People would buy the normal kit because it's cheaper and good enough. I've never known anyone own the factory bmax 4iii

Factory kit included option parts like alloy rear hubs, titanium turnbuckles, gold shock shafts, carbon motor brace place, etc. Stuff that get added anyway.

janisdaubergs - use inserts

It would be cool if an aftermarket shell manufacturer made a retro one to look like the 870.

Aso posted the release on fb with official picture with body on. Body off pictures cant be far away now :)

ChrisCorbett 27-09-2015 10:18 PM

Being that I'm always late to catch on I thought I'd keep the tradition and buy a bmax4 iii amidst all the yz4 hype.
£205 delivered from banzai (factory edition), well happy

roboliver 28-09-2015 12:52 AM

what is it ?yz4

yokomo says its a new drive line system that's better than belts or drive shaft ...big focus has been placed on the transmission of the YZ-4 with a new type of drive-train that offers benefits over the conventional belt and shaft drive configurations. maybe its a multi gear drive like the original dag fighter with a belt drive front ha ha or hey maybe if they can get the cable to stick in the
y can make it like the mip that was base on the super champ had one of those bad boys till some one decided that they liked it more than I did one night at the race track ....prick gutless thief's been 33 years sooo.....sure would love to see show show up someday

skyaflake 28-09-2015 07:17 AM

It's a belt.

http://yokomozone.eu/img/products/yz4-1.jpg

Right side of the chassis (seen from behind). Seems open, curious how they implemented a new drive line system. I've seen some vague shots of the car now, waiting for more official pictures, but first: the worlds!

Northy 28-09-2015 07:51 AM

Yeah, there's a belt in the photo, but it doesn't line up with the middle of the diff does it?

RobW 28-09-2015 08:02 AM

Yes, that picture is a bit of tease. If that is a belt on the side furthest away then there must be some sort of layshaft before the front gear box as it does not line up with the front diff?

Guess we will know within the next week or so. People who have seen under the bodyshell must be laughing at all our speculation.

If it wins the Worlds it will sell like hot cakes whatever the layout. As an aside, just checked the timings for Worlds and worked out I may be a bit tired at work that week if I want to watch much of it!

I doubt that one of us would be so rude...

skyaflake 28-09-2015 11:51 AM

Initially, only one version will be released. No Factory kit.

More news from Yokomo AFTER the worlds.

skyaflake 28-09-2015 03:24 PM

Return of the YZ!

Now look here Santa, I've been really good all year!

Origineelreclamebord 29-09-2015 04:38 AM

I think the YZ-4 is so quick because the front stabilizer is not mounted in its brackets

Seriously though... I hope it's a truly different design concept after making everyone so curious! :p

richm 29-09-2015 03:15 PM

Been trying to think what other drive systems they might use.

Maybe they are bringing chain drive back?

Paultje040 29-09-2015 04:46 PM

Its belt drive. Just the Yokomo-way.

Looking at the last picture, it peobably has a front and rear gearbox

Northy 30-09-2015 08:03 AM

Ohhh, like an X7 maybe?

G

skyaflake 30-09-2015 08:34 AM

Maybe.

Front end does seem to look like a reverse-mounted gearbox in the pic above. And that could explain the off-centre belt, connecting via a layshaft design. I'm just struggling to understand how that could be a benefit vs a direct belt drive system, straight to the diff gears. Time will tell...

Different stress levels on the belt. Direct-layschaft.
