did you get any car counts for 2WD, that would be interesting. |
Well done Oswestry team, best event you have put on to date, although from our point of view everything went pear shaped with the racing, plus my exhaust fell off on the way home!!
Top laugh on Sat night at the quiz, especially Daz Horsman & Graham Hunter making tits of themselves.... quality Barry |

On that point you could also say the x-factory is technically losi so with 39 cars they beat AE :p |
Quote:
so looks like your counts a little out .. |
2WD Breakdown (118 running)
Associated B4: 73 X Factory X6: 19 Losi: 14 (CR and BK combined because they all look the same to me) Atomic Carbon S2: 10 Kyosho RB5: 2 Total Team Associated domination! |

A |
That would make 121 cars Ash, not criticising you, just pointing it out.
It's quite nice to see how many of each car are been used, 14 different cars in total and 8 different cars in the A in 4wd. |
Are we going to see the magic 10 different cars in a 4wd national A this year:o
|
We were tallying them up whilst still handing out bugs, so a minor error may have crept in.. please dont report us to the national office for statistics! :p

tricky swopped from xxx4 to xx4 for the finals so there the extra car |
i know y the counts are out. its cos ash added that xx4 he didnt take the xxx4 out.
|
PICS
|
Yea tricky run his xx4 which meant it was an extra car.
To tell you the truth i was really suprissed there where so many xx4's left out there. I was also exspecting more 501x's and preds. A |

Not quite so much interest in the X5 after the weekend but one or two less XX4's may be seen dotted around now in favour of an X5!! :eh?: |

Got so burnt building the jumps on Thursday that I haven't slept since & was in agony all weekend so couldn't actually race. Looks like Gremlins about to hatch from my back! Not all bad though as the doctor wrote a sick note this morning for me to be off work for at least another week. :) |
I had fun yesterday, and it was yet again, a well run meeting. Well done all.
But I thought the jumps were a bit hit and miss, for us 'less experience' off roaders. The tripple wasn't too bad, but the jump under the rostrum was difficult to get right as the down ramp was higher than it was long, so made it difficult to land on consistently. Eventually I decided to land on top and drive off, but even then, you somtimes 'dug in' and ended up on your roof. I also thought the track was a tad large and it took marshals a long time to get to your car. And because the air was so big on the tripple, marshalls wouldn't go near it unless there were no cars coming, which cost you a lot of time...even if it wasn't your fault. Other than that, great job and smoooothly run. Well done to Mr Stafford for the double win. |
Great meeting, I must say that I found the table top a real challenge to judge on the Sunday (over jump and flat land = stop ...... under jump and clip the top and on your roof ) ...... only thing that proves is I need more jumping practice!!!
Yes, definately a ZX5-SP in there which was awesome all Sunday ..... just not well driven. |
Congratulations Ellis, you are a superstar! :D
X-Factory cars aren't too shabby either... |
Enjoyed the atmosphere of the weekend even though I was there for just the 4wd.
We finally got the weather sorted too which was a bonus. Didn't like the track at all, no faulting the effort put in, but it was shocking for me. Bring on the next one in Millzy country! |
Yeh i forgot too, that I nearly hit Adam Skelding in the head off the jump infront of rostrum. (Sorry Adam)
I saw a car roll and Adam ran out, so I went wide on the jump to give him space and ofcause have to commit early for the jump - but Adam saw me and stayed wide thinking he'd be out of my way, and nothing I could do as I was midflight, its just very lucky that he moves so well. If there was more thought put into downslopes, then there would be no car to marshall in the first place. Im in no way slating you guys tho, im 100% impressed with effort (some of that %age goes to Mcgee tho ;)). Would be happy to return in 2009!!!! (Where we can win the quiz again - you really need to make it harder tho ) |

Whoever booked the weather - great job. Whoever built the track obviously took on board things said after previous events and I'm sure will do so again - great job. All the club/region members who pitched in to keep things running so smoothly - great job. Meetings this good almost make me want to pick up the sticks again!
I'm sure Jimmy and Stu will have some ace pics, am fairly pleased with mine but took loads and can't be arsed going through them all right now. Still, to keep you going there's a quick 'n dirty event gallery up on Photobucket (here) and I'll perhaps stick a few more there later in the week. Apologies to the bulk of competitors as these are largely 'the usual suspects', will try and watch more racing next time! http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/a...8/IMGP0350.jpg http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/a...8/IMGP0185.jpg http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/a...8/IMGP0149.jpg http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/a...8/IMGP0270.jpg http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/a...8/IMGP0193.jpg http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/a...8/IMGP0486.jpg http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/a...8/IMGP0545.jpg http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/a...8/IMGP0401.jpg Racers who want the large version, PM me. |

Echoing everone else's words - Big E was superb all weekend and the Organisers did a fantastic job. Had a load of fun all weekend. Respect to Danny McGee - Not wishing to detract at all from the superb job that the organisers had done in preparing the track, It was refreshing to see that a top driver was prepared to put a lot of effort in and not just comment adversely on someone else's work. His 2x Afinals were (IMO) justifed rewards for his sweat and efforts in (re) cutting the track on Friday evening. Well done to everyone who contributed to Oz-fest '08 - a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes from the club organisers and the BRCA officials which often goes unnoticed - without this work, we'd all have nowhere to race so big thanks to you all. |
Where did he get the lawnmower from?
I'm sure G wouldn't have brought one in the caravan surely.:p  |

People should be aware that when Jimmy posts his report there will be some groundbreaking stuff in it, stuff the likes of which not even God has seen before.
