More nice work Chris, I prefer the Blue and Orange one of the 2, I like the white curvy graphics on it, not something I've seen before, looks great !

Thanks Ian, The white/black/fluro are repeat orders for one of the guys over here, they never photograph properly, but look great in the flesh and on track.
The blue and orange ones though, are well up in the 'favourite things I've painted' list.... :D

If I had a pound for every time I said that... so far I've found working in a dark ish room with Flash brings out the colours best, it has disadvantages too like the whites completely blowing out so they need to be put on a dark background... If I ever get to the bottom of perfect photograph to replicate the wonderous colours we use I'll be sure to let everyone know... watch this space in about another 20 years :lol:

I'm pretty sure I can do a reasonable job as I photograph real cars for a living...

There should be no need to darken the room if you're shooting with flash, just increase the shutter speed to remove the ambient light.

I'll have a play about sometime and see what I can work out.

It's the fact the colours we use are generally use are a bit more sparkly or pearlescent or fluorescent than you get on real cars and the camera's just don't capture it. I don't think it's the camera's fault, obviously if you photograph chrome it just reflects everything which the camera can capture but the pixels don't come out as Fluorescent or metallic or pearl, there is only so much you can do.

Suggesting how to light an object with how many flash guns / lights would be handy to know.

I've done this for 10 years, tried light tents, outside, umbrella's, softboxes, ironically the best results came form just having the flash on my camera, simple is the key I guess.

Chris, if you can use a vector drawing program on the computer I'd definitely invest in one ! I'm nearly 38 now ( insert dinosaur smiley HERE ), I bought my cutter about 2001, it is without a doubt one of the best things I have ever spent money on, to this day.

For sure laying masks inside a bodyshell is a bit of a dark art, even more so than trying to bend them around a crash helmet but it is so useful, repeatable patterns, logo's, clever shapes, they're really worth the money !

Hi Matthew, i'm probably the worst example to ask... i paint in a converted garage (sealed and with extractors) using the cheapest of cheap oil free compressors and an Iwata Eclipse 0.35 airbrush, with simple inline moisture trap.
Use Createx paints, RCS Liquid Mask, RCS body Prep (essential as far as im concerned) and RCS Stencils. JonMiller is the boy to ask about all of them, for my money the best products on the market.

Ian, im gonna have to learn.. it's as simple as that!! lol! I'm useles with computers.. emails and looking at ladies seem to be as much as i can do.... hard to believe i studied as an engineer......

bit off topic, but my (much) better half decided she wanted a go at this airbrushing lark....
I genuinely took a step back and just answered any questions she asked, letting her tear away....

and she came back with this! Must stress that this is the first time she'd picked up an airbrush or delt with a RC body (except to post them... lol)

impressed i was!

tonight, i gave Luke Hobson's shells a wee freshen up... bout time they were changed about a bit!
