Lmao :D

Stu 04-12-2006 09:37 PM

We are going to have to reschedule the 4th meeting as the current date clashes with the indoor finals. I have suggested March 3rd, Tom will confirm this after speaking to Phil.
Watch this space.

Northy 04-12-2006 10:19 PM

Vintage at indoor finals?

G

super__dan 08-12-2006 12:10 PM

Well the guy I'm getting my car from is back home and sent me some pics, looks fapping ace, unfortunatly I'm away with work next week so won't get it till next weekend so no racing of it until next year. And when I do G, you should be VERY scared! It's a Procat beater for sure.

MattK 12-12-2006 11:58 AM

I am well impressed to see people rolling out the old school racing stuff. Am just a bit dissapointed my TRX TCP is too young for the class being a 1993 chassis. O hum. I will continue to race it at Bury for now.:)

ulrich 13-12-2006 08:40 PM

Vintage cars

If some of you is going to the DHI-CUP race in Denmark in January, please take your lovely vintage cars with you, because we will make a small stand for these cars (there will be no racing with these cars)

If you have any questions please send me a PM

super__dan 20-12-2006 09:30 PM

Well after getting my nice car through * and rebuilding it together with the best bits of the other one I now have 1 built mint car. It's sad but I'm so pleased with it, it being a car I always wanted as a kid but never had.

The whole car is virtually like new (now), especially the whole transmission which I reckon could take some low turn motors, the shocks are mint though am struggling to get all the air out. I might have over specced the servo with a KO 2123 but it should be well quick and reliable with a 12*3 (thanks Jim) for the endurance.

Spec is near as damn it worlds car inc carbon towers, mint stealth etc, ballraced MIP steering, pukka period Lunsford turnbuckles, RPM bll ends, viper shell but have genuine AE sprayed shell on way from states :)

* Please note thanks to Dan Rowlands who supplied me with the nice car for a very reasonable price and was very helpfull. Part of the deal was that I'd get Jimmy to take some action shots, hope that's not a problem Jim ;)

super__dan 21-12-2006 08:21 AM

Can anyone that ran at the vintage night with a stealth tranny in (Damo, Jim) give me a starting ratio for an 81t spur? After how far out I was last time I don't want to give my partially fried motor a harder time than I need to!

jimarea51 21-12-2006 09:37 AM

Nice ride Dan:)

The internal ratio for the early steath box is- 2.25:1

Therefore use the following to obtain the correct gearing-

Spur 81
Divided by
Pinion ?? (20)
Multiply by 2.25
=9.11:1

That won't be far away for a 12x3 ish

Later

Jim

super__dan 21-12-2006 12:43 PM

Skills Jim, can I get that arm at the vintage night at York before the endurance so I can build up the motor?

My post above I had actually meant to ask what pinion/ratio to run with the 20t stinger on the stealth box?

Also what's the crack with the wishbones. I was led to believe by someone that the black ones were the later ones? So have put them on the nice car. I do notice that my black rears have less material forward of the inner hinge pin that the white rear ones I have, the white ones need a hinge pin about 6mm longer to fit accordingly.

Forgot to mention, the weak link in the chain on both cars I have is driveshafts. I have UJ's on both and the ones on the nice car are a lot better than on the dog, but they are still far from great. Anyone see any CVD sets on ebay please let me know!

Northy 21-12-2006 06:33 PM

The black arms are the latter ones and are correct on your car Danneth. You are also correct that they are sharter on the inner end. No idea why.

Is your car Pre 1990 Dan? I don't think it is...........

G

Stu 21-12-2006 09:10 PM

G, don't start all that up again, you bum-weasle.
It-be-reet.

Is yours G?

super__dan 22-12-2006 09:51 AM

G, you're clearly jealous that though you might have 50 vintage cars, I only have 1 but it's cooler than any of yours ;) :D

It defo meets the rules, I checked in advance. Got to do something to try and haul in the procat, oon proper gearing I can't see how anything can catch it!

Tom, you doing the edurance with us, we need to firm up a team, do we need to book in in advance as well?

super__dan 22-12-2006 01:15 PM

OK last gratuitous shot as am aware I'm getting very boring now. She's all finished and ready to rock, Is next vintage 2 weeks tomorrow?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...n/IMG_0478.jpg

WHITTLER555 22-12-2006 04:09 PM

Nice motor Dan!

We need to get the team sorted and off to Stewart Craig.

You will get away with running a 10x3, I did up at Teeside!

I am guessing the historic team will be:

Damian
Dan
Stu
Graham
Jim
Tom??

