:blush: hmmm that's one of those thing you can't see for looking thanks Matt
|
I've figured out what I did wrong  I fitted the steering assembly to the chassis and when I fount that it wasn't going to work I just bolted it to the top deck, and as the front box wasn't fitted I never thought.
I'll put it back to how it should be sometime over the weekend hopefully. |
Spent a bit more time on the car last night and got the front end nearly complete.

Looks pretty badass!
|
Thanks optima it's getting there.
I managed to get a lot done last night http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9eqlijer.jpg I'm gonna see how this performs before I hack up another shock tower. http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psdac6gxlu.jpg Had to make a servo mount out of a piece of Perspex I had http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psfxuwv4cb.jpg Needs a bit of tidying up but there in and if I get time tonight I may do a bit of testing. http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...pswkqivc90.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psjjjalnye.jpg |
 Looks excellent fella
Looking forward to seeing it going round with my procat in 2 weeks time :D |
Oopl has in now arrived gainsy
|
Need to go pick it up this week :) probably on sunday
|
I think I have those reddish alu turnbuckles on my first Optima Mid as well. Already looked familiar, now I know why.
Btw, that spur looks pretty thin. Doesn't that increase risk on stripping teeth? |
I wouldn't of thought so there RW Racing spurs I needed something to fit the slipper and as Luke used them on his I knew which ones to use, and they were a bargain job lot off eBay I think I paid £4 for 10 different sizes so it's worth a try.
As for the turnbuckles I had a full set in my old dogfighter BITD and wanted se for this but could only find 2 so the rest have been replaced with new trinity ones. No testing tonight as I've only been home from work for about 20 min and it's starting to get dark :thumbdown: so I'll have to wait for tomorrow hopefully |

It has arrived :D

A worthy contender will it be participating
|
Looking good Peakey!
Quick observation - is the belt rubbing on the top deck at the front just where the belt rolls into the diff pulley? Could be an optical illusion but it does look close... would be a shame to have to take a file to that lovely alloy top deck :( Talking of clearance issues the belt on my ProCat seems to just miss the (top mounted) roll bar ;) Kinda gutted now that I haven't entered 4wd for the Revival:thumbdown: |

Thanks Dan I've not had chance to do any testing yet been too busy at work I'll get round it somehow.

With it absolutely throwing it down outside I'm gonna have to do some indoor testing later when the kids are in bed. So I got my new belt cover curtesy of Brian s and after a bit of trimming got it fitted.
http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6ygyhsf9.jpg I only really wanted one so the belt doesn't rub any wires. I also trimmed the shell and got it fitting right. http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psxhyqiflm.jpg |
After some tidying the Procat maid it's first trip round the garden this afternoon and it soon became apparent the front springs are too soft. The team tanaplan front wishbone setup sheet says to put long shocks on the front and use the outer hole.
So I'm going to try the rear small boar shocks on the front and put the rear big boar shocks I have on the rear to see how that works. Anyone have any ideas ? |
Almost race ready just a couple of finishing touches and it will be ready.
http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...pstvsyk12d.jpg I had a play around with the suspension and it's sitting a lot better now. Rear small boars on the front http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psct9yjg5p.jpg And big boars on the rear http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psjvkkloct.jpg I've also swapped the roller driveshafts on the back for standard ones as I didn't trust the rollers reliability. http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psdfk0huj8.jpg |
Finally I've just got everything ready for tomorrow I'm sure I will forget something.
I've just got to pick a battery from my mates and then load it all in to the car for the early start tomorrow  and I've also got a massive box of auto jumble if I can fit it in the car:o |
Wow has it really been this long it was on page 3!!!
So with the house move over and done with (well sort of). And the up and coming buggy blitz at WBMCC that I will hopefully be participating in, it's time to get the cars out of the boxes and sorted. And what should turn up on eBay but a WASP alloy front diff housing but it was missing the rear mounting posts but I still wanted it. So after talking to the seller it turns out he had all the bits in a box and didn't realise it was all together, so after a bit of negotiation we agreed a price and it should be here on Tuesday. But it is missing some diff balls so I'm gonna have to find some the right size and then see if it will take the 6mm belt. |
After searching for months I finally found one ant it arrived today. Needs a bit of a clean up and polish but I'm happy with it.
http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4qzoqadi.jpg Got the new diff balls yesterday so just need to get some time to spend on it now. |
Gutted crappy EE internet connection dropped out and I missed some stuff on eBay I hate EE they are shit :thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown:
|
You need a sniper! I set mine and it never forgets!
|
I haven't used one in years but I might have to start useing one.

|
Looking good. Happy driving!
|
It was either out front or in bits more of the latter :lol:

Is it correct that the vid is running in slo-mo speed?
|
It's not my vid I stole it from the iconicrc Facebook page and yes it's in slow mo
|
I managed to get a little time last night to build up the new rear diff that I'm going to try in the Procat at WBMCC at the end of the month. I will be removing the MMS rear box and using that on the XLS that I will soon be building, and going back to the custom motor plates I had made.
I managed to build this bosscat pro diff out of completely new parts down to the nip Schumacher diff balls and thrust race. http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psqramrawn.jpg And now in it's new home http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psx6bie4nk.jpg Just need to strip the rear of th Procat now for the belts and re assemble when I get some spare time. |
|
Anyone got any tips on eliminating grip roll??

I've been told that tonight too, so I'm going to take the outside two rows off. So hopefully that with the new front end mod it should help.
I am also waiting for some piano wire to try and make a custom front anti roll bar to fit on to the inner holes on the wishboans so I can run my shocks on the outside ones. |
It's been a while but the Procat is out of storage and been back on the track for the revival. It's had a bit of a revamp with a Bosscat Pro rear diff and a new SV2 slipper.
http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psamdexi55.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psrxehfqin.jpg Since this pic it's had a strip and rebuild again as the new layshaft didn't take to well to the 3mm thick side plates so I had to revert back to the MMS alloy box and with that box I can't run the 6mm belt, so I had to opt for a 4mm one. It went quite well till I had transmitter issues with I finally sorted for the end of the day, and managed to get a win in the C so not a bad end to the day. http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psv1jflbem.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psoq4ccgxu.png Here you go Damo told you I would ware it with pride 😁 http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...pssxhiesmz.png http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psenhrfdse.jpg Was nice to share a pit with Gainsy and see Luke's old Procat out on the track http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psbmplt3iu.png |
