Hey Ludo, if you wanna come and race, you're welcome to stay at mine:thumbsup:

SimonW 15-06-2010 08:17 PM

Fabs, What's the likelyhood of getting my car this week? I have a regional this weekend and will have to re-build my car if i haven't got it.

Fabs 15-06-2010 08:19 PM

I will try to have them shipped tomorrow as I finish early-ish.

paulc 15-06-2010 08:42 PM

Hi Guys

On the shell i have not cut to the lines around the bottom i have cut as low as possible so it sits higher and it gives abit more clearance for the spur gear ;)

Afew stickers and it's ready to go first outing this weekend at Bury Regional

Fabs, pm send :) :)

about that Race at Suzy-en-Brie: Fans told it is a huge event, from friday till sunday ... but someone else said that i could participate on sunday.

What will be there on friday and saturday then? Other categories then 2WD perhaps?

Fabs, don't ship my kit. It gives me an extra reason to come over :)
Will be a 3 hour trip though. :( ... on the highway (which is boring for a motorbiker ;) )

Neil Skull 16-06-2010 01:18 PM

Hey Lowie,

Dont get confused.

The masters is a huge international event for 1/8th Nitro buggies truggies and EP 1/8th.

Fabs is attending a 1/10th race at a different track.

Fabs 16-06-2010 01:30 PM

Yep Neil is spot on, I'm racing at a regional on a small astro track on sunday, and practicing on saturday. It would be a good shake up for you on the car for sure, but it has nothing to do with the Kyosho Masters, which I have no interest in :p

gps3300 16-06-2010 04:32 PM

Paul,

What's with the spur gear - looks like you've fitted a larger one? Does the Zen shell fit OK with the standard RB5 spur?

Cheers,

Ian

paulc 16-06-2010 04:50 PM

Hi

The spur gear is an RW Racing 78t for the associated b4 thats what i've been using on my standard rb5 it is a direct fit no modifing just need associated slipper pads and it's cheaper than getting kyosho spur and slipper pads :)

The shell fits ok theres is abit of a gap like what you get on the standard rb5 shell and chassis and like i said i've cut mine below the cut line just to give abit more clearance

Hey fabs!!

I was looking forward to meeting you not for you to come and enjoy some proper racing with real cars:p

Good luck with the race:lol:

Fabs 16-06-2010 04:54 PM

Lol, I know I was winding you up...

Looks like Ludo's coming on saturday, I'll text jean on saturday when we leave the track, we might yet pop for a quick chat.

Lowie 16-06-2010 04:59 PM

I contacted Gayo about the race allready ...
Problem is it is not sure if I can compeed in a French race, as I do not have a French licence.
I do have an official Belgian (Rookie) Licence though, with which I drive in the Dutch-Belgian Nationals.
We'll see.

SimonW 18-06-2010 03:42 PM

Fab's , Where is my conv' kit it's been over a week now, I wanted to race it at my Regional this weekend? Not happy!

Lowie 18-06-2010 04:24 PM

 AFAIK Fabs was only able to send the kits this week.
He was in the Uk for the oOple-race and to pick up the parts, then returned to France .... and has to work, and thus does not find it easy to find a moment free to go to a post-office (as post-office-houres = work-houres).

I don't think you 'll have that kit within the next two days.
I will :p ... because i'll be picking it up myself, somewhere in France ;)

Hi! The Mid Custom Special contains the shock towers on CF and Aluminum rear suspension holder... UMW51X?? What is the cost?

Fabs 19-06-2010 09:57 AM

@ SimonW and MAttB:

I understand you want your cars now, bear with me they'll all be in the post monday morning. It's been crazy in the UK and I couldn't get the cars shipped when I was there for the very good reason that when I went to pick the cars up, I realised the T-Plates only had 2 holes countersink instead of all of them. So I countersank 5 myself in order to be able to run 2 cars at the oOple race and to give their cars to the people who'd be there, but then the 25 others I had to pick them up saturday evening.

Then I drove back to Paris and it's been nuts here I've not even had time to buy some food to put in the fridge! Things will settle now and I'm on a late shift monday, so will ship in the morning.

FYI your money's still on my paypal not had a second to do owt with it...

@ Trioxer : looks good ! I've put my setup from the oOple race down and will have it put online hopefully during the week.

@ PositivoNegativo : I'm not sure what you're talking about ? The MCS comes with a c/f rear shock tower and rear suspension holders which are specific to the car, not Kyosho parts.

ruf 19-06-2010 08:17 PM

Has anyone experimented with different battery configs like the "narrow saddle" (new X6 chassis) or inline (Cougar SV)?

Lowie 19-06-2010 11:26 PM

I met Fabs today at Maison-Alfort (actually typing this from his appartment :woot: ) and received the kit.
I started to disassemble my RB5 and build my preciousss MCS.

As Fabs stated higher, I encountered several flaws in the production of the parts: example: holes that on the plan had to be drilled 3,2 mm diameter ... but still have to be drilled out a bit to be able to fit some 3mm-screws through ...
these are clearly production-errors and they all have to be corrected by Fabs by hand, before he can send the kits.

