Doing it full time, I like to try to work smarter, not harder...so whatever method it takes to do that is best.

I tend to use the vinyl cutter for lettering only. I think some designs I do with liquid mask would be impossible for me to do with a vinyl cut design.

Also, I think you are able to be a bit more liberal with the paint when using liquid mask. Over doing it with paint on vinyl I find is easier to create an uncrisp edge.

As said, the main thing is to work smarter not harder....so whatever is needed to acheive that is the route I will try to take. :)

Jon

Some of your 'harder & smarters' are mixed up ;)

I totally agree though - vinyl is great if the design suits - and you have the time to do everything.

I still find liquid mask far easier and quicker - I'm just playing with my new toys ;)

That's what working hard does to ya

Edited now ;)

Looking good Grason.

The Finnisher is a grower (shape etc) might get another myself ;)

What's on the windows ?

AndyG 21-07-2012 03:39 PM

just the masking that came with the shells mate... I leave it on for a couple of days before I Plastikote it.

Love the 210 Finnisher .... not so sure about the 410 one.

Sk3tch 23-07-2012 05:57 AM

Very clean work!

back at it with a nice simple job for Chris Hirst of Batley Buggy Club fame ...

ignore the black lines, they're cutting guidelines on the protective film...

and ...

...window masks still on, opportunity still exists to trim off the windows if the customer so desires ! (but was asked not to!)

Chris' old shell in background as a guideline for me.

they look great buddy. always wanted to get a proper pumpkin carving tool and have a go.

AndyG 31-10-2012 08:55 PM

Pretty sure you've already got one Jon ... Your scalpel !

Got some templates of the net, cut them with the scalpel to make stencils and then sprayed createx through the stencil onto the pumpkin as a cutting guide. Again for the scalpel.

Got a right frickin' headache now!!!!

All look great Andy :)

Paul - Schumacher gear is dodgy enough without you letting it rust in the snow - tut tut....

Wardy the Saint 15-01-2013 08:35 PM

Quick question to you guys using vinyl cutters, I have just purchased a cutter to help me doing some shells, you mention in an earlier post using a vinyl mask, could you tell me what it is called and were I could get some from.
