Me and G are going to oxfam today, we are going to try to buy some period clothes, hopefully shiny shell-suits (yellow & green was best I seem to remember - like Wayne & Waynetta have).
There is also model train show down the road, our mates Train Men 1,2 & 3 might be there.
I will take the camera and do a little report, it will be great.:)

jimmy 11-11-2006 04:50 PM

I did sum stickers for all us vintage rasers who attend. I went for period stile lettering, or I tryd.

News on the Motors. Adam is sceptical that the Saturn motor will be available for us so he is looking into sourcing motors from Mirage, maybe Nosram,
http://www.mirageracing.com/graphics...al/nr97541.jpg
or Orion,
http://www.mirageracing.com/graphics...l/ori25025.jpg

Both are hopefully available as 21x2's
Looking at the prices they will be a couple of quid more than the Sarturn but they will hopefully be less than £10 for those that pre-book in.

Northy 14-11-2006 06:24 PM

Good news Stu, we need to sort this ASAP if possible.

21x2, great news, the Cobra's gearbox didn't much like the 12 turn I stuck in at weekend... think it made 5 mins before sounding the death rattle!

Northy 14-11-2006 06:51 PM

I think Stu said his 6 gear RC10 did about 4 laps before he melted the spur gear with a 12 in it! It was quite literally 'smoking'! :o

Stu 15-11-2006 05:36 PM

I need contact details for Peter at Castle Models.
I have sorted the motor's with HPI, I need get it sorted with Peter now.
Please let me know, I'm sure someone out there has his number.

jimmy 15-11-2006 05:46 PM

which motors we gettin stu ?

Got the stickers done today - might add some retro HPi ones to show my love

Stu 15-11-2006 06:00 PM

It'll be the Saturn's as originally intended.

HPI stickers would be cool, they will send us ALL their hard to obtain stock, they will even discount on trade to Peter, they deserve some exposure for sorting it for us.

Someone PM me Peter's number, I need to arrange delivery thru him.

Stu 16-11-2006 06:04 PM

Sorted, the motors are ordered thru' Peter.

jimmy 16-11-2006 06:07 PM

any idea on cost stu ?

Stu 16-11-2006 06:11 PM

Not sure, between £5 & £8.

Less than a Barry.

Northy 16-11-2006 06:12 PM

Depends which Barry though shurely?

G

Northy 16-11-2006 09:46 PM

PaulRotheram 16-11-2006 10:03 PM

Still waiting for my article to be published in Racer......

Chrislong 18-11-2006 03:53 PM

Is someone already doing the race report on this for Racer? If not, then I don't mind doing it, and Jimmy/Stu photos?

I got my Hot Dog going today, Tekin speedcontrol, 27turn P2K2 motor, Slow Futaba servo and some GP3300 cells. It seems to go okay.

I can't botch the front diff, so its going to be 2wd with a hint of pull coming from the front, but only a wiffa at that.

Shocks with Losi springs were a bit high, managed to find some AE springs, and make the shocks hold some oil, oh and make all the shock bushings work better.

In its current state, it can go doggy style round the living room for ages!

If anybody wants to buy it, im going to be selling it as it is with everything but the receiver and tranny. Then I'll find somet 2wd.

As saturday gets closer, the days get longer, that's because I'm trying to get enough Vintage cars ready to hold my own heat:D , Here's one I'm just finishing off. Brian Kinwald has contacted me to see if I can rebuild his Diff for him:rolleyes: ...........http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...1/Goldtub1.jpg

WHITTLER555 20-11-2006 10:36 PM

RECIPE!

Take one 1979 RS2000 Ford Escort

Add a new very tight 2.0 Pinto engine

Mix this with Super Unleaded

Get a mechanic from Blackpool who actually knows what he is doing (unlike the owner!)

Add 24 volts of Leisure batteries

And HEY PRESTO!

MY NEW ENGINE RUNS!!!!:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Bit smokey though from the oil filler cap:( JIM??????

WHITTLER555 20-11-2006 10:37 PM

Jim, also found some original chrome Turbop Optima rear wheels for the Ultima which have the correct offset.

Looks ACE!!:D

Northy 21-11-2006 06:36 PM

Got a spare RC10 cell holder on there. I would have had to have cut the original JRX one to make my cells fit, I didn't wan't to do that. It's not original, but I think for the right reason.
Still need to sort the gear cover - Damo?
Speedo & servo are as reasonably 'period', radio is obviously well out though. I really NEED an Attack-R.

Northy 21-11-2006 07:21 PM

Looks ace Stu, but do you know how rare those white battery cups are! :o

G

Stu 21-11-2006 07:42 PM

Don't worry, I have three.

Northy 21-11-2006 07:43 PM

But I NEED some! :o

G

Stu 21-11-2006 07:49 PM

You can have my third one if you need it, it's not a good un tho, someone has cut it in the past.

jimarea51 21-11-2006 08:32 PM

Stu,

Not the only thing you like in threes:o

So a little dicky bird tells me;)

jimarea51

Stu 21-11-2006 08:36 PM

Painted myself silver, looked like a tripod!

Northy 21-11-2006 08:48 PM

I'd like a 3some with 2 lezzas.

G

Stu 21-11-2006 08:54 PM

Yeah.
I would too.
Lezzas is ace, especially them ones that look like BabySpice.

jimmy 21-11-2006 08:55 PM

:o I give up!

Stu 21-11-2006 09:01 PM

MC Hammer pants
G tells me he's gonna' be dressin' up fot'racin'

WHITTLER555 21-11-2006 09:45 PM

Stu, believe it or not the BK2 gear cover will fit over the gears and locate on the top screw with another near the pinion with a big washer to hold it in place.

Either way you can borrow mine, all three cars will be attending:

1 RC10 Stealth
2 Ultima Pro
3 Losi JRX2

Are we having a pyjama party??

Stu 21-11-2006 10:00 PM

We can be at Suds for last orders (6 x pints 'a' double-chance'). Bagsy G's spare bed.

Northy 21-11-2006 10:10 PM

Suds = Ace :D
