If the track is really bad you might want to try moving the shocks to the back of the car haven’t try it yet but lots of the team drives recommend it for this type of track. Mike |

Will try the shock mod again once I'm got a base point to work from again. Just a shame I am sorting it out with summer ending :( |
remove it all and you are left with an O ring, thats it.

Anyone have set-ups from Euro's in Spain, Bilbao??

pretty much |
When i started testing the SX last year, my preference was to run with the diagrams cut as i felt this removed some of the pac on the shocks. The best thing to do is try both and see what suits you. The team are all running them cut.
Si |
Do you fill the shock caps with oil too like the team associated ones or leave it as air?
|
No, but to be fair have never filled the Associated ends up either. I leave them as air.
Si |
What would be the preference - front one way diff, or one way layshaft and why? What are the differences in the characteristics of the car?
|

Hello!! Can anyone reccomend me setup for wet astroturf track, and cold weather (about 5 degrees C)????
|
Indoor setup minispike-slicks...
In Norway we drive with slicks at our carpets (yello minispike slicks).(touring/m-chassis drives the same day).
The grip is medium-to-high, does enyone have a setup for the cat sx with slicks?? Thanks. Stig |
Bury Metro
Hi, does anybody have any setup tips/sheets, from bury indoors. I struggled with the CAT SX it felt very slippy (perhaps thats the 5.5T X12?)
Any ideas for shock oils and what hole piston? Weight or not?, I had centrally mounted 110g strip fitted from racing outdoors. Cheers for any help:D |
we had no weight underneath the chassis at all,a 5.5 was way to much and caused us loads of problems 6.5 or even 7.5 is fine.other than that pretty much std set up as already mentioned, and for some reason new tyres seemed better than worn this time,
|
Tyson i did get your pm, apologies for the delay in reply! Ill post my TQ setup later tonight.
Si |
Nice one cheers Si, and thanks Big Red for the advice going to ditch the 5.5;)

Anti Squat Washers - 0mm Rear, 3.5mm Front (rear hole 4mm higher on rear gearbox housing than standard)
si does that mean you were running pro squat? |
No, what Simon means is the front hole has been drilled 4mm higher than the standard hole so you run no washers under the rear mount and all the adjustment for anti squat is then made on the front. If you had 4mm of washers on the front you would have zero anti squat so with 3.5 mm the car has .65 anti squat, if that makes sense. If you remember I think I showed you at RHR, if you take a look at the report for the national there is a picture of Grants car with it on. The idea is about trying to raise the pin or lower the diff height.
|
right i was just a little confused in si's setup it said (rear hole 4mm higher on rear gearbox housing than standard)
|
Yeah, my bad. I know what i meant lol
|
no probs Si, i thought you had tried something random i hadn't heard about lol
|
Thought you might have tried that mod by now.
|
hmm not yet we have run the wishbones high all year as you no, but havent gone that far up yet,how much higher does it make the wishbones over std, dont say 4mm lol
|
It’s as high as no spacers on the rear, so as I said be for all adjustment is at the front keeping the pin as high as possible.
One team member has drilled both holes 4mm higher say’s its very good with zero anti squat. |
Is 2 hole rear pistons drilled to 55 the norm now? I have using 3 hole in the rear
55 is just under 1.3mm isn't it?? |
3 hole 54 rear, 3 hole 55 front.
|
At the risk of being a touch Anal - 55 = 1.3208mm - according to this handy chart I have here!! 54 = 1.397 just for reference!

Play around and see what your thoughts are, but if you do run weight or alot of it, Grants shocks are setup for that. Si |
Thanks Matt and Mossy, I'm running the car indoors with no weight so I'll
give your shock set up a go Mossy Cheers for the advice :D |

Just setting up for this weekend, i noticed that you used 2 hole for rear drilled to 55's but the hole is already that size in the 2 hole pistons. When i built the shocks it felt over damped at the back with 30wt oil compared with the front (3hole drilled 55's with 35wt). Could you shed any light just a little confused i thought the back should be lighter than the front:confused: Cheers |
Im sure someone will post but im pretty sure that the standard holes are not 55, they are smaller. The backend shouldnt feel over damped, infact mine normally feels quite light. Im not going to be there this weekend so cant really show you, but i definately have this setup in the rear and have used it all winter.

If you are running the pin higher at the rear, with the wishbones level, surely this is effectively lowering the car? e.g. the chassis will be lower to the ground than with the pin at its normal mounting point. Paul |