Some electronic-problems made it impossible for me to finish the car on time (read: before the rain fell) to do some test-runs, so that will be first thing tomorrow.
HOWEVER .... I did take PLENTY of pics so I plan on making a kind of build-manual within the next days.

Also seen today: a good french driver, given the MCS, did some testruns with the car but VERY sceptical at first ...
His first reaction after 4 laps: "That's a VEEERY good car! I'll defenitly race that car tomorrow" :)
Big Grin on Fabs face (= didn't I told you so? ;)) LOL

Problem is I don't have an excuse for bad performance tomorrow

You won't need any excuses  good luck

Lowie 20-06-2010 08:15 PM

back home after a loooong driving-stint.
In short: the car is GREAT.
Other drivers were complaing about the difficult track .... to my amazement. I found the track fun and not hard at all.

I must admit that I drove in the French 10.5-class (which we don't have in Belgium and neither in the UK AFAIK). We were only 10 drivers in this class but I was able to give the TQ-guy some difficult times. I Q'd 2e and finished 2e also.

The car REALLY makes the driving easier.

I'll post pictures later on, too tired now.

Lowie 20-06-2010 10:08 PM

some pictures of the build of the CMS (sorry for the mediocre quality)

I'll try to make a build-report with them, one of the next days.

njc11 21-06-2010 09:37 AM

Ran mine yesterday for the first time..

Have to say very impressed.. very easy to drive, so nice and consistent.

Nice one Fabs!

I was running on a grass track, in hot weather so by the end of the meet it was getting badley worn... grip was down but the car was spot on.. Qual B6 finished B4 (mid west regional)

I will post pics of mine asap..

Cheers

Nick

Hulk 21-06-2010 11:39 AM

Just thought id post the set up me and Fabs used at the oOple invernational. This is what i will be using as my base set up for most tracks.

Front:

shocks: 40wt with 2b pistons, lime springs, middle hole on shock tower, outer hole on wishbone.

Camber link positions: outer hole on bulkhead, outer hole on hub, 4mm washer under the ball stud on the bulkhead.

Caster block: 30 degree

30g of weight on top of the servo.

Rear:

Shocks: 30wt with 2c pistons, purple springs, 2nd hole from the outer on shock tower, middle hole on wishbone.

camber link positions: outer hole on shock tower, middle hole on hub carrier, 3mm washer under ball stud on shock tower.

rear toe: 4 degree

anti - squat: 2 degree.

roll bar - none

Hope this helps

Craig Collinson

is the above setup with the atomic extra drrrrrroooooop front shock tower or sp also where are purple springs on the charts cant find them cheers

Neil Skull 21-06-2010 04:02 PM

Hey Fabs,

that track was less than 9km from Sucy.

I would have come and said helo if i had known as i was finished by about 11.00am :(

I could have got a lift with Jean.

gps3300 21-06-2010 04:37 PM

Atomic Carbon front tower doesn't have any extra droop, just has one extra outer hole to allow the shocks to stand more upright than the standard tower

Not purple springs, they are the cobalt springs.

My setup was different to Craig's in that I ran 25 degrees front kick up.

Hey Neil,

Shame on YOU ! lol

Fabs 21-06-2010 08:52 PM

SimonW: your car was shipped this morning.

For the others, I'm sorry but I was just told that I have to move out asap, which means this week, so I won't be able to ship anymore kits this week.

Lowie 21-06-2010 09:01 PM

Fabs, what about that car for Simon? WIl you be able to get it to him?
A posible solution, is that I lend him my car.
It seems now that due to some familiy-reasons I won't be able to run at our next National ... and there are no more races around ...

Fabs 21-06-2010 10:20 PM

I shipped it this morning

How nice to be told a couple of days in advance that I have to leave... Not that I didn't know I had to, but I'd always been told that would be in July...

SimonW 21-06-2010 10:54 PM

@ Ludo, Thank you for your generous, nay selfless offer, you are a Gent'.

@ Fabs, Thank you for putting yourself out to post my kit, It is much appreciated.
What a croc that you are being kicked out early, have you not got some sort of tenancy agreement that gives a minimum notice period? I'm not up to speed on French laws so this may not even be relevant.

It's no tenancy, I've been staying at my grand parent's flat since I came back from the UK, it's been sold about 3 months ago and we were just waiting on a date for the actual sale, which we got yesterday evening, that's all. I'm all sorted with a place to stay etc, but I'm gonna have to help my dad pack up his own stuff too...

njc11 22-06-2010 09:18 AM

Some pics of mine..

As i ran on Sunday at Hinckley to try  felt good but plenty more things to try!

Cheers

Awesome Nick, glad you like the car !

Strange however that your turnbuckles are touching the shocks in the normal position, as Ludo just built his car and didn't have this problem, it was close but not a problem.

t8rtot 22-06-2010 02:41 PM

How much? And do u ship to the US?
