I may well have to try schuey balls (eek sounds ghey)
Cant find them anywhere :(

DCM 09-06-2009 09:13 PM

I would think that they are an imperial size, but being a European brand, they are a metric measurement, think 3/32 would fit, which is 2.38mm

The stock madrat looks a good piece of kit. You would only need some bearings for it and half decent shocks. For the money a great starter kit for somebody entering the sport. Are the bearings metric or imperial?

Perhaps Ansmann could sponsor its own championship in the future using there own models? Tamiya used to do this around the Cambridgeshire border areas in the late 80's (I am that old!). It was organised by the late Orton Models in Peterborough.

I think the bearings must have been withdrawn from the kit at the last minute (to keep price low)
in my build manual it says i should have them but they are brass
the sizes are:

5x8x2.5 2 of
10x15x4 2 of
5x10x4 12 of

The steering is ballraced though

DCM 09-06-2009 09:40 PM

A Question for jamie (Ansmann)
When will there be a ballraced upgrade for the madrat?

JJ The Boat Wizzard 10-06-2009 01:41 PM

Most shops stock cheap 'good' bearings anyway for like a quid 'ish' each so just do that insted of waiting for a upgrade set :D

...or somewhere like http://www.rcbearings.co.uk/, they are even listing kits for Ansmann cars as well

You could also buy the x-pro bearing set as an upgrade for the mad rat.

Or option 2 is just buy some bearings from your local model shop.

Sizes needed are:

5x8x2.5mm
10x15x4mm
5x10x4mm
3x6x2.5mm

Jamie....

I'm thinking or getting a mad rat as at the price they seem great value!

Can someone that's got one please measure the extended length of the shock absorbers? I ask as Ansmann do alloy shocks for around £9.50 a pair that come in 55, 75, 85 and 95mm lengths.

Ta!
