I tried turf rippers last year on my 4wd indoors and they were awefull. Even with additive they were still like drift car tyres.lol

Double post.

Oh Alec, is your back still playing up mate cause you're doing some serious moaning just lately!! :)
The reasons for choosing these tyres are obvious in my opinion. The tyre market is larger than just one company and everyone will be on the same tyre so its down to the driver anyway.
Just come along, enjoy yourself, have a moan, eat some stag chilli and have a laugh!!! Don't say you'll never use the tyres again cause it would appear that many clubs are deciding to run these tyres!

I've no problem using different tyres, Schumacher, Ballistics, Proline OR TURF RIPPERS, .........BUT surely you use the best tyre for the surface you are racing on???? And of course you are correct, it's the same for everyone and all down to the driving. The same drivers will win whatever tyres they use, it's only the lower drivers that will struggle ........... But they are the ones who keep the clubs going week in week out, not the top drivers!!!!

I don't think I ever mentioned in any of my posts that 'I'll never use the tyres again' , the only club I know who have used them as the nominated tyre was your Silverstone club for the F2 event and most people there used Ballistics!!!

I certainly haven't been to anywhere that uses them (indoors) to good effect, but, as I say, good luck to those that want to

I'm sure your new sponsor CML will supply you plenty of them as they are the distributor ;):D

Alec, I love you to death but always speak facts - I used turf rippers all day at the F2s and finished second only to Tony Truman and I obviously thought they were better than Ballistics.

The tyres are fine and will work and will last and we get them free in our entry and it's the same for everyone and yes it's the sponsors of the event tyre.

I personally hope they don't grip as much and would prefer it to frip rolling everywhere - this way you can also leave your buggies with a outside set up that generates grip rather than trying to loose grip.

i think it's a good choice, especially as it's free - LOL

I don't know what TT used and it doesn't matter as 2nd at the event and winning the last leg says one of two things.
Either the tyre was really good or I am fantastic.
I thing it was the tyres though mate - LOL

Get your arse booked in - it's better than fishing - LOL

I don't know anything about these control tyres. What is their wear rate like? How many sets am I likely to need for the days racing on a 4wd?

Thanks

Hi all,

I think my question got lost amongst all the recent "banter". Can anyone advise?

MK Racing 05-10-2011 07:35 AM

Chris,
The tyres wear well, the set you get given should last the day

So nice cheap racing!

I think they are being tested indoors on Thursday by Neil and a few others. I used them at the F2's and there wasnt much wear at all but that was running on a high grip track.

Adam F 05-10-2011 08:16 AM

Jamie,
It is open to all  we hope to have some of the top uk drivers there but it will mainly be club racers, some will have been racing for year & some just a few months.

The main aim of this event is FUN! Plus with the hand out tyre, it will not be about who spends the most on tyres :woot:

Marc

mikeyscott 05-10-2011 09:55 AM

Sounds like I'll stand a chance of being out of the bottom final :woot:

Neil, will check with the wife tonight (time it when she's in a good mood as she's away horse riding this weekend :) )
