Lee,

Doughty runs the Sphere for he is a tart lol

And yes, the Mongoose comes in 13.5, 10.5 and 8.5 flavours. 13.5 is my pick of the pops for a 'normal' sized micro track. 10.5 for anything bigger. 8.5 if your mad.

Lee 03-11-2008 01:15 PM

I am also in the blue stable though, i dislike orange smoke :woot:

Do LRP do equivelant motors

jim76 03-11-2008 01:21 PM

not yet, only a sensorless version

the basic sphere will fit in, not the one with big heatsink and fan.

Chris Doughty 03-11-2008 01:42 PM

here is the dialled setup...

LRP Shark 18 'Monster' Factory Team - then take the rear roll bar off
Buggy Body
LRP VTEC 35 shore foam tires ('front' 26mm wide ones)
LRP VTEC 1800 LiPo
LRP 'servo hold down' plate
10th scale servo, I use a 'low profile' one.
XRAY M18 servo saver
Deans Connectors

I actually use a novak 8.5, and she is silly quick  but 10.5 is probably your best bet.
an LRP blue heatsink to side the orange logo on the motor :P

the Sphere TC will fit, but without the fan, but cutting the fan off will void warrenty. you have to mount it fairly square on the top place to get the heatsink under the main bulk of the cockpit

Lee 03-11-2008 01:46 PM

CD, are you doing the remaining rounds?

Chris Doughty 03-11-2008 01:51 PM

unsure to be honest, if it was just down to the fact that if I 'wanted' to do them or not, it would be 100% fully in. but there are other external factors involved...

I think you would love it Lee, its light hearted racing with full competition on the track, and the odd occasion to knob around a pull a wall-tap or backflip or 2

if you have any questions getting your gear together for it Lee let me know, I will point you in the right general direction

Lee 03-11-2008 02:00 PM

Cheers Chris,

so far i have seen gecko, Lrp and also long chris looked like he was on carpet dragons.

What is the best tyre or does it vary depending on the venue

frogger 03-11-2008 02:05 PM

Most people use 10th touring car foams of the 35 shore variety (Gecko, LRP, GRP, Enetti, etc.) and if there are many slippery sections then Schumacher Rally Blocks in yellow on touring car rims.

c0sie 03-11-2008 02:06 PM

Doughty, did you ever try those (what looked like) PIT Intermediates?

Chris Doughty 03-11-2008 02:11 PM

I have tried the LRP VTEC rubber tires and they don't really work on carpet tracks. good fun drifting around the place though :D
the 'wet' tires were the LRP Dunlop tires for wet TC tracks, still not great.

LRP VTEC foams are pretty dialled, but as has been said before, the Schumacher Rally Block in Yellow seems to be the alternative for a most 10th scale indoor off-road type track (with lots of slippy floor)

Best servo you can buy and it's available from Trakpower: Ino-Lab HG-D261HB

It has carbonite gears and has withstood significant abuse yesterday at Wycombe combined with my XRay M18 micro servo saver.

All I can say is this thing is rediculously quick and in my opinion probably the best servo you can run in one of these cars.

Digital coreless 0.06s speed has to been seen to be believed!

Best of all these puppies only sell for £35-£39 and can be bought from your LHS. They also do replacement gear sets and covers if needed.

Lee, will bring the Shark with me to York on Sunday - if you bring pen and paper then we'll soon have a list of what you need.

As for servo, Trakpower will soon be doing one called "Inolab" which is truly awesome. I have one but its not in the car yet, I saw one in use yesterday and fast is not the word, its fcuking nuts - and its small.

I am finding with a big servo, that it is not close enough to the centre of the car and the amount the servo needs to move to the left is less than it moves to the right - so it is unbalanced. A smaller servo will be far better. Will show you what I mean at York. CD, you found the same? Its the Ko 2413 I use.

Chris

Chris Doughty 03-11-2008 02:20 PM

Yes, that servo that Carl and Chris are talking about does seem like the bomb!

I am looking into it.

frogger 03-11-2008 02:27 PM

My Ino-Lab servo sit's spot on where it should be and you don't need to trim anything off the servo to make it fit. The servo throw is spot on in the middle and my servo balance is set to 91% each side to get full travel

Trakpower also do a full set of spares for it (gears, cases, etc.)

c0sie 03-11-2008 02:33 PM

Carl,

What servo saver are you using fella?

Chris Doughty 03-11-2008 02:37 PM

he is still using the XRAY M18 one

frogger 03-11-2008 02:41 PM

Yes, it has a Futaba knob on it  and so the XRay M18 servo save goes straight on and doesn't stick out the bottom loads. The servo centres great too.

I know what you are thinking and yes, it should be freakin awesome in your Carisma

jimmy 03-11-2008 02:42 PM

I still dig my Xray M18B to be honest, never broken anything on it, handles great and with the JConcepts buggy shell it looks cooler than the shark I think - not as fat!!!!!

c0sie 03-11-2008 02:44 PM

Already on the case lol
But..where are you guys getting the genuine XRAY servo savers?

ashleyb4 03-11-2008 02:48 PM

go on jimmy go on jimmy.
