Lots of people have Mini pins already - unless the control tyres are heavily discounted, it seems an unnecessary additional expense to force people to run a particular tyre, especially when it is not something that most folk will have in their pit box already...

i know what your saying,iv got 3 sets of used pins, thing is though they would probably only last one meeting, the dboots last alot longer(possibly twice as long if not more)after the initial monster grip:thumbsup:......

It's your meeting and your rules. And you say dBoot control tyres. So dBoots it is - simples!

You were the first to make the comment so you got quoted and it was nothing personal matey... :p

The fact that the tyres can be used throughout the series means they won't go to waste like buying for a one off meeting too.

I think having a control brand gives racers a far better choice of patterns and compounds than other fixed compound/pattern tyre series and as there is a discount offered to series competitors it should save the drivers a few squids in the long run.

The dBoots guys have been great from the start with support and there has been a lot of testing done before the decision was finalised to make sure that the concept was good for everyone, the tyres work and there is already good feedback from those that have been testing on club nights.

The 2WD front tyre being open rules is a good idea too and allows fine tuning to personal preference... so half the pitbox tyre collection could be used!

It's just the fact everyone is used to ripping open a different branded packet during the winter season!

The A1 Racing Club crew have done a fantastic job of building the track/venue and the series is going to be a great addition to the winter racing calendar.

on a club night is it controlled aswel? if not i can pop over some nights

You will get 2 meetings out of the controlled tyre Russ so i don’t think at £3.5 a meeting its really going to break the bank!

Any Dboots tyre on the driven axle for buggys.

No control tyre for SCT's.

Also in answer to a post above we DO NOT run a control tyre for Tuesday evening club racing. It is just that club racing :D

Cheers

Chris

I've found a set of 0a d boots for 4wd I got wen got car off oz so sweet I can make 2 rounds forgot I had them

Adam Skelding 11-11-2011 08:48 AM

Hi.
I came up to the track for a full day a while ago and got 40 minutes running out of a set of dBoots A compound when the track was mostly hessian and the carpet upside down.
I then ran at the meeting 2 Tuesday's ago when the green carpet was down. I ran a new set to see what the difference was. There's more grip on the new surface than the old and the tyre wear is much less. After 2 5 minute practices and 3 rounds, they are still fine and being honest I would put them on the car for the first round.

Chris Doughty ran Terrabytes on his DEX210 and had no issues with grip through the same meeting, I saw a couple of people on Multibytes too, but my gut feeling would be that the Terrabyte will be the faster tyre.

My 4wd Set-up is here:

Chris's 2wd Set-up is here:

Cheers for the extra info Adam

To the A1 Team:

Any idea when the online booking in will be available on your website?

Adam Skelding 11-11-2011 12:24 PM

In all honesty, I'd probably put a slightly harder insert or 'Fuller' in the front than the rear to calm the car down a little on the set-up I had.

Or I would go up on diff oils..

Hi Ian

I have confirmed your entry, and you should now have received a voucher code to get your tyres?

Cheers

Chris

/tobys 11-11-2011 12:45 PM

Do we redeem the voucher for tyres on the day or is the voucher valid at any dBoots stockist?

Now that would be a logistical nightmare!! I thought we where pushing the boundaries a little doing it this way.

Sorry guys the voucher is only valid on www.rcdisco.com and trackside.

Cheers
