Glad to hear that everyone was happy with the layout of the track. With regards to the big jump i think next time the down slope will be better. (i.e double layered wood all the way on the down slope)
Already looking forward to the next one, especially as now the indoor nats are there. Should have more people interested :D All good Danny |

I thought the track was ace...well I would do wouldn't I? But I think although it was faster than the last one, it did provide you with more overtaking opportunities, which is good. The jump in from of the rostrum was loads better to land but can still be improved on. Maybe boards to cover the whole of the downslope would be better. Good to see the turn out too, Loads more than expected. I had quite a good day, I managed to get the RB5 working well. mid 'c' but a mare of a final, managing to break one of the mega thick atomic carbon shock towers!:wtf: The problem with the marshalling to the right of the rostrum, was that someone kept moving the chair that the marshal should have sat on. We did have some numbers for the marshal chairs but never got round to putting them on. We'll make sure they're done for next time.;) Some of the marshalls did seem a little scared of the job in hand sometimes, no fully sure why, they're only little cars after all. But all in all, a top meeting and top track (thanks to Tom, Dan and Chris too). |

So then Rich, you'll need to move on to the GM/Speed Passion/Orion motor to try and break now then!!!

Hi folks
Can someone let me know the the final positions for both the A finals at the weekend and the cars that they were running if possible please. I know the top 3 for 2wd and the winner for 4wd but other than that i dont know. Would be much appreciated Danny |
2wd
I was Q5, fin 10th with 3 and a half wheels :eh?: think Ellis had a mare in 9th? rob fox 8th? sure others will be on here before long so you could piece it together but tim/muzzy will be posting results on the worksop forum if you can wait.. |
I agree with everyone on here, the track was awesome. I had problems with the main jump and ended up just hopping onto the shortest flat bit. I really liked the set of jumps in the middle.
Danny, i Q'd 6th finished 6th with the Losi, Fabien Simonini was 2nd in 4wd with a 501x. 3 and a half wheels? You dont have much luck in finals do you James :wtf: |
Track was great, I had a great day - it brought back the great memories from days gone by :D
I qualified 6th and finished 6th in 4wd (after my rail slide along the rostrum - which I think Stan helped me to do :p) with the X11  Damian qualified 7th, finished 5th with one of those old elastic band Losi XX4 thing-a-ma bobs :eh?: Only improvement for me would be better run practise. I don't think there was a peg board, and the general shouting out of crystals was all a bit random :( G |
really enjoyed the track and the racing, Sorry to Rich Lowe who i think i took out in the final after being marshalled but well done to Doddy in 4wd and Danny in 2wd who was pretty invincible.
I Qualified 5th in 4wd with the XX4 and didn't finish though not sure who, if anyone dropped out before me. Managed to break a side belt and front belt, a front shock tower and the back of the chassis........nice. |

Did i nail u in the final? Sorry if i did Academy comin thru...... |
When we went up the upslope side by side I knew it would all end in tears :D:D
I ended up doing a rail slide along the front of the rostrum and then re-joined a little after you. No problem at all - a racing incident :p Just watch out next time :D:D:D Maybe your car 'flexed' into mine! :p:p:p G |
the way to get the best marshall is to be in the bottom heat so you get all the top 4wd guys :)
met, jim(jimarea51 i think), who used to own my losi xxx only broke a rearshock tower in quali, but had a mare final, first corner, managed to pull a ballstud out the front bulkhead, then after 4mins clipped the track markings and broke the rear pivot block.... o well... sweet track, hope for another one like that again |

Pred vs XX4 head on ...... er XX4 lost :( |

yeah not good i made and error that put me into the pipe where the Pred was stuck......but i didn't like that shock tower anyway, lol.
I really can't believe how i haven't broken a XX4 in 4 years give or take and then have 4 problems in one meeting. Utter poo but still thought it was a good meeting, track reminded me of the indoor finals at York a few years back. |

