By the way, seems Chris has organised with Stu to use his XX for the enduro, but seems to think he can use his X6 as a backup, obviously I've tried to quash this straight away, team vintage all the way baby. What other complete runners to we have should the worst come to the worst?

G, what weapon have you decided to run, you're not going to bugger about running a different car every run or anything like that are you?

PS Jimmy are you racing this weekend sat and/or sunday?

Chrislong 04-01-2007 02:29 PM

Ive missed racing over Xmas (Baaah Humbug), so im looking forward to Saturday night and Sunday... :)

I have my spare receiver loose, ready for plantation into a vintage beasty. Will I need my own motor, think I have a 13 turn arm somewhere I can use.

Stu 04-01-2007 05:07 PM

I think Sunday-Best only has one control motor left from the 8 discounted ones, I think he has some more tho, they are £9.

(On the subject of motors I still owe some of you the £2 cash-back from the motors, I can't remember who tho.)

The XX just needs a motor in it, it currenly has a KO receiver. The wiring is like a birds nest & it seems to have zero pack (feels like maybe blue pistons with 10wt oil!). It's there though, if anyone wants to sort the above issues as the day goes on then please be my guest.

It would be nice if someone would lend out a proper pre-1990 car tho as the XX is just retro rather than vintage.

John, what've ya got?

Oscar 04-01-2007 05:20 PM

Stu, its suitably vintage and borrowed:rolleyes:
As I will only be able to make this one meeting, I really cant justify buying a motor especially for it. I was planning to use either a mabuchi 540 or an old 27t as long as no one has any major objections.

Stu 04-01-2007 05:26 PM

That's fine.

WHITTLER555 04-01-2007 06:22 PM

John, are you on about Vintage at York or the Enduro??

If it's the Enduro then my trusty 10x3 will be going in the RC10 Stealth!!;)

Northy 04-01-2007 06:30 PM

I have ProCat ready for Saturday night.

On Sunday I'll have RC10 stealth, and just preparing YZ10 and XX.

York.

10x3:o its old and borrowed, id have to run on 3 cells:D

super__dan 05-01-2007 11:10 AM

He's not kidding, proper old school. Even that old 6 gear I ran last time would look ultra modern comparred to this!

Northy 05-01-2007 12:42 PM

YZ10 just needs receiver for Sunday (Jim ;) ), 10 x 2 and 4200's :o

Does anyone know the transmission ratio of a YZ10?

G

super__dan 05-01-2007 01:05 PM

Has everyone got tatty old wings so they can quick change the transponder?

I would say just chuck it in the car but mine wouldn't work properly like that at York and we don't want to lose any laps.

Julie prepped and ready for action, I assume she's been practising all week?

Northy 05-01-2007 01:12 PM

Julie is always ready and prepped Dan ;) Are you bringing your lass?

I have a load of Bradders old gash wings that I'll bring along. Can everyone running RC10's and other cars where the wing is on a wire and in tubes on the chassis make sure that they're not going to fall out! Remember how often that used to happen :(

G

super__dan 05-01-2007 01:24 PM

Good point. I actually already have a hole in the flappy bit of the bodyshell that covers the motor, which is more secure. Either that or I'll use a B2 wing wire I have and bend it to buggery to make it super secure.

G if/when you ever meet my missus you'll understand why the notion of getting her to come to a warehouse in Middlesbrough in the middle of the winter for about 8 hours, to let us race 15 year old toy cars round a track is simply laughable. As a replacement I've got Donga staying at my house sat night, wonder how easily he puts out? Very easily I'll bet!

G

ask jim how they handle if you run the overdrive kit in them graham....the wrong way around :(

Chrislong 05-01-2007 06:52 PM

Hope the car im borrowing is ready? Do I need anything for it? Who's lending it me?

The oldest car I own, is the X-5, the next oldest is the X-6.... I'll bring the X-6 ready to go ofcause.... Since we have the Doc, we can say we went back to the future for the X-6 ;)

Northy 06-01-2007 01:13 AM

Chris, you are 100% legend.

