Was there not going to be more news early this week, well thats what it said on there web last week.

DaveG28 06-02-2008 06:36 PM

Have the people who've preordered had to pay anything??

surfking 06-02-2008 06:38 PM

I went on the list, and ive not been contacted yet

franki 06-02-2008 06:43 PM

I dont belive that they have paid anything yet. When did you go on the list ???

Has any one been contacted yet ???

surfking 06-02-2008 07:27 PM

Havent payed anything yet,not been contacted as of yet but im just waiting for mor info, price, delv, back up,decent pictures for a start, now narrow cars look like the way its going theres been two outhers appear this week already plus the s44/s4 is narrow the choie is growing by the day but when last week they say check there web site this week early and still nothing, im just wanting info.

DaveG28 06-02-2008 08:09 PM

It is a worry, I'm really tempted by the car, and they have come across nicely in emails, but then set against that is the issues around a certain other car during its inception, the fact that as far as I can tell they originally took orders for a release of LAST June, it makes me worry about what is going on.

I thought the only issue they'd have was wqith cvd's but these got delivered a week or so ago now?

surfking 06-02-2008 08:21 PM

Did they take orders since last june,in that case i wont have one by this june i may end up looking at that s44 then, i just dont know why its so hard to get info on this great looking car if its 99.99999999999999999999999999999% ready.

DaveG28 06-02-2008 08:23 PM

When I emailed them they said the first batch would go this/next week, and all others in March, I think there is about 150 on the preorder list?

franki 06-02-2008 08:29 PM

i think its more than 150 bud :o however like anything of this nature people will put there name down just for the info and never buy the car !!! then there will be others that have bought other cars, then some that have other money commitments.

I would think they would be doing very well to sell 80 first off???

However if they sold 150-200 on day one then that would be fab for them.

DaveG28 06-02-2008 11:37 PM

Just hope they ship soon, there is no reason not to now!?

surfking 07-02-2008 05:53 PM

Next monday there will be the news we have been waiting for ! so say on the there web.

Mutant 08-02-2008 12:15 AM

Next monday..... i can picture it....

Aliens land and pick the nose of an old tramp who was laying peacfully under a bridge near paris. He wakes up and gets the shock of his life (the aliens had really long fingers....) In a crazed dash the tramp runs across a nearby motorway and a truck swerves and ends up in the river.

Oh No..... the truck was full of aero's, all the first shipment.....

Just one more week lads.....

woodey 08-02-2008 08:48 AM

Plausible, but here's what's actually going to happen. Next week, towards then end, based on aero's own timeclock, 5 earth days = 1 aero day, we will hear something, maybe through a deep space listening station, that our cars are now reay to ship. Funny cos I thought this was going to be 2 days after the CVD's arrived in which case I would have already built mine! But the tape that they were going to use to package the boxes is defective and has lost it's stick....... but it's ok cos some more tape has been ordered and it will be there within a few days, to quote a frequently heard expression. Then the tape gets lost in the post, and the only company making it gets hit by a meteor leaving us all waiting for the tape factury to be re-built before we can get our cars:lol:

Ok if I had a hat, then I would be more than happy to eat it if my car gets delivered next week!

surfking 08-02-2008 09:57 AM

5 earth days = 1 aero day, Brilliant i cant think of anything better.

Southwell 08-02-2008 10:03 AM

There are always hold ups and problems for smaller companies. When the pred was first rereleased it took forever and a day after when it was supposed to come out, of corse most of us already know this....

Lee Martin 08-02-2008 11:57 AM

yeh i think people need to chill abit...its a nightmare being let down, but hey its happened to every company.. at one point...

lets just keep open minds on this people....dont start taking the piss etc. No one needs that and even if you are thinking it, just talk amongst yourselfs about it.

anyone thats met the team knows how helpful they are.......and know that they would be trying everything to get it released, im sure its as frustrating for them as it is for you guys.

i think the commitment was shown last year....how many teams have you seen travel to different countries to support there bransd at EVERY national???

Lee

Lee 08-02-2008 12:05 PM

It is also in the interest of Aero to get the car out and about, right now they are making no money after god knows how much investment, im sure they would of loved to have released it a few months ago but things didnt go their way

Are you still driving for them Lee? Thought I saw you on their website, but noticed nothing in your signature in your post!?

Unless I have the wrong person completely!?

Chris Doughty 08-02-2008 03:27 PM

Lee was always factory AE and for 2007 when AE didn't have a 4WD he ran for them.

now AE have their B44, he runs that.

DaveG28 08-02-2008 04:41 PM

Cheers for the info, quite reassuring too, as an ex driver he has experience of dealing with them but no vested interest in still being nice, so still singing their praises is a good sign!

surfking 08-02-2008 05:56 PM

I think its more on the lines of lack of infomation on it really, its a good looking bit of kit and i like many outhers are really intrested but,it just seems were being staverd of infomation about it when i think most people just want know where and when, but today a outher manufacture pops up with similar product but with fantastic pictures which i think are more informative than what ive seen sofar from aero.

