Tom,

What length ball cups are you using?

damp clay setup

our latest national was at a damp/wet clay track. since there aren't many clay or dirt setups around, i thought it might be worth posting.

The track was mostly damp, but sometimes wet after an occasional rainshower.
At the beginning of the day, the track was smooth, but during finals became quite bumpy.

The control tyres were Losi IFMAR studs

I was very happy with this setup

Is that running a v3 6.5 Speed Passion motor?

What gear ratios are people running with the V3?

It's a V2. Haven't made the switch to a V3 yet.

hi is there a set up for eastrax for the sx2?

mikeyscott 25-07-2010 08:15 PM

Can people recommend a gearing set-up for a V3 6.5

Mine was running very hot today and I'm looking at 83/22 next time etc.

Running a SP GT Pro ESC too, so am planning on winding the timing totally back on that too.

Big G 25-07-2010 09:49 PM

I've been running on 21/83 and it gets warm on grass, but never too hot.

can run 15 mins on astro no problems

Just saw this photo of trish's cat on the RHR report.

http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/2010n.../DSC_5920.html

If you look closely you will see that the rear block has been raised. What is the advantage of doing this?

More rear end grip on low grip tracks

andy reeves 28-07-2010 05:49 PM

I guess that it has been re-drilled the same distance as the front rear block mod? Would be interested to hear other peoples thoughts that have tried this.

Hi,

What castor blocks were you using, 7.5s?

Also what does LEV stand for with regards to shock length?

Cockerill 05-08-2010 06:32 AM

I was running 12.5 deg Caster blocks, and I'm pretty sure Si was too.

I think Lev = level and refers to ride height, meaning driveshafts level

Ok thanks. Is that what you normally run?

What shock lengths do you normally run?

Big G 05-08-2010 07:39 AM

I've been running 12.5 yokes for a few meetings now and I'm liking them. I found they take out a lot of that initial snap into a corner so you don't suddenly find you've oversteered

I've not taken the 12.5deg blocks off since I built the car, so yes I normally run them

Front Shocks: Short Ball Cups (Standard ones) with no threads showing

Rear Shocks: Short Ball Cups (Standard ones) with 2 threads showing

Thanks Tom, I'll certainly look at these etc.

At our track 4WD people run staggered ribs on the front, but I'm finding I haven't got enough grip, so going to try heavily cut down 4WD fronts again.

Are you running the S1 chassis and top deck all the time these days?

I'm also thinking of looking at the FAB thing, as I run a one way layshaft at the mo. I'm tempted to try the car with full time 4WD again etc.

mikeyscott 13-08-2010 08:30 PM

Hi,

Anyone got a starting Cat SX set-up for silverstone?

Cheers,

Havnt got enough grip??
Do you mean sterring as in initial turn in?
Are you sure your using a cat sx haha!

What setup you trying??
Theres loads of things to give you more!
Try some 7.5 alloy yokes!!

mikeyscott 13-08-2010 10:16 PM

Already running 7.5s

Haven't raced for weeks, I was going to soften the front and increase camber.

I think it's corner exit grip.

Going to try a S1 chassis and see what it's like.

I'll test next week and remind myself!

hi there,

has anyone got a good starting setup for grass tracks for a phil booth edition?

many thanks

lewis

Big G 12-10-2010 11:00 PM

I found Mossy's Oswestry setup very good at ludlow which is a bumpy, high grip grass track

here.
The only difference I made was I only had 6 hole rear pistons

gazhillAE 17-10-2010 09:12 PM

AE oil on that setup also!
The 5 holes are the way to go with the 4 in front!

superstu55 20-11-2010 08:21 PM

anti roll bar??

Hi, ran my sx2 indoors for the first time this week & it seemed to be rolling way to much on the back end, now i know my oil was to thin only 30wt with a 2.5 spring, now changed it to 40wt still with the 2.5 spring but should i be fitting an anti roll bar??
Any advise appreciated..

spud31 16-12-2010 08:31 AM

moth898 16-12-2010 01:45 PM

Simon's indoor setup works great for me

Simon's Ardent set up is now on our website.

lewis666 19-01-2011 04:09 PM

hi there,

i have just ordered a speed passion 6.5 turn motor and i need to know a good starting gear ratio. i currently have a 83 t spur and i have looked at setup sheets and alot have them geared at about 21 to 23 tooth pinions?

i have a 23t pinion would that be fine for a grass track that varies from large to a small track?

many thanks

lewis

superstu55 21-01-2011 09:41 PM

Anybody suggest a good sx2 set up for very small twisty carpet tracks with no ramps, the main problem i'm having is the inside rear wheel lifting sometimes which makes the car feel a tad unpredictable.
Cheers Stu.

Mossy 22-01-2011 08:23 AM

Use my Ardent setup.

@Mossy: Did you cut away any rows of pins at your tires?

Thanks i'll give that a try, ive just ordered a rear anti roll bar, ive been running 3.5 springs on the rear with no roll bar thinking the stiffer springs would stop it rolling & lifting the inside wheel but i'll try the rollbar with 2.5 springs as your set-up. Someone has suggested putting a spacer plate below the rear camber plate to lift the top links, would this be of any benefit?? Cheers Stu.
