Is there any videos of the k1 going round a track?

Got mine

Picked mine up today from Apex Models.

Nearly built, just the shocks and few little bits to go.

Super car and fantastic quality. Love it already.

Pleased Schumacher are finally including pots of moly/diff greece instead of the silly little bags. 10/10 for that!

thorns_nz 12-12-2012 06:52 AM

Bit of an odd question, could anyone tell me if an 80mm servo lead would be long enough to run in the K1?

matdodd 12-12-2012 11:56 AM

It should be fine dependent on how/where you install the rx

DeMogoobra 12-12-2012 10:01 PM

Wish list before the outdoor season. An SVR2 with the same black as K1 and shocks. Carbon fibre chassis and Sv2 driveshafts. Please Schumacher!!! For us that race on slippery dirt all summer long ;)

This car simply looks amazing. But one thing comes to my mind: with the motor and servo mounted on the left, how well is the car balanced left to right? I have the impression it might be quite a bit heavier on the left. What do you think?

Nitrius 13-12-2012 08:43 PM

What size tools is needed? 2.0mm and 2.5mm hex wrenches?

1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 hex wrenches

stegger 15-12-2012 09:35 AM

Got to say this car builds up so nice and easy. X And no more middle belt idle gears to mess with. It should spool up quicker without the extra drag of the 3rd belt and gears.

My K1 with same paint scheme as my SVR got

It fits well. not as much room as i thought, but still more than the SX3.....

Would have prefered the servo the other side, meaning very short motor wires and even neater. But I am sure schuey have there reasons....;)

DeMogoobra 16-12-2012 05:22 PM

Tartman, if you are looking for neat you can build yourself one of these ;)

RX, PT and capacitor inside that thing. Silly invention but hey, thats me :)

Hi,
Building the front and rear shocks, its says in the manual that they are both the same length from ball end to bottom of shock body..27.25mm..but to get this on the front shocks the ball end is not screwed in very much ,is this right?

Cockerill 16-12-2012 06:43 PM

The front length should read 22.25mm :)

simon 16-12-2012 06:56 PM

Ah..great thank you..in the manual its 27.25......any other tips!!??

Thanks for your help...

ulrich 16-12-2012 09:45 PM

Seems not easy to check the pinion/spur :-(

DeMogoobra 16-12-2012 10:08 PM

A little bit trickier but not so much. Schumachers famous motor clamp system makes it easy ;).
Never looking when I do that anyway. Feel and listen is how I check.

U4174 - gear diff

any rumors when gear diffs (U4174) will become available for K1? I bet it would also fit SX3, am i right?
And finally: is it worth to switch to gear diffs? Less maintenance?

DeMogoobra 17-12-2012 02:24 PM

Gd are not a rumor. Will come out January.
And they do not fit sx3:(
And how they perform vs ball I can't tell you. My only wish is that they don't leak ;)

dMITIj 17-12-2012 06:42 PM

why will you guys put a Gear Diff in the K1? why not buy XB4 ect.?

how do u know that? Because of diff pulley size? Coz Diff outputs (U3853 & U3852) are common with SX3...

I don't know but would say that the pulley gearing will not be the same as the SX3 pulleys

Gayo 17-12-2012 08:26 PM

K1 diffs are offset, unlike SX3 ones.

Sorry but they don't fit the Sx3

mark christopher 17-12-2012 09:04 PM

prob the same reason i was told the svr gear diff will not fit the sv2

the K1 pulley have off set to one side, the SX3 have the pulley in the middle. On K1 is shims needed to reduce sideways slop and in the K1 have they cut more material away in gearhousing to make more place to the geardiff.

I was full throttle down the straight. Didn't realize the Durango try to regain traction and doing fish tail in the middle of the straight. I ram into his back and bust my bumper.:o

badger5 19-12-2012 07:14 AM

If you only broke a bumper then I think you did well, shows how strong the car is IMO.

Broke the left upper shock tower mount yesterday. Landed on the front, didn't have much speed, so must say i got a bit surprised. Heard it might be a weak point on the car, but was hoping they would last a bit longer, as i didn't get to drive much before it happened. But they are available in alu, so that's a sure buy for me now.

The front diff cover also got broken in half, just where the plastic goes under the shock tower mount, where the hole in the body is supposed to be placed.

Picture of the damage here:
