indeed lee. I will run in any weather haha. Are slim cars will go better though in the wet because they will slice through the puddles . Josh just tape the shell round to the under tray and blue-tak the receiver wires. Then bluetak the speedo sensor wire and stuff. And you will be sorted:thumbsup:

josh_smaxx 26-04-2008 09:17 AM

I hav read somewhere that booking in starts at 7:30 but could be wrong, im aiming for between 7:40 and 8ish.

Lee 26-04-2008 12:03 PM

It sayshe gates dont open till 8am so i wuln`t get there before then. I would imgine the first heat will be on about 10am:thumbsup:

turbo_brick 26-04-2008 01:02 PM

11am for track building was for today (Saturday)

Gates will be open from about 7.30am ish tomorrow so if you arrive a little early it should be ok, booking in will start from approx 8am.

Practise after that probably in heats

Weather isn't too bad here so far, had one shower this morning, every weather forecast we look at has been different so far, when it's been forecast for rain all day here it's been nice so we've given up looking and are just keeping our fingers crossed!

(Sorry mr turbo_brick isn't available so done my best to clarify for you, any more questions let me know and I'll try and get in touch with him, he's up building the track at the mo -- mrs turbo_brick)

First heat usually starts just after 11am!?!

chris68nufc 26-04-2008 04:09 PM

Just back from the track build. Track has loads of jumps. There is a Table top jump that you have to give big licks to get it right and land on the down ramp in the middle of the track. Straight is very long.Think it could be an idea to gear up a bit! There is a cheeky jump on the start of the straight wich will be interesting. The rostrum is one of the best i have seen bar Holbeach/Teeside when they used the back of a lorry.Very good view from up there. Theres loads of space for pitting and no chance of cars getting stuck if it does rain as you cant drive onto the track area but only a short walk to pitting area. Hope everything goes well tomorrow and the rain keeps away to make racing close for all.Excellent track.

chrispattinson 26-04-2008 04:21 PM

Just got back from track build.

Gear up for a long straight.

Here are comments from Mr. Turbobrick AKA Race director for Jarrow regional:

Gates open at 7:30.
Booking in from 8AM.
Practice to start soon after in heat order for those booked in online, and then seperate timed practice for those booking in Sunday morning, this is to try and control practice.

Round 1 Heat 1 on the line at 10AM.

dave p hall 26-04-2008 04:32 PM

sounds a cracker chris:thumbsup:realy looking forward to this:thumbsup:despite the drive from hull:lol:

Richard Lowe 26-04-2008 04:39 PM

I hope it stays dry, a long straight is the last thing you want with sloppy mud the get through and cars that weigh twice as much as normal thanks to mud stuck to them, thermal city.

Not trying to be negitive, just a warning :)

jimarea51 26-04-2008 04:47 PM

Hi all,

Just noticed that your planning on runing prcatice in heat format, although I think your decision is a good idea in principle, not everyone reads oOple and might not turn up ready to practise in heat format...

Is it stated anywhere in the NE regional section??

Also i think to do this you'd ideally need to post a heat listing for people to ensure threre ready to practice at the appropriate time....

How many rounds of prcatice are we having then??

JIm

thats a good point jim,im taking a charged pack any way:Done round of practice will do me:D

chrispattinson 26-04-2008 05:20 PM

Rich - I hope it stays dry aswell. My Tamiya weighs twice as much as most of these BJ4s anyway, but lets hope there's no sloppy mud! There is a long straight, but there's a lot of infield aswell, long laps!! So the percentage of time spent on the straight will probably be as per normal - if that makes sense.

Jim - good point, but I'd imagine that people will be given enough notice to charge a pack, if they arrive on time. I dont really know any details, I just helped put the ropes down and screw wood together.

turbo_brick 26-04-2008 05:34 PM

Ok another message from me as mr turbo_brick is now at work until after 4am, so I'll try my best to answer as he'll be getting 2 hours sleep max before we run everything tomorrow (so if he looks tired you know why!) therefore you'll have no chance of a reply from him before you set off......

Track straight- well there isn't much we can do about it now really, the weather so far here is cloudy but we haven't had any rain since about 10am, the school field we were told has good drainage. Just have to wait and see I suppose, pray for good weather.

When you come in there will be a practise heats list up for those who are already booked in, we already have the lists, when people come to pay/book in we will advise them of how things are running if required.

