Is the new xb2 using the same ball diff as the xb4 16?

Brittle??? Yeah right... Where is the time that xray 4wd buggies had yokomo diffs inside to just hold up? At least the diffs of the yz-2 and yz-4 are the same :p Apart from these jokes, there's no doubt that both cars are at the top of the food chain however with both their own pros and cons.

I'm impressed. Looks like a well designed very high quality car. Ludicrously adjustable. Great Job Guys! I have a XB4'15, which I love. This car will make me switch my 2wd to Xray as well. I'm not impressed with the new 22 3.0 . To me its a dirt car. Their mid motor setup looks a lot like the XB2 dirt mid motor setup-motor as close to the diff as possible for rear traction, not forward for balance.

What size motor will most of you put in this?

I am thinking of running a 8.5T which is 5400kV for the motor I've selected and this is for most medium size astro tracks.

6.5 or 7.5

what pinion would you recommend for an 8.5T on medium sized tracks? Using the stock spur to begin with.

So - XB2 - bit confusing re options.

If I buy the carpet kit (thats the one available in the UK right now) - will a conversion be available with relevant bits to convert to low grip - if so any idea re cost - Xray are notorioulsy expensive re options....

Also re surface - if racing indoors, on slippy floors - would the carpet kit be rubbish?
It looks like the layout is very similar to the YZ2 and that seems to work ok?

We don't know much but from my experience with the YZ2 an XB2 built with medium parts, ball diff and rear shocks on the back will be great on medium grip.
Composite front chassis, 3 pads slipper and medium parts should yield to an easier car than the Yokomo with more traction.

don't think it will be that expensive not option parts just will be standard parts from a dirt spec car

Picked mine up yesterday from RCDisco(thanks Greg). Can't wait to get building. It's a great car. Lots of very clever innovations as always from Xray.

What about the other way, buy the dirt spec car then all you need is the motor plate and gear box halves? am I assuming right?

Anyone have any idea what springs are in the kit?. Need a good starting setup for carpet too.

1 dot front and rear, supposed to be good for carpet.

Going to wait for 'Dirt' Car - as it's (hopefully) more usable, more of the time IMO.
Also ball diff is SILLY expensive, £48.99 - gulp....

If it's mainly just a gearbox mould (diff excluded) - you'd think they could have just released one car with both options - lots of other cars come with more than one gearbox mould - or was the 'Dirt' car an after thought if they realised the car only worked well on high grip?
