The controlled tyre for the Petit Race will be the new dBoots NanoByte tyre.
A tyre we have been working on specifically for the Euro indoor scene. The tyre has proved really good in testing. They've been run on numerous tracks on the Prima Felt GT carpet. Those who have seen them know how good they are.

Right folks,

As most of you already know the Petit venue has changed. I had the delight of finding out the same way as you via the competitor email. Thanks for that Nicolas!

Thank you to all those that believed we would deliver as we always do, we appreciate your support. We hope to be announcing another event (possibly at area 51!!) over the weekend.

Watch this space!!!

Cheers,

Matt

I'm surprised it was taken out of your hands so abruptly... especially as you were so close to confirming the new venue. I know how much work you and the Silverstone team were putting in to secure an alternative, so I just don't understand why the decision was made by Nicholas to shift it 150 miles away. I can't be the only one that had already made accommodation arrangements can I?

I've cancelled my Petit entry and will be spending a relaxing weekend in the Towcester Travelodge unless an alternative race meeting is organised (please) :)

As the venue Silverstone was waiting confirmation for, was given today!!! We now have a very large venue, has to be paid for!! Now, we can't fill it with clay (before anyone ask's) but!!!

Astro, concrete, grass ??? Large jumps etc... indoors ???

Would people be interested..

I will setup a page for this as ideas would be good ?? need them quick.

2 day meeting or one ??

Answers on a postcard

Hang on so PetitRC have moved the venue even though Silverstone has confirmed the venue - WTF?

I'll speak to a few TORCH crew.

The original post to that had moto arena on it. It has been edited with ardent banner on now

Can people post when they get their refund please. New location makes it too expensive for me.

I got mine a few hours after requesting it

njc11 20-10-2011 09:33 PM

Good news on getting the venue... but what i cant quite get my head round is the fact its been so secret and know one at all has been forth coming in info, especially when you have plenty of european visitors coming who need to make plans etc..

(its been common knowledge for a hell of a long time that MA would be a no no... so why has everything been left till the last minute... this is what it seems like!)

Then as soon as Nicolas announces a change of venue all of a sudden, you have your venue confirmed?? Is it me or what??

If the venue is now confirmed then you can share the location?

I can totally understand Nicolas's decison for changing the venue, as nothing had been confirmed he had to think of others, as everyone especially the overseas visitors need to make plans because as we all know things get more expensive nearer the date and booked up..

I booked my Towcester Travelodge ages ago and got it for £13.50 a night.. bargain!

Im just glad something is now set in stone... i would love to attend your new venue but have already booked and paid for petit and as Ardent is just over an hour away for me its a no brainer for me...

I dont think starting an anti-petit race thread is going to help anyone!

Its Toy Car Racing!

mattybucks 20-10-2011 09:40 PM

It's not an anti-petit race, it's a race meeting for all those who have booked hotels locally who will lose money as the hotels will not issue refunds.

All the other people like myself live locally, and support Silverstone regulary.

Not sure if this is aimed at me nick but I haven't been involved with the organisation of the new Silverstone venues due to family problems.

However I know matt on John were working hard to find venues which they have now done. Matt told everyone to be patient and I'm sure he said somewhere that a venue would be announced this week. As all the Silverstone committee found out the venue had changed along with everyone else today at the same time the venue matt was looking at was confirmed. obviously it's nicolas event and he made the final decision on the venue, wether people think its right or not it was Nicholas decision.

All I know is the venue was about 20 minutes from Silverstone. As for the other meeting being talked about (that's all it is at the minute) the club have a venue we need to use, matt has worked hard to get the venue so makes ence to use it,

Let's hang on a minute.....

Firstly, we (SRCMCC) are not starting any anti Petit race thread. Also the only people who knew what was officially happening to Moto Arena were (Silverstone circuit) who own the facility. And they were the people i myself was dealing with direct, they was 95% sure there would be no issue.
Then 2 weeks ago they emailed to say it was finished (the same day it was announced on TV the Silverstone/tresham college are going to build a motorsports college) on the site which MA sits on. Perhaps that is why they didn't tell us straight away ??? RC event worth £800 or something worth millions!!!

