@ Coleman - No I couldn't put a price on this one, it would have been extremely high so no I didn't charge enough, I enjoyed i though and judging by the comments it's being well received.
@ Badger - Cheers fella, bit different to yours, yes did take ages, actually you can't believe the hours that went into it and I won't go there as the owner was more than patient waiting for it. @ Julian - Woohoo I've made it, I'm famous... I have a stalker  |

Well I received the vectra shell today and wow!! An amazing job, so much detail.
Ian I can't Thankyou enough, it's amazing and way better than I imagined :woot: Just waiting for replica front wheels and that's job done :) Fantastic job!!!! Couldn't recommend you enough Paul |
Thanks for the review and the photo Paul, much appreciated !!!
Lookin' good :) |
'kin bright race paint
Something leery for the weekend sir ?
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps8c3126c7.jpg The brightest most retina numbing shell I've created to date. Lots of subtle slightly off shade colours that don't all show up in the photographs too, as you've come to expect from me now. |
Awesome work fella, colours work really well together, super neat as always :thumbsup::thumbsup:
|
Something a little different from me, usually I like to work with tight super neat designs but I did a couple of these and have to admit they were a lot of fun to do. Not an easy effect to get right.
This one was way back for Neo buggy this year. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps0bef1bcf.jpg |
Funky stuff mister
|
Awesome!
|
Thanks for the comments chaps :)
|
Holy Cow Ian - burnt my eyes out !
Technically, as always awesome, but i'm not a fan of such leery colours, I like subtle - traditional stuff as i'm old and boring! |
You not been surfing off Honolulu have you ?
Defo got a Howlee twist there bra |
Cheers Andy, yeah a bit bright that one, looks nicer in the flesh, will show up ace on the track ( from space !!! ).
@ Julian, :p no dude, no surfing, just random stuff that comes out of head  |
Well six months since I posted any of my own work so I thought I'd put up a few bits I've been working on recently. Sorry still not taking on new projects as trying to get through the back log still, winning but a lot in front of me still and I want my weekends back so won't be taking anything on for a while. This is purely me showing off recent work and to drag my thread out into the open again before it disappears to far down...
So something very simple for Badger5's new K1, glittery white, sparkly blue, neon red, surprisingly none of them photograph well  the car does work on track from any distance perfectly though ! http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps1817584c.jpg An Alonso Crash helmet inspired shell for Tommy, white sparkle in the light blue and the dark blue is all glittery too, again I was unable to replicate this in the photographs. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps3a9f3898.jpg I did a pair of these new Mugen MBX7's for Tinny http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps64a1093e.jpg XB9 for Blue Dakar http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...psaad88e63.jpg In the voice of Clarkson... Iron Man doesn't drive a Phat bodied Losi 22 but if he did his shell would look like this... ( for Kelk ) http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps3ec499a3.jpg And an MBX7 for Nasir, who has been in the queue forever, but he keeps changing his mind about what he's driving so keeps selling cars before I've painted them, glad to say though he's keeping this and the gushing email I received from him when he received this today was great, he absolutely loves them, so thanks for letting me have a free hand in the design dude, glad you like them ! http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps88ba6ce9.jpg More to follow soon I seem to be on a bit of roll now :lol: |
All of those shells are totally awesome Ian, can't imagine how you designed the Iron Man shell, not easy by any stretch of the imagination. The 1/8th shells look really cool, so much detail and real clean and crisp lines. And much thanks for K1 shell, can never fail to spot it on the track!!
|
Nice to see you posting Ian! Kicking out some quality looking shells as always. Even the simple designs, you manage to bring out little details in them to give them that little lift.
Also I really appreciate your pin work across the crazy shapes and angles buggy shells produce... I struggle on touring cars sometimes and there flat! Excellent work. |
I'm very pleased to say the body shell based on Fernado Allonso's helmet was exactly what I was looking for. I've had a few shells painted by Ian and every time it's the same, a good conversation with Ian whats required and then leave it to him.
The body shell picture doesn't do it justice, the sparkle in the blue and quality of finish always brings positive comments from the other racers. I would recommend Ian and his work to anybody. Thanks again Ian. Tommy  |
Big thanks to Ian for the Iron Man shell. I might get a moment to mount it up tonight as I only got it from the sorting office yesterday and it rounds off my Iron Man collection
Top work fella:thumbsup: |
What can i say? words can't describe such awesomeness.
I send Ian just over a million shells, but i keep asking for him to send them back because i keep selling and buying new cars!! Finally i found the perfect car for me, i send Ian 2 bodyshells, with minimum instructions. GERMANY,SEBASTIAN VETTEL,BRIGHT. That's it, from that he adapted it into a extremely sexy bodyshell! The Lines outside of the Flag are based on Sebastian's helmet theme along with the awesome circles (such a neat job). The circles are perfectly drawn and really STAND out. The Neo yellow/green really gives a bold glow and stands out from the rostrum. The Mugen logo is PERFECT..... perfectly drawn on. Very very hard to do!! The rear section is based of one of my old shells, and as you can see it has a "breaking" effect which looks UBER coool. This shell is MUCH much more than i asked for. Ian is a perfectionist and doesn't accept "its okay, or its good" it has to be bloody brilliant! this is why he takes a lot of time to paint shells ;) Shell was perfectly packed and arrived instantly.... Very very impressive. When i opened the box i was like and i quote from Ian's saying " a dog with 2 dicks" super excited!! :woot: This stuff is freckin LEGENDARY! i've used a LOT of painters before.... but by miles Ian's work is OUTSTANDING,and i truly mean that!! :wub This shell made me win 2 finals at Slough and get my best result at Slough with a Mugen i've never raced with before:thumbsup::thumbsup: I'm sorry guys and girls pic's don't do their justice, Looks so much nicer in flesh!! http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps8197cf4c.jpg http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps4240abeb.jpg http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps3945f198.jpg http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/a...psa7510b49.jpg |
'A dog with two dicks' I wonder where he got that saying from? Shell looks awesome Nas, very individual.
|
 dunno what to say to all that. Thanks guys, too kind... far too kind...
And thanks for baring with me while I got these done and thanks for using me. |

