yeap, and safer when you are using battery tape in the tourer.....

I just thought that i would let everyone who plans on purchasing a Durga that i found some at a japanese (english friendly) web site thats selling them for 13,650 yen which converts to about $122.00 dollars and for the british pound 57 pounds. This seems way too cheap to be true. Does anyone have a thought on this?

bender 30-11-2007 10:35 PM

DCM is exactly right, saddle packs are a pain to use in a TC, because there is often not much space to position the link wire, plus with the cells being split into two it's easier for them to become dislodged in a crash.

I also want to try lipo's soon, and again, the current stick pack style hard-cased lipo's is what I will buy - and they are no good in the 501x.

http://rc-champ.jp/cp-bin/oscommerce/catalog/

They have various packages. Just email them to get all the info.

DCM 30-11-2007 11:04 PM

already got mine from there... should be here next week

A.J. Gee 30-11-2007 11:16 PM

Hey DCM you must have ordered it when they had some in stock because as of now they have none available. I just ordered mine off of ebay for $194.00 including shipping. A popular US company called tower hobbies is going to be selling them for $225.00 when they get them in mid december.

DCM 30-11-2007 11:27 PM

with a new release from Tamiya, you got to email RC-Champ up front to get on the first batch of sales.... kinda stamp your kit before. mine is bought and paid for.

On a side note, I think, if you want upgrades, suspension wise, buy TRF501X stuff.

A.J. Gee 01-12-2007 12:01 AM

Thanks for the advice DCM. Are all the parts from the 501x compatable?

DCM 01-12-2007 12:05 AM

don't know as yet, i got some yukky yeah racing 501X cvd's coming as the db01 and 501x use the same length driveshafts, and as it is suppose to be identical suspension....

I also got a TA05 front one-way to try in there to, and wide tooth pulleys

A.J. Gee 01-12-2007 12:21 AM

alright my friend im glad to hear that some of the parts will work from the 501x, but i am sure that the DB01 will have its own line of very tasty hop ups. I look forward to discussing more about the durga with you and everyone as well. also giving updates on my build.

drinternat 01-12-2007 09:59 AM

parts

I see according to the parts list that some parts are common to the Evo IV also. What motor and speedo would be best?. Brushless I mean. Im looking to get some new batts also. Ive been told the ones from Vapextech are pretty good for the price. Anybody tried them. Im not at competetion level or anywhere near that so wouldnt need the super delux ones.

RogerM 01-12-2007 11:29 AM

For great value cells you need to have a word with Neil Oliver of Stormforce Racing .... Even is top packs are reasonably priced and seem perfectly capable to any level. I know he does cheaper packs too.

Hey Steve,

On the 501X the diffs are the other way round, so a TA05 one way won't work. I'm not sure abt the Durga but it might be the same.

°°.°°sicotange°°.°° 01-12-2007 01:49 PM

The TA-05 one-way won't work but the TRF501X one-way fits without any modifications.

DCM 01-12-2007 05:47 PM

press out the bearings.....??

Spoolio 02-12-2007 10:57 AM

Slipper and Wheels

Got mine on order off evilbay but can't find anywhere selling slipper clutches. Any ideas? I want to run the 7.5T brushless I have spare but daren't without a slipper. Also, I assume its OK to run TRF501X wheels, as its a purley personal thing but I don't like the black kit ones.

jimmy 02-12-2007 11:36 AM

The wheels are the same as 501X and losi / proline wheels, so you can just swap over to any of those.

