Stu pm sent
file recovery after a light format or delete is still possible, i sent you a pm, but basically look on goggle for file recovery programs or look for these programs,
davory / winhex / or xway winhex all are trial versions that will recover deleted files up to 1mb ish . you may have to route for a patch or fix to unlock them or buy it

For what it’s worth I thought the decisions were completely right. At the start of round 2 The track was fine and I was more than happy to carry on, I did waterproof my car with blue tack and paper and then it was fine including driving through some big off line puddles  I do agree though that maybe the track can be swept of puddles mid round to ensure consistency.

I saw an S4 in Woodies heat in round 2 go out with each of the (many) scoops on the S4 completely open = completely madness. I do feel sorry for anyone that tried their best to waterproof their car and it still got wet. I’d much rather race on a wet Kidderminster track than virtually any other in the country, bit of WD40 on everything and it was fine, didn’t need cleaning. I too remember Holbeach, A brand new car anf half of it had to be thrown away after 1 meeting.

Lastly I thought the tyres thing was ace. In 2wd I ran BB greens all day and liked then even in the dry. I used I set of net front and rear and then another already worn set for the rear which lasted 2 runs no bother. In 4wd I ran 1 set of pinks which look almost brand new after 2 runs. Personally I saved a fortune over my normal bill there and felt I was on the right tyre for me at all times. I do feel sorry for those that wanted 4wd front pinks and couldn’t get them but at least there were loads of greens available, better than the usual Proline/Losi stud fiasco.

Full spikes all round?

Doomanic 14-05-2007 02:03 PM

TR32s, if you could get a set as they had been discontinued about two years before the meeting.

Chris Doughty 14-05-2007 02:15 PM

the mud was a little bit sandy so it was perfect grinding paste for hinge pins and every other moving part.

my new xxx4 was more worn out than my season old 'test' xxx4 :p

modelimages 14-05-2007 02:17 PM

the problem with tyres i think was due to the ever changing state of the track in 2wd, it started wet dried out and i was selling BB pinks followed by BB green and then Schuey yellows, in 4wd it was BB pinks or greens, i tried to take as much as possible. i had with me on friday afternoon, 100 sets of yellows, 90 sets of pink rears 40 pink fronts and 50 each of greens, including schuey greens etc i had 500 pairs with me, as it turned out i did not have enough front or rear pinks or rear greens to supply everyone, hopefully this will not be a problem for the other nationals as i now have a bit more of an idea on qtys required.

Doomanic 14-05-2007 02:31 PM

I finished the meeting with 20 car sets of BB greens and 20 pairs of rear pinks, so there were (nearly) enough tyres to go round.
More pink fronts would have been nice, but anyone compaining they couldn't get green or pink rears wasn't trying very hard.

Thats fine Dan but its not normaly that wet when we run pins, so tyre wear is higher. At a round of the winter series I ran 1 full set of green mini pins for a 15 min practise 4 rounds & the final and the car was ace. Pidge ran more sets than that & he ran spikes!

Lee Martin 14-05-2007 02:56 PM

and the car was rubbish then! lol

wacattack 14-05-2007 02:57 PM

I kept costs to a minimum by running 1 set of ballistic greens in both practice sessions, and all the qualifying rounds. It was only in the final I used some used (but not as bad a condition as what was already on it) ballistic greens.

Didnt too bad either, 35th in round 3 and 37th in round 4. Maybe I would have done better had I had newer tyres, who knows, but I was happy with that and qualified 8th in the E.

Think some people might have gone a little overboard with the tyre situation, moving from greens, to yellow and back. I (and so did my bro who qualified 6th in the B) stuck to greens all day.

Costs can be controlled if you really want to, and without that much of an impact on your performance

MattADH 14-05-2007 03:02 PM

I personally cant complain about a lack of grip as I snapped a belt in the second round!

