That was me by the triple yes.

I've seriously been to Nationals this year in TC's and not marshalled a single car all day. Then I pick the triple to marshal by on Sunday and that was a seasons worth of marshalling in one meeting!! :p

telboy 30-10-2007 01:15 AM

well it'll keep you fit mr twigger.:D

G, ever thought of taking up skate boarding? with all those grinds.:p

I'll speak to muzzy, and see about practice. maybe start practice at say 8:00 and have someone stood timing 5 min slots with no more than 10 drivers on the rostrum?
And, like said, a peg board.

Cockerill 30-10-2007 03:16 AM

I wouldn't mind timing most of practice at the next meeting. It will help people, cos with Lipo, brushless and 2.4 people can be up there for 10/15 mins.

If there are a few helping, taking over, then it'll be a doddle, so I'll help you with that too Tom if Muzzy accepts the idea...

Does anybody have any pics of my car from the weekend that i would be allowed to use for a report that im sending back to Horizon Hobby. Obviously i would give who ever took them all the credit. Its just the report looks a bit daft without a pic or two.

Many Thanks

Danny

ill find on for u may be later tonight,

muzzy 31-10-2007 10:04 PM

Hi everyone, many thanks for all your kind comments about the racing sunday, much appreciated, now regarding marshalling we have already sorted numbers to put on seats for marshall positions and the marshalls wont be able to leave their point until they are relieved or instructed to by race control, so that should make life easier.
Also regarding timing practice if Tom and Chris or anyone else are prepared to help out with that then I'm more than happy for that to happen, did look up at 1 point as some of you may remember and saw a few more than 10 practicing so had to make the announcement for only 10 on the rostrum :o Do you think we should give everybody a practice ticket so you only get the 1 practice if you hand in your ticket?
As most of you probably saw on sunday we are a little short on numbers to help with the running of practice etc while we are trying to do the booking in and sorting heats, so if people are willing to lend a hand then please shout up as all help is very much appreciated.
Thanks to everyone that entered, numbers were good and some top drivers attending once again which is really good, looks like we are starting to make steady steps forward with the club, especially as you heard on sunday when I made the announcement of us holding the Indoor Regional Finals next year, so many thanks for all your support guys, lets keep improving things where we can, and if you see somewhere that we can improve please speak up so we can try and do something about it, as we are there for you guys to have a competitive but enjoyable days racing so that you have a good time and talk about it on the way home :D
Also must say a MASSIVE thanks to Danny, Chris, Tom, James and Terry for helping with the set up sat night and designing an AWESOME track, lets hope next track is even better ;)
Mark

Thanks mark, I don't think we need tickets, just as long as we've got someone stood there counting 10 people on the rostrum for 5min intervals...or less. Do you need 5 min to practice?

But i think we need to get leon or someone to knock a peg board together for those that haven't caught onto spektrum yet. lol

Chrislong 31-10-2007 10:21 PM

In all honesty, I don't think it is worth doing a ticketed practice.

Some people need to go up for 2 minutes, step down to straighten the servo/set the speedcontrol/adjust car setup, then que up again. Practice is a good time to do this. but then there is no harm in people having several of them if they want..... although on the other hand, if some people are struggling to practice - it may be an idea to give tickets and then priority is given to those with tickets, those without to make up the numbers on the rostrum? I dunno... im confused now :S

So long as we can take crystals off people, and limit it to 10 (or perhaps 12 if the rostrom holds it?) and time it to 3 or 4 minutes, then it'll work fine.

We don't even need a peg board, just plenty of paper and a pen, as we can write the crystals down for the next practice while a session is running - easy - call time and then quick change.

Chris

Slimboyfat 31-10-2007 10:22 PM

you and the club and helpers did a great job Muzzy.

Definatly echo the comments about getting practice more organised. In a 2wd you could go pretty much 10mins poss more if you wanted too. It used to done with raffle tickets a few years back in the off road series there and seemed to work although there may be a big backlog of drivers wanting to practice but as chris and terry say if someone can be there to time it then it would be fine. I think you also only got one practice with your ticket anyway!

I would defo be up for the next one if i can make it and im sure with the indoor finals announced there it will continue to get better!

jimmy 31-10-2007 10:35 PM

I didn't really go with the intention of getting any photos, and to be honest I don't like taking photos in such dark conditions. But a couple of people asked so I put some photos up - not many and nothing special! forgive me! :)

Thanks for posting those pics Jimmy, I like the one showing the whole track layout just shows how awesome the track was from that view :D
Cheers

telboy 31-10-2007 11:23 PM

ooh, one more thing muzzy (or who ever needs to know)
We need more space where the loop goes to the other side of track. Cos if you came out wide off the angled tabletop you could trigger the loop and get a mega fast lap. at one point I had a faster lap time than Mr stafford :o.

just thought I'd put it on here if I forgot to say later on.

I'm up for some more track building next month if thats ok?

bondy 01-11-2007 09:27 PM

Cool Meeting ! Agree with all the other points made !

Just one more . I would like to see us start were we used to in the old days near the side door. Basically a run down the straight and a lap. I know this will mean the first lap round will not count and your time only starts when you go past race control. but it will give people a chance to settle down and wont impede anyone when someone gets it wrong on the first corner. We also used to have two lines at the start . And your pit person basicall put your car on the first line if you are off in the first 5 and on the back for the last 5. I had a run wasted due to someone setting off last sat infront off me when i tried to start !!!!

Oh and the second thing :D A tape line on the rostrum about a foot back so we all get a better view.

super__dan 01-11-2007 09:45 PM

Good points on the rostrum and the twin strips, but doing nearly a lap before you're counted sounds weird to me. If you bin it on the first lap, surely that's tough?

bondy 02-11-2007 09:31 AM

Why

Why tough ? --- you havent started yet !!!! just means a few get past you then when you cross the line you start and everyone is already flowing.. Having done rallycross and trugs for the last 3 years were its a rolling start with 2 min warm up I found it hard to get on the pace straight away with the elecys. Plus im getting old now and my thumbs need to warm up a bit !!! :D

Robfo 02-11-2007 09:34 AM

Just do a warm up lap old man!

Chrislong 02-11-2007 10:15 AM

I can see the point in Steve's idea, but the issue I see is that because the 5 minutes start for each car as they pass the loop for lap 1, that it takes say 20 seconds per car to make that pass - and so the last lap after the 5 minutes beep, cars will be passing the loop for a further 20 seconds before they get the finished beep....

Therefore having to extend the race end time to cope, and therefore each race could potentially be as long as 6 minutes in reality - which would make for a longer day.

What could be done, is a start line, diagonal to the track perhaps 1/4 of a lap back from the loop. This would mean all 10 cars are in 1 line, and you get a few corners to get into a rythem before passing the loop to start?

Chris

I can see why, if the start line is a whole lap away from the loop then its a long time to start - the a mistake may make it 25-30 seconds til the start, which could make it so that car doesn't actually finish the race, it'll time out before it makes its last lap.

MattW 02-11-2007 10:52 AM

Just start where we used to - and have 2 loops - like we used to!!!