I did hear one of the organisers (Tim/Muzzy?) shouting for drivers to get off the rostrum as it was overcrowded during practice, this was a problem in the 'old days' from what I remember. The answer then was to issue practice tickets at booking in, these allow one 5 min practice slot per entry and encourage drivers to get booked in & paid up ASAP, allowing the heats to be finalised quickly The obvious downside to this suggestion is that someone has to be available to police the rostrum; the organisers looked to me to working very hard as it was. |

Can I get some extra points for my tricks?:eh?::p G |
You should ask for an extra place for 'Style'......forget overtaking its how good you look when you crash that matters, lol

I don't know whether your post was aimed at my marshalling in any way, but I will apologise now for not hearing your call when you pulled up near me - I thought you had broken your car. And for the record, I am a touring car driver but make every effort to reach the car before it has finished its 17th barrel roll and try to ensure a swift turn over so to speak. I don't think I could say the same about a few people that I saw - both buggy and TC people alike. I do agree some of the marshalling was bad though, there were often points unmanned which meant that cars would go unnoticed for a few seconds. Personally, I would like to see marshalls be made to stay on their points until relieved like usual and actual points to be clearly marked with race numbers. If somone wants to re-educate me on the intricacies of jumping a 4WD over that mahoosive launch pad at the next event, then I would be very grateful! |
Andrew,
Were you in the middle of the track, by the 3 jumps? In which case no it wasn't aimed at you at all. My run was burned and I had just pulled offline to get some clear track so I could go for that all important fastest lap time (bragging rights). My touring car ref was more for banter than anything. I think everyone agrees that numbered marshal points though are good. |
That was me by the triple yes.
I've seriously been to Nationals this year in TC's and not marshalled a single car all day. Then I pick the triple to marshal by on Sunday and that was a seasons worth of marshalling in one meeting!! :p |
well it'll keep you fit mr twigger.:D
G, ever thought of taking up skate boarding? with all those grinds.:p I'll speak to muzzy, and see about practice. maybe start practice at say 8:00 and have someone stood timing 5 min slots with no more than 10 drivers on the rostrum? And, like said, a peg board. |
I wouldn't mind timing most of practice at the next meeting. It will help people, cos with Lipo, brushless and 2.4 people can be up there for 10/15 mins.

Does anybody have any pics of my car from the weekend that i would be allowed to use for a report that im sending back to Horizon Hobby. Obviously i would give who ever took them all the credit. Its just the report looks a bit daft without a pic or two.
Many Thanks Danny |
ill find on for u may be later tonight,