First of all I thought that it was either the speedo/motor but then upon checking it, the middle belt had snalpped and took the edge of the spur gear with it during disintegration!!!

ashleyb4 14-05-2007 03:20 PM

Personally i found there was loads of grip in practise and in round 1 3 4 and the final. And in practise i ran yellows. I know im not that quick of a driver but i cant stand it when there is no grip. I also found tyre wear to be ok i ran greens all the rounds and the final except for practise and they still have bucket loads of life on them. I love kiddy and i think they should leave spikes as the control tyres.

I respect the officials that run these meetings, well, after the Euro's 2005 (France) say no more, our section is probably the best run section in the world!!!!!!!
But, "Question" Why was it so important to run the second round? I understand it made an official meeting, but the track was changed after round 1 and was getting more standing water on it all the time. I did not see them sweep any water off after round 1, and I was heat 12. So after only 2 rounds, which the track was different, only 1 score counted. Is this fair?
I am not angry at all. It was the BRCA's choice on what to do, well they had a vote, but why not call the meeting after round 1, or take an hour or 2 to see what the weather was going to do? Then either call the meeting or have another round of qualifing, and maybe even final if the weather improved?

emzy 14-05-2007 04:20 PM

I just wonder what the total cost of everything that got damaged / went pop is...

I'm not angry - officials did what they saw as best, but I'm rather irritated by the fact that people "around my level" who managed to finish a round now have a freakishly high score for the event, which I won't match in my wildest dreams at another National this year. But alas, all down to luck 'eh.

Looking at the picture of that car with its ass in the big puddle... no wonder my car died after going head first into that during round 1! I was taped up to the max in round 2, and still only managed a lap and a half before I stopped... only THREE people in my heat finished (heat 10). Ouch.

It better be sunny at Bury... I need a tan!

with regards to 'timing' on the changed track. the time is only used for the 'split'

if you TQ'ed either round you CAN'T finish lower than 2nd if its best 1 from 2 to count.

Paul did say thats how it would work at the start of the day, he also said there was a very good chance on bad weather, I went out with the knowledge that round 2 was going to be 'the' round to get the result in.

regards the track conditions in round 2, and to a certain extent end of round 1, its a hard one to call, my car had a fair amount of water proofing but we didn't go crazy over-board with balloons and stuff. I did try and negotiate the dryest line where possible, the 'chute' straigt had a dryer section down the middle in my run, I know this might not have been the same for the later heats. and there were certainly some avoid at all costs sections of the track!!

problem is, if they call the meeting before it can 'count' then think of how many hotel bills would have been 'wasted'

I agree about some people getting abnormally good results out of the meeting just because they finished the round where 70% of cars dropped out

but....

it was physically possible to finish at worse 2nd in the meeting by only running in round1. Darren did just that pretty much, though he did race his last round, he didn't need to because his 1st from round1 was his counting score

I am just playing devils advocate here so don't beat me up about this.

Kiddy National huh, I had a really good fun weekend bring on Bury!

Weather was a pain mind this weekend, 2wd I don’t really like, 4wd is the main reason I come to Nationals, managed 6 mins of racing in total on Sunday… not great really huh.

Problem with this water proofing gag is you seal the car up, water in those conditions is always going to find a way in and once it’s in, it stays in and builds up until ‘bang’. I have to say I was shocked when it came to my heat (8) round 2 I couldn’t even find a safe way to the start line, it was silly, and you might as well be driving the cars in a large pond!

Event was really well run, no one can help the weather it happens, I just hope the rules are followed the same for all Nationals ongoing, what would have happened if all the ‘top guys’ cars had the worst weather/track conditions and their cars all stopped… hmmm I wonder, the same deal yeah? We will never know!

I do feel that when the commentator is announcing that 50/60% of cars are not finishing their heats then maybe its time to announce the track unsafe/unusable... but hey its was only the crappy drivers left at the end of the day :D (I speak for myself on that one).

Video's done btw... music sucks I'm told, but hey so did the weather!

Oi! I didn't say it sucked!

You know when I was joking about a B*Witched song for the next one? They have the perfect song for Kiddy - Blame It On The Weatherman!! :D
