I'm just down road from you Northy @ Pickering showground, call in and brighten up my day....

Jim

Is this that RAC Rally thing that Whittle was supposed to organising a day out for?!?

Northy 02-11-2006 01:04 PM

I was just thinking the same! :o

G

WHITTLER555 02-11-2006 04:23 PM

Nope! The rally Jim is servicing on is the Malton forest stages.

I will organise the trip out at the Batley Regional which is the week before the rally.

The stages I intend to go and see are on Saturday 18th November.

There are 74 classic cars entered so far which is twice as many as last year.

Unfortunately they are going to charge £10.00 per person in Dalby forest and £5.00 per person at Croft if we try and fit a lot of rally action in.

More info can be found at http://www.rogeralbertclarkrally.co.uk/

Look at the 2006 drop down for details.:D

Stu 02-11-2006 05:06 PM

Can they really demamd that yoy pay to get into Dalby Forest? Think back to Gisburn Forest where it was £5 for the car at the 'spectator' entrance, but we just parked at the picnic site and walked in.
There must be public rights of way into Dalby?

Stu 02-11-2006 10:46 PM

Sprouts

Stu 02-11-2006 10:47 PM

Chris Long is now booked in with the hot-dog.

Chrislong 02-11-2006 10:51 PM

I love that sprout game! AWESOME! :D

WHITTLER555 02-11-2006 10:56 PM

They can try and charge what they want, we need an OS map of the area so we can see if there are any sneaky ways in to Dalby.

Have you got one as that is over Aidensfield way is it not??

Stu 03-11-2006 01:19 PM

Landranger 94 - yes I have that map. Need a stage diagram for Dalby to plan a route in.

I like the sprout game - if you smash em fast enough the ducks fall off the wall - it's ace.
We are having the family round to ours on Chrismas day this year. I'm gonna' put the laptop on the dinner table for some sprout bashing crazy madness!

WHITTLER555 03-11-2006 04:28 PM

Stu, are you gonig to the Aces, if so who's driving?

WHITTLER555 03-11-2006 04:30 PM

BTW, is it possible to attach a Quick Time file on here as I have some good footage taken on my camera last night of the mad 1/18th track we constucted.

Basically involved big ramps onto and off the stage!

Stu 03-11-2006 10:20 PM

Don't know about the tecki stuff but the ramp sounds V-cool. I'll drive in't 'scort. Just watched davinci dode - was good, I thought it was fairly close the book.

WHITTLER555 03-11-2006 11:08 PM

OK, what time are you picking me up and is Carrie going? I thought Da Vinci code film was a bit weird as they changed the ending of the film versus the book??

Is it tommorrow you are round at your mum and dads? Best stay off the hard stuff if your driving, we are supposed to be there for 8.00am!:o

WHITTLER555 04-11-2006 11:05 AM

Stu, have you realised that the first Veteran car race in York on Saturday 25th November is the same night Alex and Carrie are going to Leeds on Jen's hen do?

Hmmmmmm!

Stu 04-11-2006 02:19 PM

Hmmm indeed.
Pick you up at 6.00, arrrg, beer only for me tonight I think.
Carrie's not going.
Gonna run the XX tomorrow, just fot laugh.

Stu 04-11-2006 02:23 PM

Actually it would make sense to run the RC10. Might put that 13 quad in it.

WHITTLER555 04-11-2006 02:35 PM

If you are running your RC10 I will take mine as well. It might be therefore worth asking not to be in the top heat, don't want to upset anyone when their flimsy plastic chassis inevitably break when they hit a gold tub!:D

Col 04-11-2006 02:53 PM

Yeti Olympics

Stu 04-11-2006 03:19 PM

That's ace, the snawball/orca/pingu one took me a few goes to figure out but I'm on it now.

The XX is ready to go, just needs cells putting in.
The RC10 needs a wing/wing wire and body-post mounting screws (the big c/sunk ones), neither of which I have, .
Shame Jimmy'll not be there for more reto pics.

Northy 04-11-2006 04:36 PM

If the ProCat runs tonight it'll be a miracle! Still not ready.

Perhaps Jim will fix it for me?

G

Northy 04-11-2006 11:45 PM

Yeah, it ran! Was a mission keeping it running all night.

It begged for more power (had a 16 x 2 in it) so dropped in a 11 x 2! I seriously think the 20 turns will be a bit slow, but atleast they'll be the same.

