Bungleaio 08-02-2010 08:03 PM

Here's my DEX410, definitely the highest quality car I've built to date and the relatively high cost price is justified. I've ordered some spares direct from Durango UK and they turned up next day, awesome service and a lot better than the previous car I ran.

The first time I drove the car was yesterday in the 4 minutes practice at Worksop, prior to this all I had done is check the wheels went in the right direction. Despite this I had no problems and achieved my best result to date at worksop!

The only changes I've made to the car are HPI/Hot Bodies ball studs, J Concepts cups and Associated FT 50mm Turnbuckles. The front chassis post are stronger brass ones from JayST.

I'm running a Tekin RS pro and redline 6.5. Futaba 9551 servo, specktrum HRS reciever and MRT transponder.

Intresting to see some different wiring optoins. :)

Quite a few now with the speedo mounted forwards.
All look amazing though, especially the mikovic paint job.

Rebelrc 08-02-2010 09:16 PM

No ones noticed my new weights:cry:lol

coolcars782 08-02-2010 09:21 PM

I like your new weights

Mutant 08-02-2010 09:23 PM

now you mention it, through the blur, i can just make them out..

not heavy enough for you stock?

rc_penguin 08-02-2010 09:29 PM

I noticed but i knew they were there before the photo :D

Rebelrc 08-02-2010 09:30 PM

Hello Olly
As you know know from wednesday night i was running the old original durango cause it is much quicker in faversham and have realised that the weight of the old car has more weight in the cells area so i am trying this....and removing the rear weight cause i am finding it penduluming a bit

Basicly i am running more inboard weight and less outboard like the older car...coz my old one is much quicker in there
cheers..hope this made sense

Mutant 08-02-2010 09:37 PM

I think i get you, i took the two twelves off last wed, and it felt less pendula.

Was thinking possibly taking the big back one off and putting the twelves back on. I guess this is on the same lines as yourself, bringing the weight more inboard..... but will have to think twice before installing some of the slabs you have there!!

Very interested to see how you get on though...

Rebelrc 08-02-2010 09:41 PM

Ok i will beat you again wed then :thumbsup:lol

Trust me the corner weights are the same as the original now
pm me if you want some

Mutant 08-02-2010 09:52 PM

On new rubber, and trying to get to grips with a GM esc..... You are going to do some whooping for some time......

once i get a little more settled, maybe i could give a set of your weights a try... interesting experiment!

Rebelrc 08-02-2010 09:57 PM

Seriously though i will try them on wed and see how it goes......i am gettin a pred as well so if they work you can try them...they fit with no fixing or tape .just a perfect fit

oh and i might not be whooping any ass as my old durango is back on its shelf retired:(

Takes2home 11-02-2010 04:50 PM

Heres mine with new rear body mount and copper weights (photo quality is still bad , forgive me):)

Bungleaio 11-02-2010 08:15 PM

Looks good mate, is the body post in a different place to the standard one?

Rebelrc 11-02-2010 08:30 PM

Hello Bungleaio (isnt that a gypsy kings song?):)
No i made a new post (including the rear antispin locating groovey thing....durango owners know what i am on about!) from delrin so it looks like a kit item.....but it is further in to the body . i have seen a few durango's with the rear body mount hole ripped off because its very close to the edge of the shell....and i hate painting new shells for nothing so i made this straight away before the shell was run.:bored:
you see you cannot just space the mount in further because the shell dips lower straight after the mount so it would raise the body ( look rubbish)so mine sorts this and is very ergonomic:woot:
if you want one pm me
cheers Scott

PS . takes2home your body looks like its made of wood....cool though ....what colour is that!

Looks good Scott, but who makes those centre drive shafts?

Rebelrc 11-02-2010 09:09 PM

The centre shafts are the durango option ali ones (light cause i race mostly stock) they are realy nice and also as most durango parts, very cheap:)
mine look production but i have done the rear pin mod ( i think much better than team durango ) by double grub screwing the pin in, then taking a new diff plastic outdrive tube that the gator goes on, and cut the flanged end off then pushed it over the shaft and pin and its a perfect firm fit, then i used the small rear gator off the hub carrier end to cover the tube.
and it looks the same as all the rest of the shafts on the car with no chance of loseing the pin....i did this front and rear:thumbsup:
the tubes come on a sprew with the f & r diff casings+ the hooped diff casing holders all for £3.90 very cheap and the gators were very cheap also
hope this makes sense and helps

and remember where you saw these tips first;)

it is a mixture of gold black and orange ( 3 different spray can)with a spunge i molded the color, then i sand down the outside of the body to eliminate the shiny.
I like your body post and the personal weight.. The body it remindes me "ceramic" cool especially the front window frame......i like it.

bedsrcmcc 14-02-2010 07:00 PM

Not sure if I saw it on oOple or not but I read somewhere that some was producing a slightly larger bodyshell for the Durango. I've managed to just get everything inside the chassis but can't fit the body shell on. It's very tight but my electrics I guess are not as small as others. I've installed:

Losi Xcelorin Speedo, Futaba 2.4GHz Rx and Reedy Saddle Pack LiPo.

Does anyone know of that company who do the bigger shell?

Thanks.

Thanks for that, looks good. I like the aero tweaks used on the undertray, nice touch. Seems to have much more space at the front so should fit no problem. Also like the felcro along the side edges which should help keep the larger particles out of the chassis.

Thanks for the link

Do you know who will be distributing it for the UK so I can get my local model shop to stock it?

Alex H 14-02-2010 07:28 PM

I am from Sweden so I can buy it from their ebay store but I think you guys have another option like this: http://www.dms-racing.com/

I think the undertray is its best feature;). Then the looks and space.

Just found the site, I've ordered from RC Mart before so I'll keep an eye out for when they are available.

What do you think about East Coast Bodies version with the front wing? Bodyshell looks no different but does that front wing really work? Is it legal?
