Last minute thought - when we get there, how do we find this student accommodation lark? Who do we report to?

WHITTLER555 24-03-2008 09:23 PM

Great report Jimmy!

Thanks for the pics of my car.

Tom looks like he was really enjoying himself and did really well to get to the 1/4's:thumbsup:

Mrs oOple 24-03-2008 10:00 PM

Yeah the oOple danceteam warriors did pretty well.
Jim Dixon and Northy both bumped up in their finals, Stu Evans performed very much like a noob, James Helliwell was doing alright until his engine decided to go all bad, but he qualified well. And of course big congratulations to Tom Cockerill who qualified in the 1/8 finals and bumped up into the quarters, very impressive.
And big thanks to all the team for their help throughout the weekend, it's greatly appreciated and all adds to the quality of the race report, and of course made it all the more fun too.

Great event, top organisation, and trophy girls!

glypo 24-03-2008 11:04 PM

Jimmy and Vicky, I gotta say you guys rock. Your race report and photos are the best around, and there were a lot of people there!

Heck, I'm too tired to even finish mine today....

A big well done to you both for your top notch work :)

My original aim was to not be in the bottom finals, which I managed and then some. There was certainly some Noob stuff coming out my thumbs from time to time though.

Met some ace people, Jammin Jay being the best. I could go an all night about Jammin & Jaffa Cakes - he loves them. I think we said we would post him some.

The Drake - he's the man. Very quiet and reserved. Nice lad, but I don't think he really got our sense of humour. Skills on the jumps were proper good.

http://www.northernracer.com/posted/neo2.jpg

Taylor James TQ man - he reminded me of Rich Lowe. He dished out the used tyres for us, what a guy.

http://www.northernracer.com/posted/neo1.jpg

Chad Bradley - they can't take their un-used fuel home on the plane, so it came my way, ACE, keep me going for a bit.

http://www.northernracer.com/posted/neo3.jpg

I'm off to bed now - cos I'm badgered.

jimmy 25-03-2008 12:00 AM

Ace stuff stu, I really enjoyed the meeting - it was ACE. my lips are really dry and cracked from all the cold weather and hurt tho :( Just uploading the gallery from today & then i'll add some more interviews and stuff tomorrow when I get chance. I'm happy with the report we did considering it was all more or less live - and thanks Jason for letting me nick that wireless broadband dongle thing all the time, without it I would have really struggled to keep up my enthusiasm especially on the finals day where I was updating the A final whilst it was still running :) anyway, ace meeting, and yeah Jammin Jay Halsey was (is) the best! awesome guy!

Garry Driffill 25-03-2008 12:23 AM

Awsome pictures jimmy, i noticed a tv crew there which tv station was it for ?

AmiSMB 25-03-2008 07:27 AM

That was Nick Damen and his crew from RC Racing TV. It usually airs on Motors TV.

[email protected] 25-03-2008 08:06 AM

Jimmy and Oople Crew - great coverage over the weekend, much appreciated.

No doubt the biggest race meeting, even bigger than the World Championships in my view -the final was awesome to watch and a shame that three top brits had mechanical issues keeping them out of the top places.

Northy 25-03-2008 08:59 AM

Just AWESOME!

It was the maddest race meeting I have ever done, but I loved it all! :D

Jim and me ended up being a good team for pit stops, so I think we were in the pit lane more than anywhere else all weekend, pitting for Bradders, Tom, James etc... That place is like a bear pit!

Before I went, I just wanted to get through to the finals on the last day, and would have loved to get into the top 100, so 93rd will do me, well happy with that  I was on for another bump up at one point I think (running 3rd in the 32nd's from 14th on the grid) but some spurious driving from others stopped that ;) Not sure I could have handled another 20 mins anyway

Thanks to everyone who help me over the weekend (Jim, Dave, Tom, Jimmy, Vicky, James, Stu, Lion-o, Son of Lion-O to name just a few.....).

Got to meet some really cool people, and catch up with some old friends too.

