crazy, so what's the deal the - are Tamiya releasing this buggy randomly around the world? How am I supposed to get a car to review if I don't know where I'll be able to buy it?
I have it pre-ordered from Japan, obviously cheaper but the main reason is because they get things first - but it seems it's being sold before the release date??

I'm keen to get this car

jasonrcb on here had his at the weekend at Coventry, think he said it came from Stella for about £80

budgio 26-11-2007 09:38 PM

I would be interested to know where to get the slipper clutch from and the hop up parts (cvd,s etc)

The only db-01 bits i see on stella are the black dish wheels.

DCM 26-11-2007 09:48 PM

They have had it, the car was ready a couple of weeks ago and in shops.... but the official release date is the 29th, not before. If Tamiya find they have been sold, they might not get them again till the official release day.

A.J. Gee 26-11-2007 11:09 PM

Who knows, maybe Tamiya is happy to see one of their products in great demand. Its not like they are losing money to anyone from getting their product earlier than normal, but then again i dont operate any type of business, so im not sure what the deal is.

DCM 26-11-2007 11:54 PM

i know for a fact that a lot of the BIG Tamiya distributors were not at all happy with the fact that they would lose out on initial sales due to people buying driect from large places in Japan, so they have instigated glabal release and global pricing, so in theory you shouldn't be able to get it any quicker from anywhere or at a cheaper price.

Check out Tamiya USA site and put DB01 in the search box, and up comes all the hopups and bits they have or had in stock slipper is amongst them M8:);)

DCM 27-11-2007 10:16 AM

tamiyausa wont sell any db01 bits till the 29th.... and I see there are no more db01's on ebay when I looked last night either.

sosidge 27-11-2007 10:47 AM

There are DB01s in several shops in the UK, they came into the Hobby Company last Thursday and were dispatched immediately.

jimmy 27-11-2007 10:52 AM

Good old Hobby Co - so they are selling it before the release date then whilst everyone else behaves?

sosidge 27-11-2007 11:01 AM

If you have a problem with the Hobby Company selling something before it is available in Japan then you are better off taking it up with them.

I suppose the benefit is that the people who are prepared to support the UK shops get their cars a bit sooner this time around! If a shop in the real North East had one in yesterday then there would have been an assembled one on my desk right now!

To be honest the HC are probably are less concerned by an apparent release date and more concerned to get stock out of their warehouse as quickly as possible, rather than have it sit on shelves unsold.

jimmy 27-11-2007 11:42 AM

oh well...

DCM 27-11-2007 01:31 PM

I know some may have been prospecting on tinternet as they can buy and ship kits to the UK from HK cheaper than HC can supply....

budgio 27-11-2007 09:20 PM

Found the slipper and cvd,s

A bit pricey though...i,ll keep looking on ebay over the next few days, hopefully more options on the 29th

http://sicotange.skyrock.com/

I didn't figured out how to post pics on this awesome forum yet...
I made a lot of pics of the car so if someone could tell me how to post pics on this forum it would be great. Thanks in advance.

Greetings from Belgium.

Doomanic 27-11-2007 09:47 PM

If the pic is hosted on the web, just wrap the picture url with image tags.

so, [img]picture url[/img]

becomes