Apologies if have forgotten anyone!

super__dan 22-12-2006 05:39 PM

Donga was on about running your old jrx wasn't he? I think Tom is going to Worksop but don't quote me on that. Either way we'll have enough, just be busy. G will Julie be team manager and look after transponder pit stops????

Whilst I think the stealth will take more than a 12, I think it will be a decent trade off at Teesdale. Should it need it, I do have a checkpoint that could go in :eh?:

Northy 22-12-2006 08:59 PM

Julie will do it do worries, but you best be ready! :wtf:

Is Tom racing? What about Jimmy?

Everyone best have bullitproof cars, we have a good chance to embarase the other teams!

Next vintage race is 6th Jan - the day before the endurance at Teeside. Good luck boys, I'll be off to worksop for the sunday meet, but I'll be at York on the Sat

Stu 23-12-2006 11:07 AM

Does anyone know the format for the edurance, is it 3 x 2 hour or 2 x 3 hour or 1 x 6 hour?

As for the proper vintage series I have yet to get an official OK on the date change of the last meeting form the date of the indoor-finals.

I suspect it wil be March 3rd but need to get this confirmed by Phil.

super__dan 23-12-2006 11:30 AM

I thought it was a straight 6 hours, it seems straight forward enough as each member should just do say 7 minute stints, however you have to bargain in for breakages, and if you have 2, quickly in a row you might find yourself on really quickly after you finished the previous run.

I REALLY enjoyed it last year, even more than I thought I would. Team vintage do stand a good chance as well, though some of those fast 4wd brushless chaps might gang up on us.

Thanks to Julie, having someone sort everyone out really helps as that's why we won last year, Mike Cockerill was ace! Will she be dealing with entering our team? ;)

WHITTLER555 23-12-2006 03:59 PM

I guess myself, Stu, G and Jim can bring Losi XX's just as backup, Still VINTAGEISH!;)

Yeah need to know who's booking us in? STU??

My Xtals are 985, 965 and 845.

Anyone volunteering??

Stu 23-12-2006 04:35 PM

Yep, I'll sort booking in.

Details please people...........

BTW, I will have the XX ready to go, mightn not be properly vintage buy, I think retro will be good enough.

super__dan 23-12-2006 05:08 PM

Mine are 675, 875 and 975.

Tom isn't running Vintage but is forming a team of his own! Actually it's not as bad as it seems, he wants setup time with both cars ahead of that Frogs Leg race he's going to, which I think is understanable.

Is anyone volunteering a car for Donga? Else it's just the 5 of us which might be pushing it. Obviously I would myself but my 2nd RC10 isn't a runner since I robbed parts off it.

Northy 23-12-2006 05:41 PM

Julie says she'll be captain.
We need more people. I can probably get a car running for someone.
Is Jimmy racing?
Tom, I can't believe your letting us down :(

G

Northy 23-12-2006 05:47 PM

I'll throw some names in for people for the Team......

Bradders, Donga, Ben, Gay Lowe, Collinson, Verminator......?

Anyone want to race with us guys?

G

dave g 23-12-2006 06:00 PM

can i run the 1/8th if i put me brushless in ????

i have a brushless system but nowt else really..

dave

WHITTLER555 23-12-2006 06:50 PM

I can bring the Losi JRX2 but not sure how long it will last???

My Losi XX will be available, just need a Futaba radio, or we could share mine as long as we keep it charged!!

dave g 23-12-2006 07:08 PM

i got a spekky that i use in my 1/8th...i dont have batteries etc..nothing that i can use in 1/10th anyways..well i do have some 2400's from my starter box :)

dave

super__dan 24-12-2006 01:04 PM

To be honest Graham if we have 6 that's ok, 7 is ideal. We won last year with 6. Much more than that and you start cutting down on your traclk/fun time, I don't think we need more than 7 anyway.

Donga is keen, just needs a car! Maybe he can brorrow one of the T cars (xx's ;) ).

Dan

Northy 03-01-2007 10:55 PM

So is everybody ready for Saturday night and Sunday?

G

super__dan 04-01-2007 08:20 AM

I am virtually, car is, and one half worn set of tyres. Am acetoning off some others to make sure I have some back ups for the Sunday. Also need to convert my cells to stick not saddles for the weekend but all easy stuff for tonight.

Am well looking forward to this weekend, maybe even more so than normal racing ;)

Everyone else ready, has Chris arragned with anyone specific for a car for Sunday? I know he's coming sat night to York so we could sort it out then worst case.

Really going to try to to destroy my motor this week!

Oscar 04-01-2007 09:43 AM

super__dan 04-01-2007 12:23 PM
