Ready for their new masters....

Well, at least until my lad took a liking to the orange and blue one... ;-)

Never tried marbling before, whats the best way? - spray a wet coat and dab a scrunched up plastic bag into it, or dab the paint on with the bag? I went with the former but dabbed at it a little hard in one or two spots and scratched the silver (did the lights and pinstripes first).

The green and blue one is a repeat for one of our Louth chaps, and the green/orange/yellow was just a bit of tomfoolery to try some different colours...

cheers

Looking cool mate. Good designs, nice colours.

No right or wrong way to marble things, just whatever works for you.

julianb 29-06-2012 10:17 PM

Cheers Fella,

Got a few more on the way, learn't a lot with these last three, need to start pushing the boat out a bit, getting bored doing similar designs all the time!

Make some templates up or go onto RC Tech and download them, they have the TC ones on there or search for templates of the real cars "theblueprints" is useful for that sort of thing.

You can sketch on them and formulate ideas.

Looking good  I really like the one on the left thats just my style, looked great.

The marbling looks like its came out well, I personally like to lay a wet coverage of paint and dab but like Ian says its what suits you best.

Keep up the good work.

Finished up a quickie Supastox tourer shell for the lad. It's okayish, wish I'd not added the shading to the white. Far too dark. Ah well, it'll be dead by the end of Sunday.... ;-)

Steveonamission 12-07-2012 06:30 PM

Hey Julian,

Looks cool....

Question... Did you get any overspray film included on the Supastox shell? I was picking at a couple yesturday and I couldn't find any on either styles.

Cheers.

coleman758 12-07-2012 06:41 PM

The Mardave/Kamtek shell has not got overspray film, I just bought the Schumacher shell, I thought it may have the film, Mainly because its more expensive.

But no, Its just a Mardave/Kamtek shell in a schumacher bag

julianb 12-07-2012 09:38 PM

Lol, yeah bit cheeky really, sticking Kamtec shells in a Shuey bag.!!! Not even close in terms of quality. Compare an SV2 shell with one....yuk.

I carefully applied some clingfilm, but tbh, I find a quick rub with some of the missus' acetone free nail varnish remover removes most crap on the exterior without damage.

Just finished a Cougar SV shell for clubmate Mitch Fiddling. Similar scheme to his current Tourer which I painted a while ago...

Agreed !!!!!!!!

The whole car looks wicked but the headlights really stand out, fantastic work matey.

Cheers chaps!

Just getting bored of doing the same stuff over and over again. Been considering a top quality brush for fine detail. The old SBS can be a bit of a pig trying to get really consistent thin smooth lines.

What are the Iwata Kustom brushes like?

cheers

fellow Louth racer Will Vertigan has been perusing the ETS gallery on the redrc.net website.

"Can you do something like this"....

Feck, it's taken hours. And he wants three the same!!! Should have done them all at the same time, but was curious to see if I could get a close facsimile before commiting to the other two.

I'm pretty pleased with it, although there is one error on the left side of the car - must have pulled some paint when unmasking the orange...Ah well, it will be plastered with stickers soon enough anyway...

Likey?

Cheers

Ju
