That is very close to how I run my car on a similar tight carpet track.

A couple of changes, pretty much what E says.

green front spring middle hole on wishbone,
pink rear spring, outer hole on xxxcr rear wishbone
diff in the front
front and rear anti roll bar

I'm not a fan of E's soft front springs, I find that the front end seems to wash out as the front drops all the way to the deck in fast corners. Maybe it's just that E and Tom are better at crisis management than I am, but red springs front springs are not for me.

Have any of you guys who have run there x5's on th RHR track sussed out any sort of starting set up ?

matdodd 10-06-2009 11:15 PM

Id say go for the setup E has posted above.
Thats close to Toms base setup so should give you a good starting point!

rcracer 11-06-2009 12:11 AM

Ok thanks Mat

I've had a couple of runs there after work days, and I've been running a setup very similar to what E posted, just with the std steering (I plan on trying the E-Speed one again this weekend), std height front link and 40wt oil in the front.

This is what I'll start with at the regional.

Grelland, the dirt-track set-up is far different from the U.K grass-astro set-up. Different springs, oil & pistons, camber links, even the amount of weight we are running. Check http://www.2wdrc.com/tech/SetupSheets.htm for at least 5 set-ups from 2009 from Kinwald, Griffin, Sinclair, Sava, and Galan.

The first four are all U.S. dirt track set-ups, I think Eduardo's is for dirt with astro on the jumps.

A few weeks back, I had some questions on my X6-setup, and as I reported back, the car behaved very well after the suggested changes.

Now, last week, we ran a club race again, and the dirt surface is very hard, with som loose gravel/dust on top, and with the next race coming up this Thursday, and no rain on the weather forecast, I expect the conditions to be very similar.

My problem last week, was that the rear grip is really good (using ProLine Bow-ties), and the car feels very planted and stable, but in the tight corners, I understeer quite a bit. I am using the stock rear wing with almost no guerney, and a ProLine front "wing".

What would be the best option in order to improve the steering particularily INTO the corner, so that I dont have to use my brakes to get around the tightest ones? Softer front springs? (I run Losi orange at the moment)

what rough gearing point should i be looking at for an x6 4gear running on short grass using minispikes 10x2 checkpoint motor and a spur of 81 teeth?

Just be careful using an 81t spur, as it will be very close to touching the diff output. You'd be safer opting for a 78t. :)

All New Sheets

As Paul posted on another thread, the all new X Factory set-up sheets are now on the new website. On the front page, click on the car you want, then the Tech button.

The dialed new sheets are in full color and we are putting them in the Kits in full color. Expensive, but worth it!

There are blank sheets for you to download + the new "standard" set-ups.

After a ton of work by the whole Team, we have come up with one set-up for the X - 60 and two for the X - 6 Sq, grass/astro and everyplace else. These are the standard Kit set-ups now, and the Boyz say if you've got this on your car exactly and entirely and the car's not working, it's probably tires.

Check 'em out at the new site, www.xfactoryrc.com

The new setup-sheets are great: modern looking, clear layout and the pictures make it easier to handle as pictures say more than words.

10/10 for the new sheet:thumbsup:

Thanks for the props! They took a bit of work to put together, but I'm really happy with how they came out :D.

I'm working on a editable-and-saveable-version, but it's a long ways from being done at this point.

Arn0 11-08-2009 10:29 AM

The new setup sheet are reeaaally nice but I saw room for some improvements! I submit everything to Chazz with some details (why the upgrade was made basically). Here is the modified setup sheet I made.

Hope that can help, both racers and X-Factory!

Body Paint 11-08-2009 10:37 AM

Those new setup sheets really are the BOMB! Good job guys!!

Do people run the 4 deg toe in bar on the rear of the X-6 sq all the time or does the 3 deg one come in handy and under what surcome stances ?
Also has anybody tried 3 deg toe in block with 1 deg at the hub ?

Lee 27-08-2009 06:49 AM

4 is used everywhere, the only time i use a 3 is if i have broken a 4 and dont have a spare, i haven't broken one in well over a year though

bigred5765 27-08-2009 10:29 AM

that'll be the kiss of death now lee, make sure you have a spare 4 deg for blyth :) lmao

super__dan 27-08-2009 10:37 AM

UK wise I would agree though was convinced that at Belgium (very high grip/drive) this year 3 deg was the future as there was so much drive 4 deg worsened power on understeer.

Al3xis007 27-08-2009 01:05 PM

i used to run the xfactory 4 deg (plastic), switched to the vampire 4deg and its feels so much nicer.
expensive but worth it

That sounds way undergeared ?? I run 23/78 on a 7.5.

discostu 27-08-2009 09:38 PM

no its not you dont race at forcc

jono83 27-08-2009 10:01 PM

Lol ok will take your word for it.

rc_penguin 27-08-2009 10:10 PM

Hey gaz,

When Will G ran my x6 we used it on a 26 on his xcelorin motor and that wasnt far from perfect, i only ran my cr2 on a 20 tooth due to the extra idler and smaller 74 tooth spur and that was easily quicker down the straight than most of the 4wd :D

Arn0 12-09-2009 12:35 PM

Hi Gentlemen,

Just to ket you know some change about what I do as their is some change to do on your bookmarks. Please refer to this message

Hope that help!

niggs98 12-09-2009 12:50 PM

Ben Turner 22-10-2009 02:21 PM

Has anyone got some compressed/extended lengths for the shocks on an X5? I can find them for the X6 but not the X5. Just trying to see if i can make up some shocks out of Associated bits I have or wether its easier to get hold of some Losi ones, but i would rather try to get the some suitable Associated ones if possible.

Cheers once again!

Here's mine from the national there the other week.

Pretty much the same as Dan's.

E.

Cooper 08-06-2010 11:31 AM

Thanks guys,
Dan, is it correct that you don't have extra weight under the lipo?
what lipo's do you use and how heavy are they?

(I have orion 3600 and TP 4900 to use if my hongkong shizzle hasn't arrived this week)

Ellis, you don't limit your rear shocks and Dan does 3mm why is that big difference, your heavyer car?

+on your setup it states 'rear tire: mini pin' must be spike if it's a national setup I guess.

other stuff is pretty similar :)
(I'm trying to be well prepared, 'cause coming with Elvo and Flipside encourages me to do so ;) )
