Lewis Hamilton stripped of Pole!

Just read this, apparently the FIA call foul on the car not being returned to the pits, under its own steam?
As it reads in the rules, 1.3 ltrs of fuel have to be extracted for examination, this as i read it only left .03 of a ltr in the car, hence, not enough to return to the box, and illegal.
Hamilton now starts from the back of the grid!!!!!

Is this another Whitmarsh cock up,or is it me? Seems Mclaren want to do nothing but throw Championship points away lately.

Anyways, come on Kimi, get in there son, show these FIA fools and there greasy tyres ruling how its done, seems this FIA want nothing but precession races, really not digging the tyres this year, ridiculous!

The refueller turned the tap to drain instead of fill briefly, but the engineers had to send Hamilton out anyway as there wasn't time to sort it out, in the hope of dealing with the problem afterwards. Don't know how you can blame Whitmarsh for that but no doubt plenty will.

The irony is the rule was only changed after Hamilton stopped on track in Canada 2010 qualifying, to prevent cars being underfuelled and stopping just after the finish line in qualifying.

Although throwing him out of qualifying entirely is a new one, I guess McLaren was expecting to still be tenth at worst if they hadn't managed to argue their case.

reg 12-05-2012 09:16 PM

what about the other car that stopped on track,or was that a tec problem,

DCM 12-05-2012 09:20 PM

To be fair, he should of lost that lap time, not all his times, very unfair, typical FIA.

bodgit 12-05-2012 09:21 PM

Rules are rules and I would think McClaren would have wanted the same result if a red bull driver did the same. Trouble is now we have a potential disaster for Lewis as he will have to plough through a load of far slower cars without the help of the blue flag who will be fighting their own battle for positions. Fairness should have been a drop to 10th as he had already satisfied qualifying 1 and 2 rules.

mdb_75 12-05-2012 09:25 PM

A grid drop of five or ten places would've been more appropriate than what he's been given, he looked so pleased with how he had done too! Poor lad..

Nas 12-05-2012 10:41 PM

Lewis must be gutted!,him and his brother Nicolas looked so happy.

The FIA are a bunch of idiots, they have made Formula 1 too safe, racing should never be safe!,all the fun is about the danger and the excitement, now a days if someone touches someones front wing they get a penalty. They were idiots back in the 1990s (Senna's years) and there idiots now.

I have been watching formula 1 since i was like 5,and i remember it was more exciting back then!.

Having said that, this season is the best ever season for many years, I do hope red bull come out on top again with Sebastien:thumbsup: ( that's just me being very German, sorry.)

Thanks.

Your right there lol,
I am gutted for lewis he doesn't have much luck with the bloody stewards , I was well happy when he bagged pole infact I shouted so loud I made my nan jump and she was out our conservatory which is about 25 meters away from the tv room , it is a shame as it would of been the first win of the season for him IMO, I just hope he can fight his way through the field and finish in a respectable position as he deserves......

DCM 13-05-2012 08:19 AM

The way I see it, it is a team effort, the team made a mistake, so the team pay, but I do think that the penalty should of been to lose that lap, as by cancelling his total Q period, that is saying that they ran the car light ALL the session.

DC tweeted last night that one lap of fuel was 0.1s extra, not 0.57 of a second.

CHEVY 13-05-2012 10:55 AM

BET IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN TO THE GERMANS

AS USUAL KICK THE BRITS

Nas 13-05-2012 11:24 AM

Its nothing to do with nationality!

CHEVY 13-05-2012 11:42 AM

Everybody has there own opinion

ralphee 13-05-2012 11:50 AM

To think race, or nationality influences these decisions, takes a very narrow, and simple mind.
This is a ruling by the FIA, and im sure Kobayashi, would have had the same penalty had his car been deemed to be too light of fuel, rather than a technical problem.

Im still out on this season, the tyres are bugging me, if anything, there killing the racing, for instance, Kimi hounding down Vettel the other week, relatively new tyres, but push to hard to catch the guy in front, the precession still reigns, as you have shot your bolt in catching said guy in front.

Therefore, we see no real contest into corners unless its a false DRS pass off the main straight, as i said, im not sold this season.

