Dont go in reverse its a competition car for racing not for being nobbed about with in reverse around the street. The way the tensioner works means it only works correctly in one direction and that is forwards.
And please stop PMing me asking how to mesh your motor, telling me how good your xxx-4 is, and how i should buy it for £110.
Why not go and buy a HPI Savage (Or RC8T its the same) and go bashing instead of trying to get race cars to be bash proof ??

You might need to ask the cars original owner that question DanB4, as i'm sure after reading hundreds upon hundreds of posts by stampede vxlboy that he wouldn't know the difference between a one way and standard diff.

Also stampede vxlboy the xxx4 is an ok car i have been racing mine since i started in this hobby in march of this year, i have spent many a sunday afternoon talking to many of the more experienced drivers at my local club for tips on setup and driving.

This is the first car i have run since 1980ish and is so easy to work on it is untrue, the pinion and gear mesh is so simple it's just a case of moving the motor plate round so the two gears meet but not touch.

there should be a small amount of backlash (small gap with movement between teeth).

Go to race meet and have fun.

You might be right, i have spent the last few hours this evening and few hours last night going through the help stampy threads.

Stampy if you put as much effort into learning about your car as you do about asking questions about it, you would have a lot more self satisfaction when you put it on the track and race it.

I dont want to appear nasty but you do seem to ask the same questions over and over again. I learnt more about my xxx4 by downloading the manual from the losi website and then ripping the car down to tiny bits then building it back up again.

remember this is a fun hobby it should not be stressfull!!!

am i correct in saying the xxx4 is a single belt car?? i remember on the old pb single belt cars if you tried to use reverse the belt slipped due to the position of the belt tensioner being designed to work properly for power transmitted in the forward direction only. if its slipping going forward at all, tighten the belt a little, only a fraction at a time though. you will just have to put up with belt slipping in reverse, no race cars are designed for reverse as its not normally permitted at race meetings

stampede vxlboy 13-11-2009 11:16 PM

there 3 belts i think but thanks for helping me out mate

Jimmi.............

I never ran it in reverse, fwd/brake only with no issues - the car was one of the smoothest belt drive cars I've ever owned.

It has 2 diffs and no one-way anywhere in it's drivetrain.

1 belt stampy, that's one single drivebelt, not sure where you are seeing 3......

ben 13-11-2009 11:20 PM

It has one belt stampy kit standard. Now it's been used in anger in reverse it is likely to have 3 belts. :eh?:

Only 1 belt in the xxx4 (3 in the xx4)

also make sure you are using the yellow hi-tension belt will last much longer than the old green ones

It has the green one fitted - if it isn't snapped into 3 pieces now....

perhaps it might help if it has, as it would mean some time would have to be put into working on the car and getting to learn how it goes together.

always a good thing to know how to fix them, coz 15mins between races goes really quick when you have to replace a belt.