And, just one more thing, Jammin Jay Halsey is THE MAN :thumbsup:

Bring on 09 ;)

bigred5765 25-03-2008 10:05 AM

are first ever neo
have to agree with what everyone els has said
what a ace meeting, loads of fun, loads of hassle, but more than worth the effort,
would love to do the next, and the next after that, lol
thanks to Stu,Northy tom,and anyone else that helped,
O a big thank to Northy's wheel nut that let Matty continue in his final without it
we would have been lost, even if it was the wrong thread DUH

James 25-03-2008 10:15 AM

Awesome weekend

Track was cool, organisation was really good, ace to see so many foreign drivers come over :D
Phil and neobuggy team put together an amazing world class event and anyone who's never been i reccommend you go and at least watch the next one if its in the UK (or abroad if your that committed)

The oOple danceteam madness didnt take long to get into full swing with midnight raids the first night, breakdancing second night and general and easter cream egg and jaffa-cake madness inbetween. . .

Jim and Vickys report is incredible as ever an despite fears it was getting a bit too random at some stages, looking at it today i think its perfect and catches the atmosphere of the event exactly ;) .. Im sure anyone who couldt make it but who's seen it would get a great flavour of what the event was really like..

Great to see new sponsors emerging like piespeed/toe racing/rc-pineapple and fister theyve had amazing coverage and exposure and perhaps it will encourage some of the big boys to assist at the next report , i already hear already that S-M-D will be sponsoring some of oOples future reports

On another note, the mention of an electric guest class for the next neo sounds awesome, count me in .. ! Tom said he'd want to do it too (pesky nitro engines :wtf::D)

Thanks to everyone who helped me out with pitting, feeding, spares, marshaling etcetc you were all awesome; Northy, Jimmy, Vicky, Jim, Tom, Jamie, Matt, Dave and the team
(and thanks to jason for the 2 bearings ;))

Looking forward to more madness at th indoor finals next week

Pete@BMM 25-03-2008 10:27 AM

Was excellent! Just wished I was racing.

Did any one notice the poster for EMMA-RC and the indoor race at Newark showground for November of this year for 1/8 B and T`s? Any more info on it?

Coverage was excellent Jimmy.

I saw you leave the car park at the same time as me and when I got home you had the final write up on there?!!? You do it in the car?

Pete

jimmy 25-03-2008 10:34 AM

haha, no the final write up was online before I left. I tidied things up slightly and spent an hour or so putting the big gallery online when I got home

:lol::lol::lol:

Tom drove ACE! Only his entine stopped him bumping up again I reccon. He was ALL OVER Dresher in his final, how many can say that eh? ;) He also had some top notch pitting - those guys were just AWESOME :p

I tried Holeshots before Tom, and before he went on started explianing to him how they were better on 90% of the track, but a bit worse in a couple of areas. I then realised it was like trying to teach granny to suck eggs, and all he was ever going to do was just throw the car into every corner and deal with what it did once it happened!:lol::lol:

G

Lee 25-03-2008 11:30 AM

Thats what he does best, i also think its ace, when he is mid crash, when he just gives it max throttle just in case it lands on its wheels:lol:

Northy 25-03-2008 11:35 AM

If in doubt - keep flat out

G

Lee 25-03-2008 11:41 AM

Your electric cars will feel too fast for you now boys:lol:

c0sie 25-03-2008 02:42 PM

Ace report and pics as always Jimmy & Co. :)

jimmy 25-03-2008 03:45 PM

http://rctopnews.net have a cool report on their page from the neo08

sadly they wholesale ripped off mine because they are wankers and incapable of creative original content - oh and didn't even put a LINK to me (they put it in text but not a link) what a set of ponys.

Tell you what, I'll sit in a cold barn for 4 days killing myself to make some nice report - and MAYBE just maybe the google adverts will pay for just my hosting fees (60ukp a month). Not if people like rctopnews get their way.

I don't mind people making news with my content, as long as they are original and it links to my site. but ripping the entire report to sell your own advertising is just wrong.

rc-mushroom are the company behind this news site, so I contacted them about it - they first denied knowlege of the website, but I pointed out they own it.

Northy 25-03-2008 03:48 PM

Knob heads

Can anyone else see the comment left on the day 2 story by 'dance warrior', wonder who that is ;)
