Not ideal I know but it's how the team do it!

17mm with plastic shock bottom

(i could wind the shock collars down another 10 laps aswell)

Pedders 06-02-2015 02:53 PM

Is the kf2 good out of the box or does it need extra hot up parts to make it competitive?? Recommended extras??

Thanks.

What parts do I need to mount the shocks on the rear of the wish bone?

Steve lad were you sniffing superglue fumes while writing this post :p

steveproracing 07-02-2015 05:50 PM

Nope I was told by a high level sponsored driver from York that in certain shock positions and spring rates the only way to get bellow 20mm without changing setup is to use the alloy bottoms. I've not built my car yet so can neither prove or disprove the info I was given, but I trust the guy who gave me the info more than I would most people on here

Boons 08-02-2015 08:22 PM

Built mine, just the electrics and paint to go. I was a bit suprised to find the whole front end inc steering is plastic, and not even a front wishbone brace. Maybe I'm too out of date with buggies as I haven't built one for a long time.

Very nice though and I'm looking forward to running it

Danosborne6661 08-02-2015 10:21 PM

Ran mine at Mendip R/C Raceway today with an out the box set-up and it was rapid! All I did was the following

- Leaned the shocks in on the towers all round
- 90g added under the lipo
- Flipped the front arms left to right
- 20mm ride height all round
- 1 degree camber all round
- Slight amount of toe-in up front
- Fair amount of slipper which worked amazing on the new assembly.

I also tried increasing the anti-squat to 3 degrees and changed to long wheelbase but wasn't much of a fan of either of these!

All in all it was very quick and us KF2's took all the top 3 places at Mendip today :)

Which alloy servo horn (25t) would you guys recommend?

shark 09-02-2015 11:09 AM

Core one ;)

Personally none,

I'd rather break a plastic horn than a £50+ servo.

The horn is the weakest point, if you put an alloy horn on the damage transfers to the next weakest point, normally the servo. IMHO

shorty

I have just finished building my KF2, and now its time to get the electronic in the car.
I have been using Saddle-pack in my KF but I really wanted to try out the shorty, then the KF2 came out, so my question is: Are the shorty still a good option to the KF2? Or do the KF2 drive way better with saddle sins it have a different geometry?

Q2: If Shorty which dimensions shall I look for ?

Danosborne6661 10-02-2015 01:48 PM

All the KF2's I've seen at our local club have been built with shortys. There seems to be a nice lot of room for the shorty so I imagine any short will go in no problem.

hazeandfizz 10-02-2015 08:37 PM

Most drivers in the UK are running shorty low grip setup as it works so very well in all conditions.

Dimensions (LxWxH): 95.5x46.5x24.9mm

Regards,
James.

I'm still struggling to get the ride height lower than 20mm, is there any way of lowering the car using the kit springs and shock bottoms?

Didn't want to buy more bling as I've already brought the alloy hub carriers and rear shock mount conversion kit.

Ritchie T 10-02-2015 09:35 PM

Talk us through how your building them and what youre using

Boons 11-02-2015 08:27 AM

Regarding The belt tension, do you slide the adjuster just until it takes up the slack, or tighter?

Forgive me, I haven't built a car with a belt since my new Pro Cat :wub

Danosborne6661 11-02-2015 09:20 AM

My ride height goes way below 20mm! But I do have my shocks on the back which I suppose could make a difference...

Run the belt on the tight side

bigred5765 11-02-2015 01:56 PM

Just made some side pod weights to fit the kf and kf2

SWEET :D like!

Thomas B 11-02-2015 11:01 PM

Do you have same setup on KF2 as on KF?

Chris Elworthy 12-02-2015 08:02 AM

Has anybody actually run the car yet? What do you all think in comparison with the original KF?

Any setup ideas?

Chris

hazeandfizz 12-02-2015 08:31 AM

Chris,

I've run my car twice now and I'm very pleased with it. My KF never had the alloy LG chassis fitted so It's a little difficult for me to do the compare but running against people of similar ability with std KF's I do seem to have gained pace.
Steve Brown ran his at Torch on Sunday and was very quick, he also felt the car had more speed.

At present I'm running a very similar setup.

Hope this info helps!
James.

Is it possible to run the new slipper on the old car?

Rear shocks are kit, 3 hole pistons, 30wt oil, red spring and plastic shock bottoms.

I've brought the conversion kit to mount the shocks on the rear.

20mm ride height ????

What am I doing wrong?

hazeandfizz 12-02-2015 12:48 PM

I think the Core springs which are included in the KF2 kit are longer than the original Schumacher springs.

If you need RH lower than 20mm I think you need, Schumacher springs or alloy spring cups or K1 rear tower.

James.

Boons 12-02-2015 01:42 PM

So what ride height should I be looking for all around for use indoor on astro?

shark 12-02-2015 01:58 PM

Get mine way lower than 20mm using core springs and kit spring cups , shocks on rear........ Pass !

johnboy 12-02-2015 02:02 PM

1 Attachment(s)
Finally finished mine now puck drive system arrived.
Couple of things the quality of the build is excellent as you would expect.
Some small niggling issues though. Having to dremel the sidepod so can gain access to the shorty lipo come on schumacher do a proper one and with all the nice black parts why the grey ball cups could have been black lol.
I'm looking forward to giving the car a run this weekend

Sounds to me like you're building them with too much rebound (too much oil). If you compress the shaft with the spring off and let go, how far does the shaft come back down?

Tell us how you build them step by step.

Guys, not sure if I'm being a complete tool, but that rubber o ring on the hex, is it supposed to go inbetween the hex and hub or to go on the actual hex to hold the pin in?

Cheers!

Holds the pin in place for the hex

Hi guys.

I want to chuck some spare front wishbones in the box, question is do I go for kit or the med flex ones? It's indoor on astro if that's relevant.

Cheers!

Is it silverstone you will be racing at, if so I would say the kit arms are fine.

Std wishbones are fine for TCRCC, are you going to the next winter series date? If so pop over and say hello and we can talk through any questions you have.
Regards,
James.
