Hehe, can't wait to test it !

Well, today, I have tested the both Flip Out and Double Dee's tire on my club track, very slippy because a lot of dust :

The Flip Out are not bad, BUT, the Double Dee's are soooo much better : a lot of traction, a lot of motricity, also a lot of side grip, and a very good durability !
THIS is the tire I choose for now !

In the front, I tested the Groovy and the Rounder :

Rounder has less grip overall, perfect if you have too much steering, or in a grippy track.
Groovy has a lot of grip, perfect for my slippy track.

Groovy in the front and Double Dee's on the rear : the perfect couple !
Very good streering, very good motricity.
(dont forget I have a specific weight distribution !!!)

About the alu ilder gear, nothing specific to say, maybe a different noise, but nothing more, nothing less.

did you have goosebumps? i'd be interested to see how they compared to double dee's in the dust

kedal 28-07-2010 09:35 AM

I have had goose bump, and I loved it, but very less than the double dees.

IMO, double dee's and big shot are the best in the dust (i dont have tried Hole shot)
and goose bump/flip out and Step In are very good in mud or on a grippy track.

Yea kedal the jconcepts dd's are nice. The flipouts are good also!

kedal 29-07-2010 03:08 PM

Yeah Rob, you have both of them on your 4wd, no chance to be disapointed ;)

kedal 29-07-2010 05:31 PM

A little mod to put my Tekin RS like my Ezrun esc :

I dont recall if Ive mentioned this, but man am I happy with the truck! Just a little tuning and its awesome. I drilled out the pistons to 4 hole just for the rear, 30wt, some ride hight tweaking. It handles great, easy to drive like the 4wd. Only thing is I keep breaking t plates. I ran out of spares so I reglued it and made an aluminum reinforcement plate. Apparently, theres a flaw in the design at the back part of the chassis, where the hinge pin holder mounts. When installed and tightened down, it induces a slight bend in the plate, making it susceptible to breakage.
A trophy race a few weekends ago, first ever race with the truck, I qualified 3rd behind a couple regular fast guys. In the single main I was in a pileup and was last at the start (10th) but worked my way up to 4th and was gaining on 3rd. I was quite happy with the results. Not bad for a $99 kit!

nicefrog 30-07-2010 05:34 AM

I reckon the truck is relatively faster than the buggy (versus the other brands), we can do the same times in the truck as the buggy, still haven't broken a T piece on any of them though, it surely must be an issue that comes to the surface on very hard tracks or something like that because I can crash them as hard as I want, land right on the back of the car etc and not even look like breaking one, everything just flexes a bit

Wake up guys:0, well since everyone's asleep amd Kedal and Rob love Double D's I have some on the way, tyres that is, (My wife over heard us ordering Double Dee's and said you better buy me some too) so that was the funny part of the story

my mad rat

Hello guys!
I´m also tuning my mad rat! Now it has losi xxx cr shocks and lunsford turnbuckles!
Now i´m working on a 5mm aluminium front shock tower:)
Have you any tips for other upgrades?
Thanks Simon

ps sorry for my bad english:thumbdown:

nicefrog 31-07-2010 03:08 PM

Simon, sounds good, I only upgrade things when they break, but I'd like to see a picture of your shock tower one day.

My 4wd is in the country, I should have it in 2 days, 3 at the latest :). I also forgot to mention, I ordered the sway bar kit from tcmodels. Hopefully next time I need to order something the mid motor chassis for the 2wd will be finished :D

kedal 31-07-2010 04:06 PM

Turbosimi :
Check my blog, I talk about hop up I use and some mod I made.

I also use Losi shocks, check my set up ;)

I think you bought also a bearing ball kit, so, after the shock, the important hop up is the optionnal motor plate, really stronger than the stock one !

Well, maybe the alu hex, very good to use, but that's all you need to make the Mad Rat a competitive car.

I've just seen kedal signing in into y messenger, and suddenly came the ideea to share with you guys, that I've finished 4th against B4s, B4.1s, stadium trucks and so on. (well.... the MadRat friend has finished 2nd, but hes older in this as I am :P )this saturday in our 3rd round :D 2 more to go. After all I didn't buy the PL 4 ribs, I've bought some Ballistic Buggy Studs. Added 70gr of weight and firmed up front suspention, set camber and caster.... so lot of work :) But it worth it. From now on it will be only better and better.
Cheers ;)

Good job elod !
A little work on the car makes a lot of difference on the track.

I tried the inner hole on the rear arms and I've got a lot more grip.

zagonielod 02-08-2010 11:26 AM

good for you positronic :) I also ran with alu hexes in the front, cas the MadRat friend had 2 which he didn't use now.
Have to work up some supplys. I have prepared a list, which will be brought from Viena, Austria, and after that I'll see what else do I need. I think I will stick with the MadRat for at least on e more season. I want to learn to drive 2WD buggies well. After that I probably will buy a B44, or a truck.

nicefrog 03-08-2010 12:21 AM

TC04 is here!:), I'll start building it later. Last time I had 4WD RC was an Optima mid but I never had enough money to buy a quality a esc and motor at the time to do it justice so I sold it. I regretted that ever since. I'm sure this will be a faster car than that so it will cure the emotional wounds a bit :). The parts look good