Hi everyone, many thanks for all your kind comments about the racing sunday, much appreciated, now regarding marshalling we have already sorted numbers to put on seats for marshall positions and the marshalls wont be able to leave their point until they are relieved or instructed to by race control, so that should make life easier.
Also regarding timing practice if Tom and Chris or anyone else are prepared to help out with that then I'm more than happy for that to happen, did look up at 1 point as some of you may remember and saw a few more than 10 practicing so had to make the announcement for only 10 on the rostrum :o Do you think we should give everybody a practice ticket so you only get the 1 practice if you hand in your ticket? As most of you probably saw on sunday we are a little short on numbers to help with the running of practice etc while we are trying to do the booking in and sorting heats, so if people are willing to lend a hand then please shout up as all help is very much appreciated. Thanks to everyone that entered, numbers were good and some top drivers attending once again which is really good, looks like we are starting to make steady steps forward with the club, especially as you heard on sunday when I made the announcement of us holding the Indoor Regional Finals next year, so many thanks for all your support guys, lets keep improving things where we can, and if you see somewhere that we can improve please speak up so we can try and do something about it, as we are there for you guys to have a competitive but enjoyable days racing so that you have a good time and talk about it on the way home :D Also must say a MASSIVE thanks to Danny, Chris, Tom, James and Terry for helping with the set up sat night and designing an AWESOME track, lets hope next track is even better ;) Mark |
Thanks mark, I don't think we need tickets, just as long as we've got someone stood there counting 10 people on the rostrum for 5min intervals...or less. Do you need 5 min to practice?
But i think we need to get leon or someone to knock a peg board together for those that haven't caught onto spektrum yet. lol |
In all honesty, I don't think it is worth doing a ticketed practice.
Some people need to go up for 2 minutes, step down to straighten the servo/set the speedcontrol/adjust car setup, then que up again. Practice is a good time to do this. but then there is no harm in people having several of them if they want..... although on the other hand, if some people are struggling to practice - it may be an idea to give tickets and then priority is given to those with tickets, those without to make up the numbers on the rostrum? I dunno... im confused now :S So long as we can take crystals off people, and limit it to 10 (or perhaps 12 if the rostrom holds it?) and time it to 3 or 4 minutes, then it'll work fine. We don't even need a peg board, just plenty of paper and a pen, as we can write the crystals down for the next practice while a session is running - easy - call time and then quick change. Chris |
you and the club and helpers did a great job Muzzy.
Definatly echo the comments about getting practice more organised. In a 2wd you could go pretty much 10mins poss more if you wanted too. It used to done with raffle tickets a few years back in the off road series there and seemed to work although there may be a big backlog of drivers wanting to practice but as chris and terry say if someone can be there to time it then it would be fine. I think you also only got one practice with your ticket anyway! I would defo be up for the next one if i can make it and im sure with the indoor finals announced there it will continue to get better! |
I didn't really go with the intention of getting any photos, and to be honest I don't like taking photos in such dark conditions. But a couple of people asked so I put some photos up - not many and nothing special! forgive me! :)

Thanks for posting those pics Jimmy, I like the one showing the whole track layout just shows how awesome the track was from that view :D
Cheers Mark |
ooh, one more thing muzzy (or who ever needs to know)
We need more space where the loop goes to the other side of track. Cos if you came out wide off the angled tabletop you could trigger the loop and get a mega fast lap. at one point I had a faster lap time than Mr stafford :o. just thought I'd put it on here if I forgot to say later on. I'm up for some more track building next month if thats ok? |
Cool Meeting ! Agree with all the other points made !
Just one more . I would like to see us start were we used to in the old days near the side door. Basically a run down the straight and a lap. I know this will mean the first lap round will not count and your time only starts when you go past race control. but it will give people a chance to settle down and wont impede anyone when someone gets it wrong on the first corner. We also used to have two lines at the start . And your pit person basicall put your car on the first line if you are off in the first 5 and on the back for the last 5. I had a run wasted due to someone setting off last sat infront off me when i tried to start !!!! Oh and the second thing :D A tape line on the rostrum about a foot back so we all get a better view. |
Good points on the rostrum and the twin strips, but doing nearly a lap before you're counted sounds weird to me. If you bin it on the first lap, surely that's tough?
|
Why
Quote:
Why tough ? --- you havent started yet !!!! just means a few get past you then when you cross the line you start and everyone is already flowing.. Having done rallycross and trugs for the last 3 years were its a rolling start with 2 min warm up I found it hard to get on the pace straight away with the elecys. Plus im getting old now and my thumbs need to warm up a bit !!! :D |
Just do a warm up lap old man!
|
I can see the point in Steve's idea, but the issue I see is that because the 5 minutes start for each car as they pass the loop for lap 1, that it takes say 20 seconds per car to make that pass - and so the last lap after the 5 minutes beep, cars will be passing the loop for a further 20 seconds before they get the finished beep....
Therefore having to extend the race end time to cope, and therefore each race could potentially be as long as 6 minutes in reality - which would make for a longer day. What could be done, is a start line, diagonal to the track perhaps 1/4 of a lap back from the loop. This would mean all 10 cars are in 1 line, and you get a few corners to get into a rythem before passing the loop to start? Chris |

Just start where we used to - and have 2 loops - like we used to!!!
