I reckon it's going to be a race between the C4.1 and the new Durango to get released first.
Be fun if they get released at the same time - we can all turn up at our tracks the first weekend and try and work out if we've bought the right car:D Rob |
race for release
As much as I am dying for a good look at both (I have pre-ordered my C4.1 ) I think the rango will drop first purely due to the fact that they have been developing it for a real long time and they must be very near full production quota. CML will know that the longer they hold out for final 'ironing out' the closer Cragg may get to taking the 2wd Nationals...therefore the bigger the demand as far as the consumers desire for the C4.1. I also feel that due to the fact that the C4.1 is a collaborative project between several parties, that the final stages of design and production will take a little longer than a department in a solo company.
Either way...can not wait to see them both...but C4.1 is going to be epic I feel :wub |

As the B4.1 front end is used on the X6 and Vega, the C4.1 rear will do for me! Just ordered mine

The only 2wd buggies that I have raced have been rear motored.
How much differently will a mid motored car handle here in the UK? Just looking to gather some info, as i'm keen to give the c4.1 a go (when it finally appears that is :woot:) |
mid motor

As you may imagine, having the motor mass over or ,in front in most cases, of the rear axles gives us a number of massive benefits. The cars benefit from bags of straight line traction, they carry more speed in the corners and generally sit down and play ball a lot easier on british medium to high grip astro etc. The mid configuration negates the pendulum effect at the cars arse end and pushes all the rotational energy of the rear end across the centre of the chassis, hopefully making the cars go where you point the nose (in most cases anyway lol) Most mid buggys also benefit from 4 gear transmissions that are set up with a neutral idler gear, this allows for the extra gear required for spinning the gear boxes around inside not to effect the out put gear ratio. In summary, bags of grip, no crazy sloppy arse end :) and rotational mass in the centre of the chassis. If you havnt driven mid motor then get on it, as you can see by manufacturers moves in the past couple of years, its just streets ahead on high grip british surfaces. Hence a lot of buggys being released with both configurations possible out the kit box. Let's not forget though that Lee Martin still drives MOA (motor out the arse) and he is not exactly slow :), if you find yourself ever on loose dirt then the old school format is still king (as shown in this years worlds) The C4.1 is going to be a corker so get your pre order in hy |

Sure it'll all be worth it and I guess CML think they don't really need to spend any time hyping it up before the launch given the results. Starting to think the first I'll hear anymore about it is when MK e-mail me to say the kits are in and they want some money!! Rob |
I have just been in touch with Cml and they say hopefully end of the month/ early September :)
but still no price yet :eh?: |
My bet is around £145-£160 :)

c4.1 price

Either way I think its fair to say that most top flight conversions are around the same price these days if you already own the transplant car then bonus |

We've not confirmed anything with pictures yet as we don't have any of the specific parts finished in production form (yet). Although I can confirm all the parts are now going through the production process. All the cars we've run have been subtely different and have changed along the way and there is no point putting anything up about those, other than it is work in progress. Jimmy has covered the car in some of his race reports though so photos are out there and we've given it an article about every three weeks or so (as it wins another national) so it hasn't been forgotten on the news pages. Hoping for about 2-3 weeks but obviously that could change. This is the first time I've seen a project like this being run, and whilst I'm not involved in it directly I am aware of what is going on and it's really opened my eyes with regard to how it's much more time consuming it is then I ever thought it would (or even could) be!! But trust me - it's worth waiting for. |

Thanks, Keith, I wasn't really have a go , but you know how you get when you want your new toy, even old gits like me who probably won't go any faster anyway:) When are you going to get back down to TORCH and show us how to set our C4.1s up then? We could supply the biscuits:thumbsup: Rob |