I stole it from Ian!!!! i wasn't informed it was your quote. But next time (Like Ian) i will try and give you some credit for it. ;)
To be fairly honest i am unsure of what it exactly means, but a dog with 2 dicks cannot be a bad thing! |

Something is clearly amiss... I've only gone and finished another one before my thread has dropped off the first page :D
Inspired by Felipe Massa's crash helmet and with 'undreds of little hex's to make up the fade, came out well, as you'll have come to expect if you know my thread "the camera has lost the colours in the fancy paint I've used"... Get on with it ian - okay then... here you are http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps022c8609.jpg |
A minor update, a little crawler shell I just finished.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps6e08999a.jpg All paint, no decals, no stickers http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps104c1832.jpg And Nasir sold his Nitro Mugen and got an electric Kyosho so I did him a new shell for that too in his German / Vettel inspired designed, some minor tweaks to the tri colour stripes to the rear, essentially the same though but with a Kyosho logo and no nitro engine or fuel tank filler holes. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps9e662598.jpg |
Very nice
Very smart neat precise cool .! I could carry on , well smart ;)
|
Always my fav thread to look through on here, fantastic stuff fella :)
|
lookin' tidy bud
|
Thanks to all you 3 for posting. It's good to get recognition from the other painters as you know how hard it is to get stuff right, I don't think any of mine are particularly complicated compared to some of the other work I see on here but the thumbs up and nice comments are always very appreciated !
|
Nice work Ian looking good, the crawler is really cool, nice fade  and amazing fans, its a good job you mention that its all paint because they look sticker quality . Big thumbs up.
|
Fantastic stuff.
It's the crispness / quality of line work that impresses me - as well as the designs :) |
Very nice Ian! Loving the fades on the crawler shell!
|
You guys are all far too kind :D not that I mind
@UPD - Yeah I love painting fans and stuff on, making sure they're not at the same angle to try and give a sense of realism and not look like a sticker. @andys - Dude, that's proper praise coming from someone of your caliber, it's nothing you couldn't do, the designs you bang out are so crisp I really like that and for you to say the same about my work :) cheers fella it's much appreciated !!! @Magoo - thanks mate, they took me ages, the shell was so deep and so small it was difficult to get it all right, looks stunning in the sun, not so much in my photographs though. |

Thanks to Ian for painting the shell of my new Cougar KF, a rush job for Ian but still very much appreciated.
I like my shells to be fairly simple and quite often in with inspiration from famous MotoGP riders past and present, this one was designed around a Kevin Schwantz helmet. |
Glad to be of help Richard, here's the photo I got of it, was a very rushed job for me, I'm sure there were some people at the track surprised to see you back with it so quick :thumbsup::lol:
Enjoyed doing it ! http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...psd78231bb.jpg |
Nice job Ian, lovely subtle bit shading.:)
