Thanks fella, it's flouro red and normal red with a bit of black shading on it.

Julian - Cheers mate but I only copied an Arai crash helmet so can't really take too much credit

Stu - I do my best

More on the way... hopefully before Christmas :lol::lol:

I am still alive but not really painting much any more due to health reasons.

This is a 5th scale I did last summer.

You can see the Chameleon Pearl used on the red in this shot.

And another shell for Badger5 my best customer !

Nice to see some more of your work Ian, the detail on the 5th scale is epic.

andys 18-03-2015 02:28 PM

Great to see some new stuff from your good self :)
That 5th Scale shell is INSANE!

Thank you fella, it was very very time consuming, working bigger is easier but then there is always more of it. Didn't even get many comments on the 5th scale forum but apparently that was due to shell it was on rather than the paintwork ???? Nice to work big though.

Thank you very much sir. Very good of you to say so.

Erm, honestly, I don't know, it's just what I do, stupidly insane jobs that no one else will take on because they just take too long. Luckily I had a job that paid well too so these were just a hobby but I am the slowest painter in the world.

The photo's have come out dreadful of these actually. The Gulf racing one has different blacks on it to pick out the window surround against what would have been carbon on the real one, doesn't show. The chameleon pearl on that fifth scale ( is also on the orange on the GULF ) just doens't show up, It flips through red and gold to green to completely transparent like it's not there, mental paint. And those lines on the fith scale shell are all flake, complete glitteryness in proportions you'd normally only see on a disco ball, again, lost in my photography.

Glad you enjoyed looking chaps and thanks for the kind comments

jonmiller 23-03-2015 09:56 PM

Oh well, if they don't appreciate it bud, we do.

(Hope all is well dude, not heard from ya in some time)

eyeayen 24-03-2015 01:10 AM

Thanks Jon, just busy with other stuff and not as into the painting as I used to be. Will give you a shout via email soon fella.

eyeayen 13-04-2015 01:55 PM

From time to time customers do ask me to do some seemingly odd stuff. When this chap said can you make my shell look like a Stealth Fighter... I wasn't sure what to make of it, my technical illustration background sprang to mind and here's what I did...

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...psnmghazp2.jpg

Ashlandchris 13-04-2015 02:22 PM

Fantastic. When I look at the stealth fighter it is often deceiving to try to work out shapes and lines due to the visual effect, and this achieves exactly the same. Hard to see what are lines, body shapes etc.

It wouldn't be to my taste, but that means we always have a variety of looks on the line - everybody has their own particular designs they like.

eyeayen 13-04-2015 03:06 PM

@ashlandchris - Thank you. It's not to my taste really and I definitely couldn't use it on the track but it's what the customer wanted so I just go with that. Was a bit of a challenge, it came with a blue film over it so was very difficult to judge colours but it's come out good and is winging it's way to him in the post now

Not that he'll ever be able to find it!!!

cutting42 15-04-2015 12:46 AM

Many thanks to Ian for indulging my little idea. I fancied something a bit different and thought the angles on the B44.1 bodyshell might work and Ian and I spent a while figuring how it might work and how to get the faceted design on the F117 represented onto a body.

I think he has done an awesome job, it will be raced but it is not my regular racing colours so might just come out for practice every so often when the weather is good.

Thanks Ian and see you during the racing season!

eyeayen 15-04-2015 11:17 AM

Thanks for the review fella

eyeayen 25-07-2015 12:13 PM

I've just completed this HPI Baja 5th scale shell with a Breaking Bad theme. All paint no vinyl of any sorts.

andys 25-07-2015 09:20 PM

WOW !!!!

Amazing.

eyeayen 26-07-2015 12:59 AM

@N Design - Thanks Neil. Only doing one or two shells here and there, pretty much stopped now. One more left here to do then I'm going to call it a day. I have some other stuff going on so can't concentrate on these like I want to.