Big E 08-02-2008 07:46 PM

I must admit a little more info would have been nice from them but then maybe that would have meant it was an even longer wait as they would have been spending there time on the web site and not the car.

I' m sure it will be out very very soon as well, I happen to know a few nice Belgium guys happen to be over here at this moment with a certain production car with which a certain driver is trying it out for the first time:woot:

Not sure who or what it is though

Lee 08-02-2008 07:53 PM

Thats great news E,

So how does it go:lol:

In all seriousness this is very good news and im sure the guys will be back in the office telling people they want their money:thumbsup:

HVAC25000 08-02-2008 07:55 PM

....

Big E 08-02-2008 08:14 PM

No good asking me how it goes, I'm just saying the Aero guys are taking a lot of flack but are working hard at it.

They only have one uk driver as far as I know of, and it's not me, I want a fast car such as X Factory

I know what your saying, it would have been good to seem some pics of the car without the shell??? I know there is 'the news' on Monday and i would hope there are some pics with that they will have to show somthing before people buy it ????????????

Lee 09-02-2008 10:26 AM

I wonder how many people would actually buy it without photos???:eh?:

redscott 09-02-2008 01:41 PM

if the price is right. i would take it.

DaveG28 09-02-2008 02:17 PM

This may seem like a funny question, but unless a LOT more info appears on Monday, or whenever they start selling it, is anyone even sure it will include instructions? or all the parts needed to run it?

How many cars have you seen that didn't come with everything needed or instructions? Only HPI and Kyosho do that. I'm sure Aero is a much better company than them.

DaveG28 09-02-2008 08:03 PM

I'm not trying to be rude to them or anything, they've been great with me over email, and answered loads of my numpty questions, I just would have thought they'd get lots more of the preorders to turn into full orders if they manage to get the info up! I'd normally say Tamiya are bulletproof for this type of thing, but even they with the 501x worlds suggest dremelling and filing various bits of their cars before you can build them these days (steering on the tourers, chassis and belt adjusters on the offroad), so I am preparing to have to do a fair bit of work to get the Aero working when I take delivery!!!

I'm really supportive of what they're doing, but being a small company I imagine its key for them to get as many of the preorder people to pay up as possible!

HVAC25000 09-02-2008 08:31 PM

*Long speech, feel free to ignore if you don't care *

I think the A1 will be too simple to need dremeling and filing. Plus since they're starting basically from scratch, and the car has a molded pan assumedly made to their specifications, they should have been able to get everything right without needing modification after. That's probably what took so long to get it ready, lots of little changes, trial and error, r&d, to make sure it's right the first time.

That and whoever is making a particular part (perhaps whatever they're waiting on) is a slacker and can't meet deadlines. I build and sell a product that is primarily molded, like a car tub is, and I know how bad mold shops can be about meeting deadlines. You tell them you need 100 units in 2 weeks, and you know that they can make 100 units in literally 5-6 hours, so they have plenty of time, but 4 weeks later you still don't have your parts. The same applies to any work that is contacted out, machined parts, molded parts, even whoever you are having print your instructions. The further away they are removed from the product, the less they care about the product. I seriously doubt all these delays are Aero's fault.

It's my experience that smaller companies are better than big ones. TTech was a great company. They designed a great car and had great customer support, best I've ever seen. Same for many other small companies, like TOP Racing and the like. But big companies like Losi, AE, Kyosho, HPI, even Tamiya, WORST customer support I've seen in my life. Bad customer support can translate to so many other things, car quality, design, parts support, etc. If they don't even care about addressing their customers' concerns, there's a good chance they don't care about the quality of their products.

If I had the money, I'd preorder an A1 in an instant without seeing anything more than I've already seen because there's no reason for there to be anything wrong with it. My only concern would be the cost of spare arms/carriers and their availability, as long as they don't cost any more than the average and I could order 4 or so of each, I'd be perfectly happy. I've no problem building a car without a manual :)

Of course, given the money I'd preorder an S500 if you could yet, buy an 501x, , get a mr4bx, and any other car out there (except the b44 because it's just a chinese knockoff bj4)

Lee 09-02-2008 09:10 PM

Good post!!

totally agree

DaveG28 09-02-2008 11:09 PM

That is a good post actually, and probably a good point around explaining why the deadlines have slipped!

In terms of spares by the way, Aero told me in an email they'll be personally at all the Nationals again this year, plus there should be a UK source of parts, I'm just guessing it may be a month or two before the parts are much available (I think not all the kits will be delivered till late March so can't imagine much spares supply before then).

Having said that, I'm a numpty, I could never build a car without a manual, I've managed to muck up several even with a manual!!
