Hello everyone.. At last my car is finished ..
I built the car. Robin from Steve Webb models in Frodsham undertook the electrical instalation for me with an outstanding result - it is an extremely neat installation. Terry Atkinson did a fantastic job of spraying the shell for me. Thanks also to Jimmy for all the advice and help that you have given to me. Thanks again.. Carl Hughes  |

Hi there new time poster here on this great site :) anyway here's my attempt at installing the electrics on my 501x, at first the receiver and antenna were at the front of the motor but I was getting severe glitching similar to the problem described back in page 2 (could be the fact that Im still using AM!). Having the receiver and antenna at the back of the motor somehow helped remove most of the glitching :)

Some nice tidy 501's there! I have just put a losi b/l esc in mine behind the motor so I can access the pinon etc for easy gear changes, I had to heat gun the 501 shell and push it out to clear the fan.
I have ordered a Yokomo Bx shell to try and give me some more room, I know its not right but its function over form! |
with the tekin rspro i can change the pinion easily because the esc is too small and i have a fan before that I can easily remove.
the esc behind the motor is risky for me ,for heat..but i never try this configuration |
My Novak GTB fits in nicely. I bought a smaller servo (KO PDS 2413) for £55. This gives alot more space and allowed me to add another power cap which keeps everything nice and cool...

My Ezrun 5.5 brushless has arrived, but I've spent the best part of two evenings trying to work out how to install it.
Its quite easy to fit it opposite the motor, however the issue would be that I wont be able to change the motor pinion easily. Has anyone tied Velcro for their Escs? or will that have too much movement or possibly separate if it crashes? Its been ages since I've raced buggies, so it will be safe to say that it probably will crash a fair but when I go to the next indoors bury meeting ;) |
Been a while since I've been on here.
Here's mine> Tekin R1 Pro ESC, 362 BL Motor, Stock 15 tooth pinon, stock 91 spur Gonna get it dirty and race it for the first time this weekend Cant wait. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...501xWCE003.jpg |

So do you velcro the esc's down so you can change the pinion?
|
Do not use Velcro as the speedo will wobble about way too much. Just use a really good servo tape. I favour no nails double sided tape that you can buy from b and q etc on a roll for about 4 quid. Its clear strong and when you remove it it comes away in one piece and leaves no residue!
Dont worry about gettin to your Pinion so much it is rare you have to change it. On the occasions you do just change the servo tape. Ill give you some to try at bury if you like. If you need any advise on gear ratios etc just let me know i would be glad to help. steve |