@Andys - Cheers fella, took a lot of time to work it all out and the portrait had to be brush painted, it's about the size of an iPhone, maybe a bit smaller.

Xracer 26-07-2015 08:11 AM

Superb!

Xracer 26-07-2015 08:17 AM

Pure artistry Ian, I just can't conceive how you do that and how long it must have taken, the face, lettering and carbon effect are absolutely brilliant!

eyeayen 26-07-2015 10:18 PM

@Xracer - Thanks you for your kind words. I guess it was about 40 hours work in total. The lettering I draw out on computer and cut masking for, then it's just a case of painting it in. The "smoke" was free hand with curves to create it. The portrait all painted by hand. That was the most difficult but and last piece I did but it really brought the shell together !

Once again, thanks for your kind words

andys 26-07-2015 10:23 PM

I love all the green smoke stuff Ian - the whole thing is just fantastic.
Colour choices are spot on and as you say the portrait is the icing on the cake.
Best paint job i've seen in ages. If you took the face off the front - it would still be amazing :)

eyeayen 26-07-2015 10:26 PM

You're being too kind AndyS - your stuff is tip top mate, I love your designs because they're so thought out and "designed" the crisp lines are super cool fella. Thanks for the praise though, means a lot coming from you.

jonmiller 15-08-2015 09:48 AM

really nice looking theme buddy :)

eyeayen 21-10-2015 12:17 PM

Thanks Jon, sorry not on here so much these days, only just seen your reply.

jonmiller 23-10-2015 08:18 AM

not a problem bud, neither am i matey. hope normal work is going well for you still.

gainsy 23-10-2015 08:44 AM

Simply awesome dude :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

eyeayen 14-10-2019 09:36 PM

Well, it's been 4 years since I was last here... and none of my old pics are here due to photobucket going so, would someone be kind enough to tell me how you post pics nowadays.
Thanks.
Glad to see some familiar names still posting.

Ashlandchris 14-10-2019 09:55 PM

Welcome back!! We need to see Tron again 😀

Use imgur basically the same as photobucket but free

eyeayen 15-10-2019 05:45 PM

Thanks Ashlandchris. I don't know why everyone was so obsessed with that shell.

Tyreman - Thank you, I shall look into that later and get it sorted.

I have google photo, will that do it ? I don't want to have a link I want to actually see the pic in the post. Imgur seems to be very accessible to everyone. I'd rather my own album that I can share via here but it can't be widely seen otherwise.

When you upload you photo's change the album from public to private.
It gives you the bbcode which you enter into the picture link and it put the pictures on the post not a link.
If you want to keep the size the same as the page change the size to 1024.

eyeayen 15-10-2019 10:05 PM

So technically then, this should work...

eyeayen 15-10-2019 10:08 PM

I'm not looking to take on any more work ever as it made me ill but it will be nice to be on here again and share some of my old work and any new shells I do purely for myself. And chat to you lot of airbrush wizards again.

Aire valley 16-10-2019 03:08 PM

It did work, and it's a great looking shell....such crisp lines etc..well done..👏
No sense in making yourself ill...just enjoy doing what you can..

andys 17-10-2019 10:12 AM

Nice to see you back on here fella - I still post very occasionally - but put most things on my FB page these days : https://www.facebook.com/shillyshells

Thanks fella, it's an old shell, maybe 2012 or there abouts. I don't have anything new but thought probably a lot of people haven't seen my work so wanted to post some of the best ones again. It's all good to chat to other painters but I can see the forum isn't as busy as it used to be.

When I figured I'd like to try racing again it was the first place I thought of, then I realised photobucket had gone (in effect) so decided I should maybe post a few of my old designs up. You FB page is looking cool fella. Nice to see you still knocking out those awesome design, super neat. I took on way too much work before to the extent I stopped racing to keep up, still couldn't catch up, made myself very ill through stress and gave up RC entirely. Will be good to get back to just racing and my own shell but no one elses.
