Very nice Dave, many thats come chunky wire!

What kind of run times are you getting?? Is that a 1800kv Tekin??

DaveTheRave 21-02-2012 06:48 AM

I've only given it one proper run and it was just over 7.1v on each 2s pack when I switched it off after 20 minutes. So I might have got another minute or two out of it before the cut off.

I used 8AWG wire just to make it look a bit meatier, I don't think you need that lower guage though as the Tekin 2050 motor came with 12AWG so I guess that is plenty chunky enough.

Welcome to the Forum Dom, did you shrink some Moto Cross tyres for your buggy. They're proper hard core aren't they ?

@ Dave the rave - looking really nice mate. I'll have your shell done soon, will be a bit brighter than that one

DomCharlton 21-02-2012 10:50 PM

They are Nanda block tyres (these thing does get bashed too. :P )
Very cheap and work incredibly on grass, mud or what have you rubbish on a track though, very hard wearing too. :)

I've got a set of mini spikes on it for the track.
These are them if anyones interested?

Never seen tyres like that, quite impressed actually. Would love to see how they go on the track !

No shell on pics ?

Kurtje 24-02-2012 07:54 AM

@Mheadling Yes it's just a hobbywing copy that I got at a very nice price :) Love the speedy, for the price it's great ...

@Eyeayen Thanks :) It's painted by an good friend of me. At the moment he's painting a Bulldog body for my MBX6R and the Durango DEX210 body.

Some attempts to simplify my Snake. A special bracket for the servo/esc is in process.

Everything in place...

Even if this mod did shave some weight and lowered the cg, the biggest advantage is in my eyes the new clean layout. And not to mention the shorter motor cables.
And yes, its tight between the front driveshaft and the steering link. But no touch.
The last piece of the bracket that is visible is for the transponder.

More like an 1/10.... the way it should be...

Finally under the "magic" 3500g. +200g off. There is more weight to shave... And in important areas.

Very clean work, your mod is better than both 811 and dex408 original layouts........ Very nice balanced CAR!!!

Knitter 02-03-2012 05:18 AM

Thx.
Yes it looks promising. Lets see if it is.....:)

Converted a new Xray 808 '09. Really hard to do this as I wanted to run the longer Tekin Truggy T8 2000kv and 6s these 3s packs are big, 150x50mm trays were needed leaving no room for error.

Great looking buggy....but isn't placing the esc on top of the servo counterproductive for heat dissipation? You are a running a hi voltage setup and ideally the servo should have a bit more space to breathe (assuming it also has it's own heatsink). Also, if you have used adhesive to attach the esc this may come off in the heat?

This is all theoretical of course, but just giving my thoughts!