In any case, im a Mclaren supporter sinc i was very young, but today, think i fancy a Lotus, mainly Kimi, he's working hard for it IMO.

just for anyone watching the race now take a look on the bbc website. The onboard camera's are great viewing.

Nas 13-05-2012 12:30 PM

Or for people on Sky sports, press the red button for all the on board action.

bodgit 13-05-2012 01:45 PM

Another great mix up for the results. Great season so far.

knighthawk 13-05-2012 02:20 PM

Lewis for the man of the day !!

Only one of 2 driver's to do a 2 stop strategy and make it work and still be racing at the end of the GP

And for a man known for being hard on his tyres

Well done Lewis, role on Monaco

Nas 13-05-2012 03:26 PM

If anyone is still watching there has been a MASSIVE fire in the Williams garage, all mechanics from all team trying to keep it under control,a couple of people rushed to hospital.

Nas 13-05-2012 03:32 PM

Kers related issue. Kers battery exploded which is under the fuel tank.

Bruno Sennas car is destroyed.

http://www.f1technical.net/forum/vie...p?p=343550&f=1

It was THICK black smoke, electrical fire which set some carbon fiber stuff on fire. Frank Williams and the team were celebrating at the time, but they were all rushed out and hopefully all are ok.

Few people are in the medical center/hospital,

steve-thebabystore 13-05-2012 04:17 PM

What a strange day at the office for them!

eyeayen 13-05-2012 04:56 PM

Who's idea was it to put a battery under the fuel tank ?

As long as everyone is okay though.

its good to see all the teams helped. mind i supose its one of those situation where any rival team is dropped and its all hands to help

it was prob damaged in the shunt with schumacher, as the winning car was still in parc ferme

matthew 13-05-2012 07:08 PM

Well done to williams for taking the win they really deserved it although I am a mclaren fan, it's a big shame about the bad luck williams had after the race, 1 minute we was watching Ted kravitz giving an interview and then in the background a big fire ball shooting across the williams garage :wtf:, glad everyones okay though because it could of quite easily gone the other way.

The drive of the day has got to go to Lewis, just a shame he couldn't of had another lap so he could of taken 7th from Nico but he done well to finish 8th from 24th on the grid .

Nas 13-05-2012 07:24 PM

Mark-they were fixing his car in the garage, well it was mainly fixed then the fire broke out,Now it was black smoke, very thick, could this be because of the melting of Carbon fiber? and the electrical fire.

Chequered flag-they normally have a spare car, however they need to reset ALL the settings,so yes Bruno will loose some grid places, and he really cant afford that. There calling Bruno senna's car off,its a goner.

At least we know that Williams have the pace and could be the team at the top of the grid now (if they maintain there pace and skill), another win for another racer, very interesting season, I do hope red bull improve a little more.Vettel had some good over takes though.

Everyone is fine, just a few people inhaled the fumes and some slight burn marks, but everything is ok and everyone is fine,as for the spare parts and car in the garage.Well they've seen better days.

Couldn't agree with you more,Lewis done a superb drive!,Consistent and smooth, although Mclaren still need to improve their pit stops. Someone dropped or forgot to pick up their wheel drill from the floor and he ran over it,and he stopped to check if everything was ok,which cost him some time.

Micheal schumacher being himself, crashed into the back of Bruno,Bruno moved to the right so Micheal could take the inside line as he was faster, but he thought it would be better to crash into the back of bruno then radio in 'stupid'

Can't wait for Monaco,

mark christopher 13-05-2012 07:52 PM

i doubt the carbon fibre would burn like that otherwise there sending drivers out in a highly flamable race tub....... more likley electrical that smoke

SlowOne 13-05-2012 08:03 PM

All that dust and black smoke looked like the LiPo cell that went off next to me at the National last March. Is that what they use in the KERS system? Not nice at all IME. Hope everyone's OK.

bodgit 13-05-2012 08:18 PM

Seeing it all gain on youtube I wonder if the FIA will look at banning kers now. As the Bbc team said the teams have plenty of firefighting equipement in the garage but in that smoke they would'nt be able to find them.

DCM 13-05-2012 08:26 PM

It isn't the carbon that burns, it is the resin, plus oils and residual fuel along with the battery. Scary shit though.
