I think there are a lot of us who took a lot of pleasure from Racechat, when it was free, and reasonably liberal. But now, I guess it is your choice whether you become a member or not, and if you choose to be, then it is only fair to abide by the rules. If that is how Rob see's how a portal of information should be, then that is his choice, we choose whether to use it or not.

As for oople..... I have to get my daily, nope, hourly fix of the ramblings that go on here, and there is a massive depth of knowledge and experience, albeit with an edge of humour.

Chrislong 22-03-2010 07:43 PM

He makes himself look so bad, by attacking any offenders, or by sly comments like the "Is this a good idea" thing. It just makes him look bad!

Why doesn't he tackle the rule breachs from the other angle "Don't post your links here, but if you wish to host your information/pictures/details here directly then be my guest". Turn it into a positive.

Ive said this on the thread, im not going to push his buttons and fish for a ban. I don't want to make myself look bad. I just don't like his approach, so made the constructive critism, now I'll leave racecrap alone.

DCM 22-03-2010 07:53 PM

if you think about it, by linking to the images and info, it saves his bandwidth, I understand where he is trying to come from, but really, thats not how the internet works...

nobby 22-03-2010 09:33 PM

i can't believe he has just had a go at the most respected 12th racer in the country for telling people about a practice day were this guy is offering to help and give advice to anyone who is interested.

the guy is only trying to help for god sake:mad:

Been banned many times from Rcracecrap and never been threatened with legal action...

Guy who runs it is clearly a Grade A 'silly face' anyway

Now normal non paying members can't even look at other members profiles ;)..

how gay!

For what its worth id gladly give Jimmy £15 a year as a subscription to go some way towards how much I appreciate the help I get on the forum and how much I love reading the race reports and reviews.

Set it up and ill be the first to send payment!

Col 22-03-2010 10:11 PM

It's already set up. It's called the donation button in the forsale section!

birdy 22-03-2010 10:11 PM

Only last year a post that I put on race chat about a RC CHARITY event at nnrc for cancer got removed........come on we did raise £1.5k for charity!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was the last time I ever visited the site.

Do the BRCA still link to race chat, if I was a new racer and got sent to race chat it would put me right off.

Despite asking 2/3 times over the years, I've yet to see a link to oOple on the BRCA website - though if it's on there now I'll eat my own hair as I've not checked :woot:

I asked the question about it being deleted and got the response that i wasn't aloud to post the link unless i was a paying member,i didn't know :D,anyway 2 or 3 people ask for the link to be sent to them and they would post it up,i did so but 1 of them got banned for it  which is just complete and utter madness.Anyway the guy that got banned is also a member of the HMNC forum along with me,i apologised and it was all cool. T

The thing is i went back on to R/C and said that i didn't know about it and said sorry that i only wanted to show the pictures, he then goes and gives me 1 Years free subscription, Go figure that out :eh?:.

I got banned because of your link also Ross except i got a lifetime ban to go with it when i was a fully paid up member for £15 and paid our club subscription of £50 and i wasnt even allowed to advertise our then website of www.racecentral.org

Don't forget club forums, if there is a way of doing that - JEspares/NNRC etc.

Excellent suggestion Neil and i feel Glyn would be the right person if anyone can it will be Glyn

Probably the best thing that could happen if you ask me or when the BRCA new website up and runing get a link for oople of there worth a try in it surely guys/gals

I sent a email on race chat asking a simple question why i was removed from moderator of a section without being informed first after all i have paid my subscriptions for the last 6 years plus money for club sections and series section basicaly no reply so cannot be arsed to answer a email that tells me not interested in guest members or full members at all money money money comes 1st

crtpromachine 23-03-2010 03:44 PM

Thats what i used and still awaitng for a reply or the manners to tell me the answer to my question but thanks for the advice anyway

A better forum than RaceChat ?
A better forum than RaceChat ?

It's not often that you will see me linking to another forum but for a long time I was a fan of Jimmy's website at oople.com

It occurs to me that many of you might feel better served and more at home on a forum like that and I feel it would be better for all of us if you can find the right forum for YOU and use the one that you prefer.

Anyway here is the link ...

Rob, i think the forums are very different places, oople is fun and vibrant and people enjoy visiting it, its full of people with knowledge but they can also have a laugh and race chat, well, people just think your a bit of a BIG BEAR

antnee 24-03-2010 12:02 AM

Lee=legend!

antnee 24-03-2010 12:17 AM

Rob must make a fair bit of money from the forum, I think I counted 19 club forums, at £50 a time that's 950! Manufactures will pay more than that, then you have main banner sponsors. Do the events pay anything? Plus a hundred full members at £15 a time!

So he could potentially be receiving around 3-5k, and it costs no where near that to host such a quiet forum!

Themaddog 24-03-2010 12:44 AM

Guys this is gonna end in tears

Rob is Rob and there is no changing that, he will do what he wants on his forum and thats his choice, its simple as that, and instead of the "im going to get banned" just dont go on it.

I for one do not like Rob he is agrogant and the Racechat forum is a dictatorship but what is going on now is nothing short of Bullying and it needs to end now Guys

Im all for having a laugh but people still need to be treated with dignity and respect even if they dont deserve it

Glyn
