Broke more bits in 2 heats than I did in the last 2 years! I don't think those pipes held in place with thick steel rods like my car

Don't hit them, simples! They are after all barriers not targets. Lol
On a serious note no track is perfect and we have to really try and make the most of what limited opportunities we have. I really enjoyed yesterday and even surprised myself qualifying A3 in 2wd. That in itself was like winning for me.

Absolutely lashed rain for most of the way home too. Trying to get wet gloves off at the toll to give them a poxy 70 cent didn't help the journey either

Good idea, I'll try that, have to make the marshalls do some work though. I think missing the practice sessions earlier was my downfall, pain in the hole going out in a heat for your first time on track you never raced on.

Dont get me wrong the organisers did their best at a track which is clearly not suited to 1/10th.
I stand to be corrected but,as far as i am aware the track should not be constructed from markers which are likely to damage your car ?
I do know that the object is to avoid the track markers but when you hit one that didnt need to be where it was and it snaps your chassis in half something isint right.
With a little refinement it could be sorted ,after all we are not all experts and it is a 1/8th track.!
After all that well done to those who ran the event and were very helpful on the day and are trying to give us something different.

Great track and great experience and a brilliant challenge for a novice driver and on the flip side 4 heats and 3 finals not a single thing broke that is a win for me in its self

Totally agree....maybe i shouldnt when I had 4 heats and 3 finals and only finished 2 of them though :lol:.
You have to be happy to race at such a fantastic facility with great organisation and the two heats/finals that i did finish were because i slowed down and drove clean....and I also won both so i think that is a lesson well learned for me, slow down to speed up!!

I think that the lads doing the organising did a great job in fairness. It was also nice to race on astro outdoors.
But I agree with some of the stuff mentioned above. The track just wasnt suited to 1/10. In one crash I did over 50 euros worth of damage on one of the steel bars holding the track markers down.

Simple answer is to get a 1/8e lads, it's the future ;)

+1  The race director Carel was on the ball all day and took no guff from anyone.

I really enjoyed the meeting..... good turnout, relatively incident free racing, officials ran the meeting well and got us finished just before the rain started...

I am hoping to go. I just have to see can I get a buggy for the weekend.

ian h 12-09-2012 01:48 PM

You can use my SV2 if you want as I won't be racing.

MiCk B. 13-09-2012 08:54 PM

Who's heading out to Lucan on Friday and / or Saturday for some practice?

(Derek, did you get that email I sent to you about rounds 2 & 3?)

MiCk B. :-)

Never saw anything about practice the days before any other round, why have we started now with this event since there was no noticfication about it in the offical notes for the event. Is this dmcc allowing this practice to go ahead?