Silverstone club took on the event that was given to MA and have worked very hard to secure a good enough venue. And it was confirmed today... again another multi million pound company who owns it, but they have agreed to support us. So we now have a venue, and rather than letting money go up in smoke, we are looking to do something for the people who have booked hotels/don't want to travel to Ardent etc.. What people decide to do is up to them.

After all it's toy car racing

njc11 20-10-2011 10:03 PM

Paul,

Its not aimed at anyone! im just voiceing what im sure lot of people are thinking...

As ive said its abit of a coincedence...

THe venue you have secured is something that could be massive and certainly somewhere i would like to visit!

Im well aware of all the hard work all you folk put into a meeting and a venue.. ive done it and still doing it, albeit just for the indoor season!

As im sure you were aware Chadderton or Worksop where ready to host the indoor finals... not this time, but maybe next!

Jon your sarcastic digs always make me chuckle lol! :woot:

Hi Nic,

I didn't want to get in to this really, however I was awaiting your input!

This may seem coincidence to you, but please just take my word for it as final that we were asked to keep the venue a secret (people have forgotten what secret means) regarding location and we did just that. After reacting rather aggressively (and getting an earful from the wife!) regarding the news about the change of petit venue, I received a call from my contact 2 hours later saying 'all done' and we're having final walk round tomorrow. We did make this very clear to the people that needed to know and I apologise that you weren't on the list!

Think John has explained about MA, although I'm sure your information is much more accurate

Matt,

As ive just said above.. im only voiceing what alot of people are thinking and talking about.

No digs at anyone... not criticising anyone.. i appreciate all the hard work you lot put in!

Just felt like Nicolas was being targetted when he was put in a very difficult situation.

Cheers

P.S. Moto Arena info has been floating about all over the web..so i think most had seen the writing on the wall ages ago.. i was hopeing they were wrong as i never raced there :( tracks looked awesome!

Sorry, you're right about this, however we were dealing direct with Silverstoane Circuit and you couldn't have possibly known the information we were given up until 2 weeks ago!

Matt,

What ever you and the others do with this venue is bound to be a success.. and it doesnt go unnoticed all that you do either.

You will be rewarded im sure with a successfull meeting which i would imagine will lead to another awesome indoor series which i would hope to attend!

Dangleing carrotts were they??? been there, done that, got the t-shirts mate :(

mekios 20-10-2011 10:51 PM

Coming from Greece for this event. The difference to us is some 100 miles driving a car having the steering wheel on the right on the left lane. Won't harm us much... Ardent here we come!

Welshy40 21-10-2011 05:22 AM

Im considering not going. Bit dissapointed with the way its been handled and that its back there in Ardent.

showtime 21-10-2011 06:15 AM

its a bit of a shame really as the 2 at Maritime were great:thumbsup:

i scratched this one from the calendar at the first hint of an unconfirmed venue:bored:

i guess thats why we've all booked in for the Offroad wars meeting in february instead ;)

Welshy40 24-10-2011 10:52 AM

Ive emailed Nicolas asking for a full refund. Im not too happy that the venue has changed from Silverstione to Ardent at the last minute, which lets face it was not as fantastic as the last event at maritime. Its too far for me to go to. Gutted.

Yep, same here.
I emailed about 3 days ago but havent heard anything back. :(
Has anyone actually been refunded yet?

mikeyscott 24-10-2011 04:47 PM

Yes I have, on Friday.

RobW 25-10-2011 10:49 AM

Just got refund - only asked on Friday so all good:)

Did not have a problem with it being at Ardent as I thought they did a really good job last year but I have non-refundable accommodation at Silverstone so new event there is brilliant.

Sure both events will be successes and if the entries for MK GP are any guide I would not be surprised if both events are full.

Rob

mikeyscott 25-10-2011 12:18 PM

Yup not a very well written email

Cancelled in the subject and Nicolas says, "Event Move to Ardent Racing Raceway". in the content

hotrodchris 25-10-2011 12:49 PM

Sent email to Nicholas last night after looking at all the options just too far to go for a days racing

hazeandfizz 25-10-2011 02:38 PM

Nick,

got my refund within 12 hours, sure it will be fine. You doing the Silverstone event now?
