rd car a good few years back. 5-6 years ago at a guess. Jamie Booth did a lot of work on it i think when he worked at Mirage.
If they are going the shaft route they onviously already have the Pro 4 stuff to base it around. If they go belts, they have the cyclone diffs and parts if tey so wish. They would likely pick the transmission and build it themselves then take suspension from other cars. This was how they did the Pro 4 ages back. Initially it just looked like a carbon twin deck TC£ - cos that's what it was!!!! |
It doesn't need that scoop in the roof though, the motor is in front of the top of the roof and the batteries are way down low...
Cosmetics..pft.. Loving all the new cars though.. Looks like the HB could be shaft drive with the two piece front gearbox, or it could be a shield, the front tower looks way flimsy and not like anything else, I reckon it's a new car altogether.. |
I think this will make it much clearer:
While arranging the gear box of PRO4 constitute on front and back, from before with battery constitution, holding down trend from in the motor and rear, it was impressive to become the secure making. Presently it seemed that uses those of BJ4 provisionally concerning the underside. Because both gap running the whole distance characteristic and cornering efficiency it seems that is high level, selling this way, it is appealing rank, but concerning sale concerning details still it was undecided thing. hahaha :p |
More from the race here:
http://www.f-sangyo.co.jp/endo/EPof_...apan_2006.html Getting more and more OT here but here's the Kyosho 2wd. http://www.f-sangyo.co.jp/endo/EPof_...A/IMG_0009.jpghttp://www.f-sangyo.co.jp/endo/EPof_...A/IMG_0010.jpghttp://www.f-sangyo.co.jp/endo/EPof_...A/IMG_0011.jpg |
doesnt look that dissimilar to the last ultima...
what is it with these guys and small pics, its not like they're using crappy cameras :-( wonder if that tamiya shell will fit the BJ looks quite interesting.. |
from the looks of it, this is more like the Associated B3X than the B4, it definately looks like just an update to the TypeR Ultima. Should be a decent car though.
I'm with you craig, I can't understand what is with all these tiny images!!!! we want detail! |
that kyosho 2wd looks like a more simple b4:confused: maybe they copied!!!!!
|
From what i got told on the weekend, 2 Of the HB cars got in top 3 at worlds warm up.. But no one really got any pictures... so by the sounds HB have got a prototype!:)
With hpi.. i remeber a proto pro 4 offroad, but with no slipper the gear box's couldnt really take it! altho they got the cyclone now....... N.;) |
I've just put a news article on the HB Europe site about the upcoming 4WD buggy: http://www.hbeurope.com/news/en/2006100301.html
It's due in the spring of 2007 :) |
Thanks for the news Frank
Is there anything else you can tell us about he buggy ? I realise its a prototype still, but are the any firm choices such as drivetrain type, cell layout etc ? ? Will there be a UK team ? (skelding ??) :) |
All we've seen so far are the body-on shots, so no word on the layout, etc. I think it could go either way, between shaft (Pro 4) and mimicing the current belt layouts. Not sure about a UK team but it is something we'll have to consider :)
|
Well I can't wait to see some more, its great that some of the bigger names are getting involved in 10th off road, with HB/HPi and Tamiya both now due to release buggys before the worlds next year.
Heres hoping a 2wd is on the drawing board also! :) If you have any more info to share, feel free anytime ;) |

2.5 kits, can't realy count the Schumacher in on this anymore, lol.
Definately would be fun, another big name in the 2wd market. |
Cant wait for this car to be uncovered. I believe it will be a very good car if the touring car technology is anything to go by.
|
Hpi is surely one of the biggest names in RC, and putting the time and money into 10th off road is a great sign. very cool indeed.
|
Just so happens that my sponsor is the importer for Hpi/Hotbodies. WOW. Cant wait to drive it. I am like a little child that knows what he is getting for xmas.:D
|
HPi are big, if I remember they are in the top 10, it goes
1.Tamiya 2. Kyosho 3. Futaba/ O.S 4, AE/Tunder Tiger 5-10, HPi's in there somewhere LOL jsut need a 4wd from Ae, and futaba to make their first car hehehe. they have the money;) |