How many practise sessions? - depends on how things go on the day, if we get everyones practise started early enough then hopefully we'll get a few rounds in before racing starts. I think for me to say 'there will be 3 practise rounds definately' will be silly as then people will moan at me (and be ignored) if we don't fit them all in. I actually thought everyone charged practise cells in advance (can tell I don't race) but there should be enough time if people get their early enough to charge some, after all the gates are open from 7.30am.

F5 drivers, basically if you're new to it, would expect you to be in the early heats.

Chris I am pleased you like the rostrum because it's cost us a fortune  but I think now it's up it is well worth it, much safer than many I have seen used. Shame you can't be there tomorrow.

Food van lady phoned earlier to confirm, she'll be there hopefully from 8am ish for breakfast  so that's the important bit sorted!! (Because I'm not doing a BBQ this time!)

Right, hope that answers some of your questions, see you all in the morning :eh?:

(mrs) turbo_brick

PS we accept any complaints as long as they're written on the back of a £20 note :D other than that, accept the fact it's not a purpose built track, it's took a lot of work to pull this off, we're all only human and sometimes make mistakes but we've tried our best to make this a good event. Hope you all enjoy the day.

chrispattinson 26-04-2008 06:03 PM

Nice one Mrs Turbobrick, cant wait for tomorrow.

paulc 26-04-2008 06:13 PM

yeah im looking forward to it now and how long is the straight compared to batley longer/shorter  just hope the weather stays fine

see you tomorrow

chrispattinson 26-04-2008 06:19 PM

The straight is about the same as Batley, but there is then a slight sweeper, only 45 degrees or so onto another short straight, which gives the impression of a long straight.

The straight isnt that looooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggg g, Ive seen lnger, I was just mentioning it incase anyone still had their tiny little pinions on from the indoor season.

turbo_brick 26-04-2008 06:27 PM

 No problem ChrisP, you can answer the technical stuff because I have absolutely no idea, well I do know what a pinion is, I think I've counted teeth on those before and how to hold a battery while he solders something on it, bar I think he said (hopefully without burning me in the process :o) but that's about as technical as it gets for me.

Oh and I know how to say 'well we're in Britain so you can expect it to rain at some point' which will no doubt be comment of the day tomorrow  If it rains and the gazebo we're using tomorrow leaks then race control will be diverted to the car!!!

(Oh and did you save me any pizza? :( because mr turbo_brick didn't the meanie!)

(mrs) turbo_brick

Lee 26-04-2008 06:32 PM

Im sure it will b ace!! i cant wait now and its only 15 mins from me:thumbsup:

It sounds like you have all put in a lot of effort, but i think we need some more commitment from (mr) turbo brick, not answering questions at 4am is simply not on:lol:

Should be a good day though, we always have a laugh and abuse lil ben,i found out before i actually have a full set of BB blues that i used at kiddy last week thinking they were greens:lol::thumbdown:

turbo_brick 27-04-2008 02:13 AM

Lee is 3:15 ok, as for answering questions I believe between chris and my better half (as she likes to be called) have answered everything.

I'm now going to try and get a couple of hours sleep, see everyone in the morning.

Peter

Lee 27-04-2008 04:32 PM

Well done to lil ben on winning his 1st Regional!!!!!!!

His car looked the best by a mile and he drove superbly and looked super relaxed, and led home some F1 Factory drivers. Nice one Ben:thumbsup:

josh_smaxx 27-04-2008 04:56 PM

ACE drive Ben, was filming the whole things and you and Ben Riley got really close but you kept your cool and just kept going, good one!

Also, the meeting was well run, very relaxed and weather turned out quite nice in the end. Good effort from all the organisers and the track was AWESOME, loved every part of it.

telboy 27-04-2008 05:53 PM

Have you got the vid uploaded yet josh?

Lee 27-04-2008 05:55 PM

josh_smaxx 27-04-2008 06:02 PM

Im just going through the pics now, i'll put the vid on street fire but it could take all night to load, unless i find a way of cropping it down to go on youtube. Good battle between the Ben's at the beggining before Jemison pulled away. Oh and Ben, i still owe you £2 :woot: lol

rcluke 27-04-2008 06:04 PM

rcluke 27-04-2008 06:08 PM

not bad that josh, only the 3rd time you have drove it right?

why didnt alex start?

he didnt strip the yellow spur did he :eh?:

josh_smaxx 27-04-2008 06:10 PM

I was pretty happy with my result, first time racing competatively, first time on grass ect.

Alex ddint start because his speedo kept cutting out, we havent solved it yet but we suspect its the reciever wire.