Had great fun, also ran Jims RC10 stealth in the first round as mine wasn't ready. Jim ran his Optima most of the night.

How did we do? We from 4 heats of 4wd modified, Jim lined up 5th and me 7th in the A main! Don't know where we finished, I converted mine to super short wheelbase when all the crash back bands broke about a minute into the final, but it still kept running!

Most fun I've had in ages, bring on the championship!

G

Stu 05-11-2006 08:52 PM

The RC10 action at the ACES was s tale if two different gearboxes, the 6-gear versus the Stealth.
The 6 Gear on my car melted the diff/spur gear as soon as I tried running a modified motor, with a 19 in it was fine.
Mr W's Stealth was very cometetive, running a 10x2 with no bother.

G - you say the 20's will be slow, yes I aggree, mine with the 19 was slow but it will be the only way that all 1985-1990 cars will run reliably, and as you say we will all be in the same boat.

It's gonna be alot of fun. You and Jim are getting well-too serious about it.....

maybe some of you will be interested in this?

jimmy 09-11-2006 01:41 PM

Looks nice does that - the shell looks like it doesnt fit that car, I mean its newer. The chassis looks like the original yz870c/yz10 from 1988, the shell looks 90's

Chrislong 09-11-2006 01:55 PM

I am still waiting for my puppy to arrive :(

jimmy 09-11-2006 02:00 PM

Theres no way some of these old cars will handle more than that HPI motor reliably. and whats the point - build a smaller track and it will feel even faster.

Theres no way I want to crash my cars at high speed, no parts!

P_B 09-11-2006 02:31 PM

Anyone else using Batley regional as a shakedown/practice? Can't make it to the first Vintage round and have an urge to run the Cobra in anger/comedy/futility.

super__dan 09-11-2006 06:00 PM

Does a cobra qualify for vintage? I'm sure it's way later than 1990???

Stu 09-11-2006 07:01 PM

A cobra is in the spirit of the event.
There is nothing on a cobra that is technology from the 90's, it's essentially an old simple design, point being it was out of date when it was new in 1992.
Chris' Hot-Dog, the RC10 Stealth's, my JRX or G's pro-cat may have been sold in the very early 90's but the basic design is 80's.

The oringinal concept was no XX's, B2's, Cat-2000's, XX4's, Lasers, and such which are all proper 90's cars, people (inluding me) are pushing the pre-90 thing with borderline cars but this was always gonna happen.

Cockerill 09-11-2006 07:08 PM

How about a xx4 :D

jimmy 09-11-2006 07:10 PM

20 turn sealed motor would barely get all those cogs and belts going, im sure it would be allowed :p

The Cobra is borderline, yes, but I had one in the cupboard and asked Uncle Stu if I could play nicely. As can be read above, he was gracious enough to agree on the basis that the dated launch design overrides the relative youth of the car.

However, let it be known that I'll gladly step down if anyone is scared of having their ass handed to them by Leicester's finest buggy. (hint: ain't gonna happen!)

Nice looking ride stu:)

Have either you or Damo got a set of Vintage Losi rims... I've only gone and got a JRX:D

Unfortunatly it ain't got no rims:(

Have a dig about and see what you've got.

Jim

super__dan 09-11-2006 07:56 PM

Does that mean you defo have a spare RC10 for me Jim??? :)

Stu 09-11-2006 08:03 PM

I have some spare rims. The fronts are 2.2's but the rears are 2's, authentic but awquard for tyres, hence the XX rears on the car in the pic.
I assume you'll be racin' this weekend, I still owe ya some dosh!

Did you get the blue & white one from france ofat'bay?

Chrislong 10-11-2006 02:18 PM

My puppy has arrived, im not sure if it is a mongrel or a runt. Although it looks like it has been built and used once at the most, very dusty.

Instruction manual a bit battered, it says "Hot Dog 4" on the cover.

It has some odd springs on (Orange front and red rear) which are too long for the shocks. The front diff doesn't operate, feels like it has no balls and has been tightened so it has limited drive to the front wheels.

I could do with a new body, undertray, shock springs, front bumper and some MX4 wheels, can anybody help???? Jimmy? please?

Stu 10-11-2006 02:46 PM

Sounds like if you can sort the problems the lack of use on the parts will make it a good-un.
None of the parts that are there can be badgered.
