I got a chance to run some of our tires on my 4wd this past weekend (at a State Series event ~80 entries), and I must say they're great! I was able to finish 3rd, behind Jason and another factory AE, Proline, Kyosho, etc guy. Things are looking good for a summer release still as well!

Just figured Id give you an update, even though your tire choices are pretty well set already.

I'll put it on the list, want to give any input? The Schumacher mini pin, and mini spike are the hot tires, right? Is that because of their design, or their status as a spec tire of sorts? Im a little ignorant of how things work over there, so information is appreciated!

Chris Doughty 23-05-2007 06:31 AM

the spike 'shape' of the schumacher mini-spike is superb, personally, I don't like their round tire body though.

their yellow compound is pretty dialled on most of our kind of tracks.

they are the spec tire because they work so well, if there was no tire rule, on a 'normal' dry day everyone would be on them anyway.

MK999 23-05-2007 08:41 AM

Who painted the hyper shell? :o that's insane

Other than a miraculous discovery, you guys are basically covered on tires then?

Jim Myers www.jconcepts.net/paint

There is a link to his email on there.

Chris Doughty 25-05-2007 07:21 AM

you could say that....

but if you were to produce a tire in a single compound only that 'worked' on our tracks then you might be #1 candidate for the controlled tire business in the UK.

start any 'tire rule' debate on an english forum and you will get PLENTY of opinions and ideas, none of which work because its hard to 'police' the compound, spike pattern is easy to recognise.

also, the shape of the schumacher tire is not great imho. the 'ballistic buggy' tire carcas is much better, Proline and Losi are also better too but might not be as suited to our tracks.

do a search, there might be a few old tire debates on this or my forum.

MK999 25-05-2007 09:06 AM

is there any reason that we run round profile tyres as opposed to square profile? round tyres were pretty much a no no on 8ths, there was no point unless the track was so rutty and bumpy that going sideways on square tyres just made them dig in and roll. But possibly tenths are more prone to grip rolling? If there isn't a reason, theres your miraculous discovery Andy :p (I'll take 20% of all your sales mmkay? :D)

Andy Moore 26-05-2007 06:47 PM

Thanks for the info Chris. I'll take a look around... I think a "feasibility study may be in order, haha.

[MK999] -Our head guy has a little expirience with tires, so no worries there;) It could be a big gamble if we decide to persue it, so will you contribute 20% to our losses too? haha, jk.

bigred5765 26-05-2007 06:57 PM

no but if it turns out to be anything like the schuy tyre ill take 20% in profits lmao

Andy i see on the swish new website, there are 2wd front rib tires are these available ?. And what is the difference between the two types ?.

_sleigh_ 29-09-2007 10:34 AM

Looks as though the "Rounder" is a bit like a Pre-Scrubbed rib.

Both styles are great value, at $12.50 including insert. :)

Andy, how do they compare in width and compound to Pro-Line/Losi ribs??

I hate to keep doing this, but its and inevitable comparison...The groovy is similar to the 8175 LP 4-Rib, and the Rounder is similar to the Pre Scrub 2-rib from Losi. There are changes we felt necessary to each though. More styles in the coming month/s!

They are similar, but as stated above, we instituted some necessary tweeks.