Medders 06-01-2007 10:49 PM

Many thanks to all those at York tonight who gave me valuable advice and tips for getting racing again.

Special thanks to Northy for the much needed ProCat bits and to Col for helping me to actually get there in the first place.

I look forward to racing the Cat at the next vintage event :)

Stu 07-01-2007 12:09 AM

It will be really nice to see your incomplete car up and running.

Tonight was ACE.
Qualifying was really close between G's Cat, Jim & Dan's RC10's and my JRX2. In the final Damian was up to pace, it was very close between Damian, Jim and I for third - G & Dan were faster, battling for the win.

Result.
1 - G
2 - Dan
3 - Me
4 - Jim
5 - Damian

John Price was running a Kyosho Javelin, John built the car from a box of bits that Jimmy supplied some time back, it's a proper nice thing.

Pics to follow when I can be arsed to sort them out.

xx4-nutter 07-01-2007 12:31 AM

was great to see somthing different there tonight, are these going to be run more often at york ?

Col 07-01-2007 08:33 PM

This was the 2nd race in a series of 4 that are bieng run at York. I believe that the dates are available int the "events organiser" section of the fine site!

Northy 08-01-2007 08:45 PM

Stu's done the report:

http://www.northernracer.com/vintageathon/

He's now gone to look after his wifey :)

super__dan 09-01-2007 08:49 AM

Can I just say that Julie and Carrie were brilliant and very much part of the team. I can understand now why G often has such a large smile on his face after seeing how fast Julies hands can move.

11 minute run on an 11*2 motor and 14 year old RC10 anyone??? ;)

G

Stu 09-01-2007 05:34 PM

Yeah, Julie & Carrie made it really easy for us to be organised, they were stars.

It was nice to see my XX been thrapped round, Chris was really pedalling it big-time.

Stu 09-01-2007 05:39 PM

Allthough the speedo seems to be melted & the diff is slipping. :wtf:

Northy 09-01-2007 06:39 PM

Jim'll fix it! :D

Yep, big up to Julie and Carrie!

ha ha. yeh, I did burn my hand a couple of times on the speedo... the plastic went a bit soft too... :D I drove it like I stole it.. :D

Stu 09-01-2007 07:49 PM

I was serious when I said it was good to see it being thrapped around, it's what they are made for.

Since Jim serviced the XXX (it's like new) I don't wanna mucky it up, I may run the XX more.

Chrislong 09-01-2007 08:02 PM

It was a great car to thrapp around, very capable and it took it all well and begged for more! I just wish I had skimmed the 10 for the last run.

Stu 10-01-2007 10:12 PM

JRX2 on Ebay

That's alot!

Col 10-01-2007 11:50 PM

made him an offer.

Somehow I don't think it'll be accepted;)

jimmy 10-01-2007 11:55 PM

Mine WAS like that, lol, I unsealed it to scan the manual tho and sniff the old air inside! :D Plus its got gil losi's sig on it now, must be worth 50p at least

bigred5765 10-01-2007 11:59 PM

compared to the jrx on ebay £500 WHAT???
it's prolly worthy a few money pennies than that
and gils sig gota add a quid or two

super__dan 18-01-2007 05:38 PM

Gents,

Got two presents in the last two days.

Firstly Tekin kindly donated a nice 410P speedo for true periodness. All serviced so should be nice and reliable (certainly on the 20T's).

Then I got the shell I've been waiting for and the crap picture doesn't do it justice. It's so retro and cool I can't describe it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...8012007032.jpg

As an aside, I know several of us have talked about wanting stuff from Tower who still have stuff in stock. If we form a list I'll look stuff up and get prices and we can do a joint order if you like?

Stu 18-01-2007 06:42 PM

Good idea, we'll talk about it on Sunday.

These showed up ofat'bay today, I was slightly excited about it.
Dan, show this to your lass, she'll think they are ACE.

http://www.northernracer.com/tyre.jpg
