Summer Wednesday Evening Practice Sessions

In response to requests from members we will be holding monthly open practice sessions over the Summer. Dates are:

12th June
10th July
14th Aug
11th Sept

Aim to run from 6.30pm until about 9.15pm. We need to clear the site by 9.30pm as we cannot afford to risk upsetting the local residents with noise too late into the evening and it will be dark anyway).

Costs will be members £2, non-members £5. We need to charge as we will need to pay additional rent to the farmer.

I hope to be able to set up the PC/speakers to allow us to have the timing in the same way as we do for open practice on Sundays but I'll be relying on one of the regular race directors to give me a bit of tuition on this so you may have to bear with us for the first one.

Hopefully these will be a bit of fun. Ideal oppoprtunity for newer drivers to pick the brains of the more experienced drivers and get help to set up their cars away from the pressure of a race day.

Be helpful to get an indication of those who intend coming. We realistically need around 12 members to attend to break-even financially. We'll run the first couple and see how we get on - we are running these in response to requests so please support them.:)

That is fantastic news. I, as well as others have wanted this for a couple of years.
Many thanks to the committee for organising this. I am and always have been fully aware of the issues involved with trying to set this up, so am more than grateful for the opportunity.
I will be there. Just hope the weather is also.
Thanks guys.

Weather is looking a bit iffy for tomorrow night, is this still on?

RobW 11-06-2013 05:56 PM

Yes, weather not looking good for tomorrow:mad:

Really do not want to cancel it after so much interest shown but also do not want people to travel and cancel at last minute.

Think probably probably the best I can suggest is I leave it until tomorrow lunchtime and make a call based on latest forecast then. To be honest I am not optimistic based on current forecast but they been known to get it completely wrong.

If cancelled I'll try and find an alternative date.

Had an excellent evening's practice tonight, plenty of other drivers to dice with and I changed more on the car and tried more things than I would have dared to on a race day.

Shame about the timing gear not turning up, hope it's there next time but nonetheless I feel sure I improved the car as regular A finalist Dibble (thanks for the advice re shock oils) said we were lapping at about the same pace at one point:woot:

Also thanks to Steve B for the advice on springs-we'll see if it makes an improvement on Sunday.

Only bad point was my El Cheapo Fastrax wheel:thumbdown: (fitted with a freshly glued cut stagger which seemed to hugely improve the on-power steering) smashing like a piece of bone china after 3 laps. Remember, if you're having tea with the queen, get some Fastrax wheels but if you're going racing, you really need Kyosho ones.

I've been away unfortunately due to my Cancer treatment so didn't get a chance to start racing earlier this year. This is fantastic news to help get a novice going. I don't know whether I need to formally book somewhere but out me down for the 10th July and ongoing.

Thanks
