Broke more bits in 2 heats than I did in the last 2 years! I don't think those pipes held in place with thick steel rods like my car

Don't hit them, simples! They are after all barriers not targets. Lol
On a serious note no track is perfect and we have to really try and make the most of what limited opportunities we have. I really enjoyed yesterday and even surprised myself qualifying A3 in 2wd. That in itself was like winning for me.

Absolutely lashed rain for most of the way home too. Trying to get wet gloves off at the toll to give them a poxy 70 cent didn't help the journey either

Good idea, I'll try that, have to make the marshalls do some work though. I think missing the practice sessions earlier was my downfall, pain in the hole going out in a heat for your first time on track you never raced on.

kartstuffer 13-08-2012 12:20 PM

Dont get me wrong the organisers did their best at a track which is clearly not suited to 1/10th.
I stand to be corrected but,as far as i am aware the track should not be constructed from markers which are likely to damage your car ?
I do know that the object is to avoid the track markers but when you hit one that didnt need to be where it was and it snaps your chassis in half something isint right.
With a little refinement it could be sorted ,after all we are not all experts and it is a 1/8th track.!
After all that well done to those who ran the event and were very helpful on the day and are trying to give us something different.

Sv1keith 13-08-2012 12:33 PM

Great track and great experience and a brilliant challenge for a novice driver and on the flip side 4 heats and 3 finals not a single thing broke that is a win for me in its self

+1, agree with all that.

Totally agree....maybe i shouldnt when I had 4 heats and 3 finals and only finished 2 of them though :lol:.
You have to be happy to race at such a fantastic facility with great organisation and the two heats/finals that i did finish were because i slowed down and drove clean....and I also won both so i think that is a lesson well learned for me, slow down to speed up!!

The Doktor 13-08-2012 11:37 PM

I think that the lads doing the organising did a great job in fairness. It was also nice to race on astro outdoors.
But I agree with some of the stuff mentioned above. The track just wasnt suited to 1/10. In one crash I did over 50 euros worth of damage on one of the steel bars holding the track markers down.

h0m3sy 14-08-2012 07:44 AM

Simple answer is to get a 1/8e lads, it's the future ;)

+1  The race director Carel was on the ball all day and took no guff from anyone.

I really enjoyed the meeting..... good turnout, relatively incident free racing, officials ran the meeting well and got us finished just before the rain started...

Rayzerp 12-09-2012 12:06 PM

Me! I have to leave for the airport at 5.30 but if we stick to schedule I should just about get 2 finals in

Mugenextreme 12-09-2012 12:40 PM

I am hoping to go. I just have to see can I get a buggy for the weekend.

ian h 12-09-2012 01:48 PM

You can use my SV2 if you want as I won't be racing.

MiCk B. 13-09-2012 08:54 PM

Who's heading out to Lucan on Friday and / or Saturday for some practice?

(Derek, did you get that email I sent to you about rounds 2 & 3?)

Never saw anything about practice the days before any other round, why have we started now with this event since there was no noticfication about it in the offical notes for the event. Is this dmcc allowing this practice to go ahead?

There was practice on Thursday before the round in the Naul. It was the usual Thursday evening run. (And as far as I know people were out on the Saturday as well.)

So nothing new is starting now. This is something that has happened in previous years as well. So nothing new here.

Official notes, nothing on the RCCAOI webpage about it.

There are much more serious issues that need be address in this years championships, then practice before events.

MiCk B. :-)

Mugenextreme 13-09-2012 10:50 PM

Be nice their Mick. Just asking for a bit of notice from the committee . Hearing it from a third party whos not part of the committee the day before it happens is not really fair to everyone involved.

kartstuffer 13-09-2012 10:59 PM

I assume as its a public park you can go there whenever you want!!! As people did last week.

Legacy555 14-09-2012 08:03 AM

There's no information on the club website or on oople or any emails from the club committee regarding a practice session today or tomorrow.
Not in the calendar either....

If there is to be organised practice by the club for the National Round on Sunday I think that it's only fair that its announced officially to give everyone a chance of attending.

The public park may be open, but access to the track markings and timing equipment is restricted.

kartstuffer 14-09-2012 01:57 PM

I assume if you want to go and practice it`s a case of just driving around where the grass is cut without any markers etc.
If i get a chance i will drop by tonite on my way home ( if i can get away a little earlier still be after 7 though) for 1/2 hour to check the car out as on Sunday the track has to be set up etc. and i won`t get as much time to practice as non club members will.
Nothing official .:)

MiCk B. 14-09-2012 02:02 PM

Yep,

It's nothing official. Would just be using what is there all the time.

MiCk B. :-)

As this will be the last race this year at lucan are all regulars aware that there is an open class on the day where non championship drivers can race , just be there before 10 to enter .
No real info on this anywhere.

Sv1keith 14-09-2012 04:31 PM

What if it's raining on sunday will rd 4 still be running or is there a re run date for it

I dont get this Kartstuffer, an open class has been there for every round run this year. A heat has been made available for every round as stated in the information for each round. I dont remember anyone taking advantage of the offer of running in the open class in the previous rounds but of course i am sure anyone who wants to come down they would be more then welcome to race in a open class heat.

Sort it out lads, all the bitching, shit stirring and in-fighting is what's putting people off travelling South for racing.

Hey Dave you getting a 1/10th again. New venue open soon so we can continue our own fight.
It was good crack last year.

h0m3sy 15-09-2012 06:24 AM

I'm actually racing a 1/10 today in Bangor mate, it was excellent last year, couldn't have been any closer between us. I see you moved up to modified? Don't blame you, young Alan is going well :)

Credit where credit is due to the DMCC. Well done to Dave Bolger and the team for getting the place into tiptop condition. Great racing today

Some good racing even though the weather in the morning was so wet.

So long Lucan I'll miss the grass track and female joggers/walkers, but won't miss the rain and setting up and packing up.

Sv1keith 17-09-2012 06:15 PM

Good day all round alright nice clean racing in each class