A.J. Gee 02-12-2007 12:49 PM

Hey jimmy, do u know the exact style of pro line rims that u say will fit the DB01?

purpletimbo 02-12-2007 01:06 PM

http://shopping.rcmodel.hk
Just got an email back to say they have Durga in stock at $149.90
http://shopping.rcmodel.hk/product_i...ducts_id=11839
and they take paypal so no credit card charges
:D

A.J. Gee 02-12-2007 02:50 PM

Dont forget that if u add in the shpping cost it will be about $200.00

purpletimbo 02-12-2007 03:55 PM

Post is $39.59
so less than £100 delivered at paypal exchange rate:D

A.J. Gee 02-12-2007 04:19 PM

thats about the price i got mine for. $145 for the kit and $49.00 for shipping equals $194

purpletimbo 02-12-2007 04:33 PM

All about the same but at least they have them in stock;)
I used these for buying some ABC Hobby MINI Countrymen, they were awesome 48 hour delivery from HK to here

Any B4 or Losi XXX (and xx4) style wheels (also Yokomo BX)

A.J. Gee 02-12-2007 05:21 PM

Thanks Roger.

DCM 02-12-2007 05:37 PM

Are they pin drive rather than hex drive then? Bought my DB01 (can't say D**ga without thinking about Team America) this morning when Stellamodels supposedly had 4 available, now a bit worried that they've gone out of stock and I'll have to wait. Ah, well at least it may give me a bit of time to source a slipper, one way and some CVDs.

jimmy 02-12-2007 07:11 PM

small losi hex on the front and pin on the back - yes. Yokomo fronts will fit but not rears.

DCM 02-12-2007 07:27 PM

to be honest, it is probably cheaper to buy the tamiya ones, I am after shock length so I can try to work out what shocks to use.

wayneski 02-12-2007 07:49 PM

Hello all,
lurked for a while but thought I would actually show my face.
Very interested in getting one of these. Used to race in my youth but only now getting back into it and hopefully getting my son interested.
Anyhow, probably going to order 1 from stella but they have no slippers yet.Supposedly they will have in their next tamiya box of goodies. has anyone managed to source one of these?
I have a mamba Maxx on its way from BPP (sale on 6900 at the mo) and don't want to fit it without the slipper.
Also has anyone found anywhere the has the Acoms 2.4gh in stock?

Thanks in advance

Wayne

DB01 Wheels

To save faffing, I've got some from Stella as they were cheap enough even with postage, 2 sets should be enough for now. If Her Maj's Customs don't stop it on the way in I hope it'll be ready for the next Worksop round. :D

drinternat 02-12-2007 08:59 PM

Durga build

Ive started to have a look at the build for this and could do with some advice from you guys who have already built yours.

First page part D12 (also D10 and D11). what are these for?. do I have to use all of them. They seem to be some kind of spacers.

Second page part BG8. It says to glue with synthetic rubber glue?? I think the part is metal but have not taken it out the bag. What did you guys glue this with or did you glue it all all. Would you recommend drilling holes vent in the wheel rims. I don't see any and I'm told you need to do this so the tires can flex?

Hope this is the correct place to ask all this and you guys don't mind me asking.

DCM 02-12-2007 09:05 PM

at the moment, most of us are still waiting for kits, so don't know what you are on about.

yes, put holes in the rims, 3-4mm

wayneski 03-12-2007 07:59 PM

slipper kit and shocks

So as I asked above, has anyone managed to source a slipper kit for this kit yet?
Also on the shocks front, will the 501x's be a straight fit? Or are there others I should get instead.
Really itching to get this kit but don't want to fudge the transmission by running without a slipper?
cheers

Carlos69 03-12-2007 11:45 PM

Slipper + shocks

RC Champ do currently have slipper kits in. One would reasonably assume the TRF501X shocks would be a straight drop in (I havent ordered my Durga yet).......if you can find them, anyone know who sells them as a set ? hunting down the individual componets is a bit of a chore....and sourcing the 501X threaded alloy shock bodies are rare as hen's nuts

DCM 04-12-2007 12:12 AM

I have seen the bodies, but not all parts.

I've seen the bodies around but I got my shocks from champ. Came complete apart from plastic parts and pistons I think... would rather buy them as a kit tho - not sure why Tamiya haven't released them?
